doubtful it will end tomorrow, they would have to have a major meltdown..
like alot of us did at the end of Chasing the Wish!!!
Waves back at Sunny.
I am starting to loose faith. I think one of the things that has hindered the game is the Oct 1st picture. I think we are on to something, But found nothing to confirm it.
I WANT to believe. Maybe the PM's are just agents messing with our minds.

Knowing us, we probably have lots of clues we havnt picked up on, all leading to the story and progress increasing...but because we havnt figured out anything more we are stuck...esp with the oct 1st pic...but then you would think they would give us a new clue to move us along...

I can't imagine that they would let more than a month go by with that puzzle being unsolved without trying to somehow further draw our attention to it. Think about it. If that was a pivotal clue keeping us from advancing, they wouldn't just let it sit there for over a month.... would they?

You know, at one point...when we hadnt recieved a pic or anything for ages, I actually thought maybe the pm's had just stopped doing it...couldnt be bothered anymore or something...but then we got a new pic, and all was right with the world.
I'm almost starting to have the same horrible feeling, but then again...its only been a few days since we got a really cool fone call, and new messages etc etc...so no doubt, in the next few days new things will be released...lets hope

Hiya people, This is my first post, I've been playing/watching without much success for about a month and thought it was finally time to join in.
How far beyond the rules/law would you consider it to be to try an ssh hack on the servers?
Hear me out -
(USian legal issues aside) I know actual hacking/decompilation seem to be frowned upon in ARG's in general, but this is the Matrix, a Sci-Fi hacker oriented world/plot/movie/whatever. When I first heard about all this (early october) the first thing I did was a portscan of underscore/metacortechs/littleboxes etc. I found out that one of the few open ports is number 23, the ssh port. Upon tring to ssh in ity turned out that yes, there are ssh servers going. Now this is most probably just the way the pm's update the sites, but in reloaded trinity uses nmap and a fictional tool called "sshnuke" to gain access to systems. Should we be thinking in the same sorts of directions?
I appreciate that I'm probably wrong here, and we're just supposed to find and figure out puzzles, but we seem to have run out of clues, and it is a hacker oriented game.........

Just because they are running SSH doesn't mean that they are vulnerable to an exploit. Most webservers use SSH for administration. Honestly, the port scan is a lot worse then trying to exploit the servers. That takes up bandwith and processing time. I don't think that there is any way hacking the SSH could be in game. Unless they have a custom modified SSH to trap hacking attempts and output info to us, all you are going to get is access to their servers. And that would just give you all the info that is there, spoiling the game.
I doubt that you are intended to break into the servers. Man, people get antsy when you go a couple of days without an update.

(Remember that I know very little, so be gentle if I am talking rubbish)
Isn't port 23 telnet? And 22 ssh? Though I think you can assign it to any port.
Not important, but I remember 23 being telnet for some reason.

Excelent point, you are correct. Port 23 is usualy telnet, and SSH is 22. Missed that one

What I'm really waiting for is back of the Metacortex's login screen.
The password file has been removed when some players found it. So for the moment, we cannot try to log in.
There was an invalid link secure/login.html but it disappeared too...

I think I just had them confused, esp. since I usually have to use port 23 for everything if I want to get out of my coporate net. I meant 22 really. Anyway, quite irrelevant now.

useless, but... Men in Black don't look anything like Agents, much less Tommy Lee Jones or Will Smith. According to most reports from people who have encountered MIBs, they are more alien like in appearance than most humans. I did a lot of reading on them a long while back and my memory of them is hazy, but the description from whoever it was of the Agent did not fit a real MIB...
I'd say it was definitely a memory of an Agent, no need to confuse that with a possible MIB.
