[EMAIL] Keith August 15 - Council Meeting Appearance

Keith seems to be asking what we think he should do.

Quote:
Enaxor,

Wow, your concerns are echoing the thoughts going on in my mind right now in a freaky way. I've been going over the same things in my head for days now, but when I heard Meaghan was missing I packed up everything and headed back towards Aglaura. I had strayed a good distance away so it took a little while. When I got back close to the area, I checked in on the situation using the web page they set up, and the search was already well underway.

This old man is grateful they found her and I've got to wonder how they ever let her get out there by herself in the first place. Sounds to me like somebody's not paying attention where it should be paid, you know what I mean?

And now I've got a new dilemma now, or maybe a new complication to an old dilemma, is more like it. I guess you know they found Brad's body last night, too. They didn't know who it was right away, but I just heard back from Dale - I sent him an email telling him I was glad he found Meaghan - and he told me that the police back there have not only identified the body, they've also turned it into a murder investigation. And of course, the freaking Chief named me again in her statement, he said, and promised a renewed effort to "bring me in."

Like your message, I'm telling myself right about now that I've finally completely lost in, to even think about waltzing back in there with this going down. Come on, it's crazy talk. The whole town is stirred up about Meaghan's disappearance to begin with, and now they got a dead kid on their hands too. Sounds like lynching time to me.

But, I don't know. Another part of me is saying I have to go back and face it. And I don't know what the Hell to do.

I think I can trust you by now. You've done nothing but try to help. I'm pretty sure I know how you are going to answer this, but I'll ask anyway. What do you think? What should I do?

KM

Here's what I sent him a couple of days ago.

Quote:
Keith,

It appears you've already made up your mind to return to Aglaura. Although
I think this is an ill conceived idea, I suppose there's nothing I can say
to to prevent it. For the most part, this plan involves myself and
others, calling in during the Aglaura council meeting, to voice our support
of you.

Your recent actions involving the safe distribution of the masks, would
support your willingness to do the right thing, but I'm sure you'll
understand my hesitation in making that call. Over the last weeks you've
hinted there's information that you've purposefully withheld from us.
Without that information, I'm just not sure how comfortable I am in making
that phone call. Don't you think it's time to let us in on the rest of the
secrets you've been hiding?

Hope to hear from you before the city council meeting.

Here is my most recent response.

Quote:
Keith,

My opinion, it's better to be presumed guilty and be free, than being innocent sitting in prison for a murder you didn't commit. I say give myself and my friends an opportunity to try and clear you of this crime. I'm sure Dale will help us in anyway he can.

There's obviously more going on in Aglaura than the general public knows. I fear there is a cover-up and until we know who's involved, you'll have a hard time clearing your name.

My personal part:

Quote:
Nate,

As soon as I heard Meaghan was missing I packed up everything and headed back towards Aglaura. I had strayed a good distance away so it took a little while. When I got back close to the area, I checked in on the situation using the web page they set up, and the search was already well underway.

I say he goes back in order to clear his name once and for all.

I'm inclined to go with your original email to him.
If we are to be Keith's advocates, we need to know everything.
Let alone that I can't conceive of anything he is privy to that would do anything but help him were we to know about it. (Provided he's truly innocent). Realistically, there's currently nothing but bad news awaiting him, in Aglaura. From a criminal investigative point of view, all fingers tend to wave in his general direction. From the danger point of view, since the alleged bad guys (ostensibly) know he has/d the masks, he's their only solid lead in reaquiring them. They're not going to ask nicely. The matter of goods-in-hand didn't seem to help Brad much when his time came. Keith made a big deal about trust, but isn't racking up a lot of karma points.

EDIT: As soon as I posted, Keith emailed me the same msg. I replied pretty much as above.

I told Keith to get his butt out of the area and told him that once Dawn had the crime scene to investigate she was all business. (Which you would want of a Chief of Police.)

Told him that if he set foot in the council he wouldn't have a chance to say anything before Dawn would get to him.

Also said who would believe him that some man/creature killed Brad by twisting his neck.

Spec: Maybe an autopsy will show that it took "super human" strength to twist Brad's head like this.

Devil's Advocate here..... the other thing to think about is won't he look even MORE guilty if after setting up this special council meeting call in arrangements he is a no show? coincidentially just as they find Brad's body? Twisted Evil

I also told him to stay away. I also told im it was irresponsible of him to involve Meaghan in all of this stuff and he should tell Dale what's going on.

I think you should call in like the rest of us. Get to a secure location that can't be easily recognized by caller ID and call in.

Keith just returned my email about calling in.

Quote:
Wow, that's the best idea I've heard in a long freakin' time! Thank you, that's exactly what I'm going to do.

Spread the word for me, will you? I've got to find a secure place to do this from.

Probably a day late and a dollar short (but, hey, I'm in Greenland and just happy I can check in every once-in-awhile).

Here is my reply to Keith:

Quote:
Right now, I'd stay away. You're right - the minute you walk into
town someone is going after you...."dead men tell no tales". If the
real murder(ers) are still around, they could go after you and make it
look like an accident, or an unruly mob got ahold of you and couldn't
control themselves.

Utilize Dale as a conduit for messages and you can always answer law
enforcement questions over an untraceable phone line (i.e. desposible
cell phone) or internet cafe/library connection (for a short time on
each). However, you need an attorney (preferably one not associated
with Aglaura). Unfortunately, I'm just a dietitian. But I'll bet one
of my friends who has also been in contact with you is an attorney and
would be willing to help.

Good luck, Keith, stay safe.

Heather
