My guess is that Dimitri took them gave those pics (of James) to MLO during that lunch, hence the dimitri.jpg They look as if they were taken secretly, paparazi style
James looks quite distracted in those pics , in the last 2 it looks as if he is laying on the wet ground in front of what appears to be barb wire Question

It may not be barb wire - it looks kinda like some kind of skinny reeds.

In #5 it looks like he spots Dimitri taking the photos...

Seems to imply that he was meeting with dimitri to talk about james, which kind of implies the pictures might not be off dimitri at all, but james as previously thought

Question

Makes a lot of sense. After all, Dimitri is not missing if you can have lunch with him.

I think tapestry is a form of binary, or even trinary.
No repeated patterns at a glance. Is there such a thing as trinary? On off and half?

Could the tapestry pic be some kind of Data Matrix Barcode? I know there's demo software out there somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment.

That's an assumption I've been thinking about. But it is actually more like base 4, or something.

Basically, the smallest unit here sems to be a 10 by 10 (or thereabouts) pixel square. this can be coloured in one of four ways:

Giving you basically two bits per square in binary. If we have top/left = high bit, bottom/right=low bit and black=0, white=1 then we get:
    = 00 (binary) = 0 decimal
    = 01 (binary) = 1 decimal
    = 10 (binary) = 2 decimal
    = 11 (binary) = 3 decimal

So you could conceivably come up with a long binary string that may be ascii.

The main problem with this approach is the assumptions about which bit is more significant, and which colour is 0/1

Also it'll take hours and hours to decode unless someone writes a nice peice of region growing/vision code, and I've more or less forgotten how to do that since leaving uni.

I like the barcode idea better, it's more automated (and much less effort for us or the pm's). Meanwhile I'll try this approach when I get off work..........

We're discussing how to decode this in the "Puzzles" forum...

Help out over there! Very Happy

I don't know if this reply should be a part of the thread here or over in Puzzles, so here I go anyway.

Has anyone looked at what's behind James Avery? Look on the wall. It looks like the letters "IC" with an arrow right below them that seem to point at James. I've attached a photo to show you. Also, at the top left of the area I highlighted, you'll see what looks like the profile of a person. It reminded me of the October 1st picture.

"IC" and the "profile" highlighted

I thought about that as well, but the wall cuts off what would be the beginning of the letter H. I looked at the photo and the lower left part of the H isn't on the wall. It ends up looking like this: -|C. (An "I" with a minus sign attached to it.)

Discussions regarding the images and the nature of the files should go here.. Discussion on what the tapestry implies should go into puzzles..

But since there has been some confusion I'll just save everybody the hassle of jumping between two threads and lock this one. Discuss everything about these files in the Puzzles thread
