Yep, covered that. Certain letters are red, spell out Escaton...

I sent an email to Rachel's address. No reply yet.

My bad, I didn't notice your post.

Anyway, I doubt that you'll get and e-mail back, since she's been kidnapped and all. :/

unless the hacker(s?) got her email addy. Oh, and I was bored and surfing around on wikipedia, and I pulled up something interesting. they mentioned china, and look what I found when I searched for disunity

Quote:
Period of Disunity
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Period of Disunity, also known as the first disunion, was a long period of disunity and civil wars in China, lasting from 220 to 589. It followed the collapse of the Han Dynasty, when a large number of kingdoms had sprung up and fought for domination.

Among the dynasties formed were the Three Kingdoms of Wei, Shu, and Wu (220–280), the Jin Dynasty and Sixteen Kingdoms, and the Southern and Northern Dynasties (420–589). The fighting lasted for over 300 years. It was during this period that the popularity of Buddhism and Taoism grew. In 589 China finally saw the end of the Period of Disunity when the Sui Dynasty took control, and briefly reunited China proper.

How about sending Michael an email?

What was Rachel's address? Can you replace her name with Mike's?

Rachel's email is/was rachelhSPLATroundedlove.co.uk.

Following the same name scheme, I sent an email to MichaelCSPLATroundedlove.co.uk

Hi Michael,
I'm part of a community of people that were helping Rachel recover some information from some corrupted images she had. She said to contact you about a supercomputer called Eschaton. She said you might know something about it. Recently, Rachel's blog changed to a ransom note. Do you know what's happened? Are you safe?

If I get a reply/bounce, I'll let you know.

So, after spending a while trying to find more meaning to the binary on the main disunity page, myself and The_Outspoken noticed a few things:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I noticed after typing in the password, it quickly sends you to a redirect page, before racheal's blog. http://disunity.esusalliance.co.uk/auth_1

The top of that page has a comment,

<!-- urn_verify("rachel"); -->
<!-- pw_verify("rhwoxotfp"); -->

As Rachel's page currently doesn't have a login, that is not much help.
However, changing auth_1 to auth_2 provides a similar page, but for micheal's blog... The comment there is:

<!-- urn_verify("michael"); -->
<!-- pw_verify("xomw"); -->

Sadly, xomw is not a valid password for micheal's site.

Some more on what ElGamer and me have gotten together:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I've taken the password under the "auth" page for michaels blog and done several things with it. First, the given credentials:

URN_VERIFY: michael
PW_VERIFY: xomw

First, I tried the pass with no success. Then I ROTed the pass and looked for likely canidates with no luck. I also looked at the reverse of any ROTs for likely suspects with no luck there either.

I then noticed the conspicuous "x" and tried a Playfair Cipher which returned "ynrb".

I then attempted a playfair cipher with "grow" as a key which returned "odla", another dead end.

Finally, I attempted a modified Caeser cipher, (a ROT), with the key "grow" to offset the offset. At ROT0 this resturned "xcpd" and at ROT 13 this returned "kpcq", neither of which resulted in anything useful.

I'm looking into other ways that it could be used.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Not sure if this is also related but:

http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:K-I-Jj2FcyEJ:www.dvocha.org/cgi-bin/four.cgi%3FXOMW+xomw&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1&client=opera

The page says:

"Hey there. Welcome.

There might be some information about XOMW out there.Now what I do know is that it contains 4 letters, and they're usually all capitalized. A lot of acronyms are like that, written in all capitals. Huh? How did you spell it? XOMW? Ok just a few more ideas... XOMW!

Anyhow. Maybe I can help you out afterall. I mean, seriously there aren't too many places you need to look and you can find just about anything. Ok, so, to start, did you try the obvious things? One thing I would try would be to look up XOMW at dictionary.com. They have definitions for just about everything and even if something is an acronym you can find out what it stands for there. The magic friend is what I am. Another idea is to check google.com for XOMW. That's the best search engine in my opinion. Brilliant! If you don't find anything there for XOMW check altavista.com. Check it out. And if XOMW still eludes you there's always yahoo.com. Simple as that.

One other thing to try is to just see if there's a page about it at a logical domain. Like if you're looking for XOMW, try just typing in XOMW.com and see what comes up. Now, I've never been to that page so I don't know what's there, but if you're really trying to find XOMW it might be worth a shot. Woooohheyy! Pay attention and I can help you.

You know? Does this make sense? Ummm I'm not sure what else to suggest... "

EDIT:

This page is a google cache of the first result when you google xomw. Simply clicking the link gives you a page that redirects here: http://www.dvocha.org/index.php/Main_Page

However, the source of the redirect page is strange enough that I'm starting to think dvocha.org might be an in game site: (attatched)

Not sure, I might just be trouting. :/

On http://michael.roundedlove.co.uk/, I just noticed that when you click the mouse on each of the letters (in grow) there are ping sounds played. One is played on the G, two on the R, 4 on the O, and 8 on the W -- The numberof pings 'grows' from left to right.

Not sure what it means, but I thought I would toss it out there.

I'd also just like to point out that 1,2,4,8 is the progression of powers of 2 up to 2^3.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
i know someone probably mentioned this, but yeh, i think the whole cubed thing may be a bit too complicated, its just a basic pattern, doubling the last number, so the next numbers (if it is a pattern) would be 16, 32, 64, 128, and so on. come to think of it this is also the pattern in bits, then again i may just be thinking out of my arse :S

Well, I almost want to declare this one dead. The people who kidnapped Rachel STILL haven't posted demands...

I agree. I was contacted by someone from ESUS Alliance forums and they said that they had gotten pretty far with it, but when I tried to register there, I was told it had to be approved by the forum admin...that was about 2 months ago. No response from Rachel, her email, or Michael (I never got a bounce email, so it went somewhere).

A shame. I was ready to jump all over this one.
