If I was playing one of these ARG games and spamming the forums with it, then I'd completely understand what you mean Max, but we've told you that it is not the case, yet you still act like it is. You never once tried to be nice about it either.

Alright, you're looking for help with this situation?

There's no reason for you to continue to respond to this person, try to figure out riddles they're sending, or anything else.

Ignore the emails, block the address, and get on with your life.

Some people are saying this guy sent me a PM, but it wasn't a PM, it was an email.

Secondly, Dunn is my friend from another forum. He knew I posted here because the link to this site was posted on a forum we go to.

And Max, as I've stated, I only replied to the one email, I've been ignoring him since. I'm not trying to solve the riddles either, it's not about the riddles. I was just confused and needed help, not about the riddles, but about the person who sent the email in the first place. I just wanted to make sure this guy really doesn't live in my area. I don't want to have to worry about it.

I just started a new job a couple of weeks ago at a hospital/ med school. I work at the front desk answering phones and talking with people who have any questions. There were a couple of guys there that showed some stalker behavior. I never was afraid of them because it really wasn't that bad, but I don't know, sometimes I wonder if these emails are coming from one of those guys.

No, people aren't wondering if he sent you a PM. PM is an ARG term, it means Puppet Master, which is our way of saying, "guy/girl that's running the game".

EDIT: And I got another response. I asked him who wanted to be noticed, and this is what I got. The first line, everything after the arrow had to be highlighted:

The answer is in the clues.-> Melonie has the other half.

Someone is coming.
Taking life.
Asking for nothing.
Forgiving.
Forgetting.
Order is broken.
Remembering a sin.
Damnation is an end.

Highlight-> I am someone you see, but do not know.

Alright to make this perfectly clear, I'm not mr stalker! Frankly I'm offended by the level on inteligence it took to finger me as that person. I'm taking this serious, I'm telling her to contact the police, I'm doing my best to trace the guy, I have headers and I'm going about sending legal complaints. I also am posting on this thread cause I was directed here as well. Now if you think helping her and asking others to help is a problem for you, then simply don't. No need to be arrogant, its not you who is having the problem remember. Now I'm not ropeing anyone in I'm just defending and attempting to help my friend. Don't attempt to turn the focus of this into a lets blame the victim
Help or don't.

As for the real issue of this guys location. here's what I found out. Say your e-mail address is Melonie(a)yahoo.co.uk and you want to send a fake e-mail..... what I do I go into the options in yahoo change the return address from Melonie(a)yahoo.co.uk to Solidsnak(a)yahoo.co.uk you send a mail now it looks like solid snake sent it. It is easy to fake and difficult to trace. Now a way you can deal with this is send the mail to yahoo and ask that you got a harrasment e-mail and see what they can do until then dont reply, put on your junk mail list. If your really worried simply go to the police and tell them I believe im being stalked they will make a case they can look into the e-mail and contact yahoo and they can verify the time stamps then they can trace it futher.

As for the riddle I haven't attempted to decipher it. I wouldn't be comfortable getting one of those either.

Uh...Dunn? Nobody said you were Mr. Stalker. I'm not sure where you're getting that from, but it is a little ironic that you're talking about false accusations and then throwing them around yourself.

Hmm... That is weird. I havet he other half? Does he mean the emaiils he sent me?

I know I said I really don't care about these riddles, but I noticed my name mentioned. I wonder what he meant by that.

Edit: Esteed, I thought people accused Dunn of it as well. That's why I defended him. Maybe we both misread what he poster was saying. Either that or maybe you overlooked it. Please, just leave him alone, he's only trying to help me, and he's been doing a great job at that.

As for the other mysterious person in this thread, Dunn_Stealth, who seems to have regestered just earlier today, and has only commented on the issue at hand: He could very well be the PM, or a close friend thereof. He seems to just be attempting to get us hooked into helping Melonie, rather than questioning if this is all in game, or OoG. Other than him seeming more than a little strange, at one point he said:

Quote:
I traced an internet header to San Jose California. It says no chance of misdirection but I could be wrong.

Now, I'm just a college student who works in the IT field, but I have absolutely no idea how it could even be remotely possible to track the sender of a yahoo e-mail to a specific location via a header of a web document. In fact, I am almost entirely sure it is not possible -- but I could be wrong. Smile

If my guess is correct, Melonie has nothing at all to fear, and should have a talk to the person who told her to come to unfiction, and Dunn_Stealth should go back behind the curtain, and find other ways to keep us interested.

I call that an accusation.

If he's sent more than one email, now is the time to take a look and see what the others say. How about one of us IMs the other and we can discuss it there, eh? I'm on AIM now and have nothing to do, so...

EDIT: Dunn, take a look at my post where I explain what an ARG is. THAT is what his comment meant, not that you were Mr. Stalker. He's saying he thought you were running a game. If you call that an accusation, you seriously need to loosen up.

I'm finding this all very amusing (no offence meant, but I mean-- you have to see this from our point of view. You're posting in an ARG forum in the same way so many other ARGs start up)

Anyways, I'm not saying this is a game- but I figured it was worth looking into. I sent an email to this guy, with the answer "Ghost", and asking if he had an AIM.

I was sent back this:

Quote:
To see a ghost is to see nothing and everything
To be a ghost is torture

Highlight-> I am someone you see, but do not know.

Again, I'm not saying this is a game or that you are both characters in it-- but if I was a betting man...

Yet another reply. I suggested that the stalker was either the antichrist (half joke) or Death. This is what I got:

Death is not who I am, but an image of what I once was.
You must join together, and follow the clues.
Have more people join the quest.
Use your knowledge.

Diyng words from a frail man
Little whispers is all he can
Upon his grave you take his hand
And hold on to the dream

We have all been getting different messages, Maybe they need to be combined into one. This seems like a way of getting more people into his game.

Yeah, but now we've sorta come full circle. If this was an attempt by the PMs to get lots of people in on the game, unless Melonie and Dunn are both completely in the dark about it, it breaks the rules set up here. The killer is that this game seems interesting, IMO, but if it's going to start off with this big of a violation of the rules...

believe me I haven't a clue about the game, I'm not even participating, I sent an email asking him his intentions and I've got nothing back, he just wants you to play the game.

I am sincerely sorry for doubting you -- I was able to find the first forums Melonie posted this in, http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/393107431/m/5481027174/p/1 and it does look like neither of you are behind all of this. But, you have to admit, from out point of view, you two did look incredibly suspicious.

I do still think somebody you know, Melonie, is doing this, or using you as a way to launch an ARG. If he does anything that could seriously be considered abuse, do not hesitate to contact the police.

As for the ARG portion of this -- I'll start eMailing the guy tonight and see what I can turn up, although I am hesitant to condone launching an ARG in this manner.
