It looks kinda like three distinct sine waves pasted together. Any way to use that fancy audio-visual program to at least guesstimate the frequencies? The periods all seem to be less than 0.15, but its hard to tell from the pictures.

For those who are interested this is how I figured out the crypto puzzle.

I used an excel sheet to do the Beaufort translation. Then, since frequency analysis wasn't getting me anywhere fast, I made a third table to track instances of Q Z and X in the clear-text. Then I went through the key and found values that had none (or in the cases where that wasn't possible then 1) of those instances. Trying to choose key values that lead to clear-text that made sense with that which was already translated.

Russel_k:
Just wondering if the small bit of garble to the file at about 17 seconds,
in the second use of 'operative' is from your recording,
or if it might also be "noise"?

Unfortunately the noise at 17 seconds is just an artifact created by skype. So do ignore that...

Just got a phone call from that voice! Answered it so I don't have it saved in any way. Screen any calls!

There was the sound of numbers being dialed at the end though.

At what point did you give them your phone number to be called on?

None, but they could've got it from me calling.

I got another ID Unavailable call and didn't answer so I would get it on voice mail. Well . . . no voice mail. Sad

phone call

I too got a call with a mechanical voice, but my son instantly hung up on it saying "hey -that was weird, a call with a mechanical voice."

I didn't ever give my number that I recall - but they could have gotten it from my calling the in-game number.

There is a new message when you call the number, which includes phone tones at the end of the message. I don't have a way of recording it, hopefully someone else does.

I've got a recording, sounds like crap because of the way I got it but at least it's something.

wow that recording is really bad. I only heard "there are only a few more tests you must pass"

any phone phreaks out there that can tell what tones correspond to which keys? It's composed of roughly 18 tones.

I even tried putting my phone up to the speaker to see if it would accept the tone dialing, but all I got was "Please hang up and try your call again.

Tried to analyze which numbers the tones correspond to. Got this:

37748990991269133962

The low quality means it could be wrong. Probably is wrong as it didn't work on technologic.html.

I imagine there's another step to be taken once we actually get the right numbers, like translating them out of hex or making a word with their placement on a phone pad.

I've gotten something like: 377456696915466965. The first 8 do spell EPSILON according to phonespell.org, but the rest don't add anything sensible.

[ETA] Got it! It's
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
3774566#6642766#68
, which spells

epsilon omicron nu
, so if you put in

EON
you'll move on to the next page:
