There you go JackofSpades. :p

@Dunn. I'll tell some one for sure. Either my brothers or one of my parents. I want to wait until after I cool down though, I'm very angry with those two losers right now.

Well, they/he/she/it/ninjas appear to be actually running something, whether it is simply riddles or some kind of a thing, you know, whatever, and so: let us get to the playing of it. Or not. Either way, now that you've put your mind at rest about RL security issues, humor 'em a little.

Yeah, I have a great idea! I'm assuming they'll email again tomorrow, so when they do, I'm going to reply with a little riddle of my own. :p

I'll have to put some thought into so that it sounds good, but basically I'm going to make all of the first words spell out: "I know who you are Emery and Jerry". Something like that, I'm still working out the kinks. It would be so funny though!

Oh, and here's your soda by the way:

Edit: Ok, I've got such a great idea! I remember Jerry wore a shirt today with a cartoon looking guy on it with duct tape over his mouth. It said, "Silence is gold, duct tape is silver". So here's my idea. After writing the email wtih riddles that spell out, "I know who you are" (or whatever I'm going to write), I'm going to write, "Highlight ->", then in white text I'll say, "Silence is gold, duct tape is silver."

lol this is going to be hilarious!

Mmm, we'll see what happens. This "Brotherhood of the Fallen Warriors" thing, whatever it is, I emailed asking for any information they could give me. We may know who they are now, but I'd like to see if they still have more material to throw at us, lol.

For the record, I noticed the answers a page before SirQuady's post.. but I'm not posting until now. They're not really riddles per se, but great misdirection.

I'm glad Melonie worked out who this is that's sending her emails. I'm also glad this isn't an ARG, because it had one hulluva rocky start.

I'm slightly disappointed that the emailers tried to turn this into something it wasn't - it didn't make matters any better to say the least for them.

From that you see by, (Eye - I)
I decline your request, (No - Know)
Like owl's call at night, (Hoot - Who)
To mother sheep can attest. (Ewe - You)

Relinquish my first letter, (R - Are)
Emery and Jerry.
I've just gone one better,
Now say you're sorry.

Well.. yeah, it's badly written and the clues are poor at best, but then.. theirs wasn't exactly poetry either.

Obes. Twisted Evil

(Disclaimer - The Mad Hatter is neither a 'Emery' nor a 'Jerry'. He is a 'Chris').

Obes' post is the most entertaining one in this entire topic.

Kind of funny to think two church group guys are spewing forth odd emails...

Their raven

Quote:
I did not choose Melonie to send first. I found a bunch of emails and decided to send this to everyone across the globe. Now, The Raven is an uncontrollable force which is going to decimate earth very soon. Not much is fully known about it. Some of us beleive that it is the same raven that was on Noah's Ark. The only point of these messages is to worn people. Many say Jesus is coming soon. But first comes The Raven. He is not Satan, or any of his demons. This is somthing far worse. You can look all around all day and see the clues. A cloud forms into a bird. You see an unusually large amount of birds in a cemetery. The signs are everywhere. The main duty we perform is to tell people not to be fooled by his tricks. And certainly not to join him.

Here's their raven of dispersion, btw: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A'arab_Zaraq
Edit: The ' breaks the link, so you have to highlight and copy it to the addressbar if interested, basically it is unbalanced passion (qliphotic netzach)

Ok, I sent this email to them:

"In my mind lingers thoughts and questions...

Keeping every recent event in memory
Not even knowing if they could help me
Onward pondering and thinking I did
Wondering if in my questions, I was amid

Browsing through every sentence, letter, & word
Only to find my questions unheard
To think that something so random as this
Had fallen into my fingertips

Often times I'd try to guess
Feeling as though my thoughts were helpless

Yielding to questions that seemed to fly by
Only to discover that I
Understand all the answers...

Highlight-> Silence is golden, duct tape is silver."

I'm not the best poet on earth, but it should serve it's purpose. :p

:-(

Okay that's totally not cool. I just spent half an hour here reading all this waiting to see what the Brotherhood deal was and suddenly Meloni or whatever jumps up and says oh hey, it's the two goobs from church, thanks, see ya, here's a coke and a smile, toodles - and everyone's just "oh cool, that's that."

Are you kidding? Now I know how guys feel after that dinner date when there's no "nightcap" ...............

Just a few questions to pacify me on this.

The ones who picked it up and tried to play it back - did the mystery person acknowledge they've wrapped it up?

Something just doesn't jive here and if I missed something (which is entirely possible) then I apologize but this girl shows up, referred by a bud online to see if the weird email's a possible arg. She says she's clueless, thinks it's a stalker. ARG people following leads it's a game come back with Emory and Jerry and lo and behold girl just happens to know two goobers from church??? But not that well? And oh hey, they got her email off a roster??? Problem solved, thanks guys?

Did I miss it - did the emailer cop to being emory or jerry from church or explain why they bothered with her when they didn't know anything about her?

What I'm getting at is she was referred here...ARG central.

Let's assume this is a reality situation - 2 goobers at church like ARGs and think it'll be cool to launch via random cryptic emails to people whose names they swiped off the roster at youth camp or wherever.

Problem: they might know about ARG if they're doing this at all, but how did their recipient manage to get from real time to online to here? If she really didn't know what ARG was, and she's that paranoid about people being stalkers, why put her personal business on the net to someone she doesn't know? That behavior doesn't jive with that mentality, is all I'm saying....and it just so happens she does it anyway (despite being paranoid someone offline is a stalker) and coincidently the one she mentions it to just so happens to find it ARG like and refers her here.

Maybe Dunn didn't play yall, maybe Melonie played Dunn....and Melonie isn't who Melonie says she is, and is more connected to "emory and jerry" than some vague church deal.

I am someone you know but do not see.

I am an online bud. You don't know me, but you deal with me regularly - that direction is where I'm headed. And then soon as yall "busted" emory and jerry, suddenly he/they stop being all poetic and cryptic and start rolling off the big conspiracy, and then doing so in a not so controlled manner....it seemed they had it going on initially til the ARGonauts started losing interest and about to decide it's spam and somebody's a stalker, blow this off, call the cops....and the sudden confession was because they/he/she were about to lose the ball on your interest, so they went ahead with the Raven tales. That struck me totally as more of a damage control recovery thing than a deliberately timed revelation. No sooner did yall zero in, suddenly Melonie gets it all cleared up.

However, Melonie is excused via the mystery mailers, she's allegedly just a tool to get the word out.....only the word out came HERE for yall. I get it that it's fiction - but presumably realistic...so if two goobers from church were really bored and decided to kick off an ARG and bait Melonie the preacher's daughter, odds are it would've remained a local thing and she never would've ended up here SPECIFICALLY.

It's unlikely that Melonie just happens to get a poetic email in reality and wonders if it's a stalker. If Melonie was who she claimed and was clueless, Melonie would've read it, squinted her eyes and said *hmph, whatever....* DELETE. Even if she was 14 years old and stupid, she never would've ended up here out of it, and of it and church goobers would be SOOL.

Melonie, who is paranoid about stalkers in her town, instead does the illogical and goes online and chats up people that direction and goes I got this weird email, do you think it could be a stalker?

Melonie, who is paranoid about stalkers based on the flimsiest of evidence, chats up virtual people - people she knows, but doesn't see, people she sees, but doesn't know instead of asking her preacher dad what he thought, or a sister, or brother, or RT friend....

And she ends up HERE. She just happens to know someone online who just so happened to be inclined already to be receptive to suspect emails, and that person suggests ARG........

Melonie - from church - and the guys from church and the pastor father - and the cryptic emails all about Noah's Ark and the dove, all religious in nature....and she just happens to encounter a convenient online ARG fan who ever so helpfully suggested ARG central....oh hey, I got a dopey email, do you think it's a stalker? I'm really scared!

I.E. Damsel In Distress bait.

See where I'm headed?

PS Yes I'm new posting, but have lurked awhile learning stuff, this is a first shot attempt....and my conclusion on this one is that the one that "referred" her here got played (since they stressed it in a post) and it's Melonie that overlooked the obvious....why handle it online instead of offline? Why go to strangers first to see if it's a stalker rather than people in her r/t - she'd never have ended up here for any reason if Melonie was legit and the story was legit. Otherwise, Melonie's the PM trying to launch, as somebody suspected.

So now what's up with the Raven? Now that Melonie conveniently figured out (and how the hell did she do that???) it's the church dudes (i.e. she sure learned some fleshing out techniques in a hurry for someone who didn't know what a PM was), and she's passing around the cokes, who emailed Jerry and Emory again to say Melonie bailed, let's have some more meat - we're playing?

Melonie's a deliberate herring. I'd betcha money Laughing

Just typing out loud. Wink

If you check the link ElGamer provided, you'll find that there is a very real and legit forum that Melonie is a part of. She trusts the people there, so doesn't think anything of posting a frightening situation and asking for advice. One of the other members of the forum happens to know what ARGs are and directs her here.

The people on this other forum seem to know Melonie fairly well. That, to me, indicates that she's been a member for a while. It's highly unlikely that someone attempting to run an ARG would involve a completely and totally unrelated forum. Plus, it wasn't one of the PMs in disguise that directed her to these forums.

I emailed the other day, when "he" told me "his" name was Ravyn Skifyre. While I'd been content to play along because, quite frankly, it amused me, that horribly half-assed name just turned me off. I emailed "him" saying that if they wanted their prank to be even remotely believable, they should think up better names. Now, someone who was genuinely named this way, or a PM playing a character that was genuinely named this way, would likely send some kind of response, either a defensive response, angry response, or a response agreeing that "his" parents were cruel, cruel people for naming "him" that.

I've got no reply. When I stated that I was aware it was a prank, the emails stopped. I doubt that would've happened if this were an ARG. I do believe there's a chance it might have started out that way, but I think if that was the intention of these two guys from church, they realized they hadn't exactly planned it well. Or maybe they didn't and are all sore now that they've been found out. Or, the most likely thing in my mind, this was nothing more than some stupid prank.

Got it

Thanks -

I wasn't suggesting Melonie wasn't an actual person....just that the issue of stalker vs arg is clumsy...but Melonie stressed in initial posts she didn't know anything about any ARG or what it even was....but by page 8, Melonie's managed a "last name search" that managed to be traced to Jerry and Emory from church - whether they exist or not isn't the point. Jerry's a common name, what method of last name searching on Jerry and Emory led her to the church guys? Also, by page 8, she's suggesting nobody email and let on they've been busted??? Now suddenly she wants to reply with a cryptic email...and the emails stopped?

Come on......

Melonie, church guys, all might be very real and playing the arg... but she claimed to be clueless but if it was legit, she wouldn't have handled a real threat by going online and kicking it around with arg fans. She very well might handle it with other online people she knows, but she wouldn't be HERE is my point. It seems like she baited Dunn and he opened the door.

Let alone in less than a month transit from assuming a PM is private message to suddenly writing some nifty cryptic poetry to send back to church guys. That doesn't happen in "real life" - and my whole red flag was if it's all an arg and Melonie's a character, the stalker vs arg is clumsy at best. But if Melonie's a real person who really, in real life got cryptic emails and seriously, in real life, worried it was an offline stalker, there's a logical predictable behavior that we're all wired with called threat deflection - and offline is immediate/potential threat - she wouldn't have *really* ended up here if this was true.

She'd have more than likely deleted it to begin with and church guys or whoever would've been stonewalled. She didn't do that.........she ran with the first one and that's not what threatened people do. And once she busted them, she wouldn'g come back HERE to play the game. She'd go confront them in person and handle it.

But she also posted that she was mad at them and would eventually tell people she knew, even tho she gets it it's not really threatening. I don't think this is a real case that yall are helping Melonie play the church guys with a cheesehead arg - I think it's a real case Melonie's playing her own and trying it out on you....

Forgive my expression but this all has such a "premature ejaculation" nuance to it and she was too quick to wrap it up. Doesn't mean she's an evil person - but maybe she just wanted to toss one off on you guys and see about it....

I disagree. I have friends online, and if I was worried about an email but wasn't sure if it was real, I'd talk to them about it. To me, that doesn't seem at all out of the ordinary. I don't think you can really say what someone else would or wouldn't do in a situation. You can say what you think someone would do, but you can't claim it as fact. My belief is that Melonie reacted in a perfectly normal fashion, and given the information she was presented by a person she trusted, she came here and posted this.
