It's a simple restriction on a contest, which are imposed every day on every contest. EX: You must 13 or older. you must be 18 or older. you must be 21 or older. Must be a resident of the State of __________. Must have a valid driver's license.
etc. etc. etc.
Do you actually think that Philip Morris would do something "border line illegal" for something as dumb as a contest? I don't think they would risk lawsuit when they have enough problems with that.

I wasn't saying Philp Morris was wrong, I said that maybe people we're reading into the "have to be a smoker" thing too much. I haven't even read the disclaimer, so i really wouldn't know. I was just letting people know that forcing you to buy something to win is illegal, thats all.

As a wise woman (or was it John Belushi?) once said:
"Just because I gave up cigarrettes for my New Year's Resolution, doesn't mean I gave up smokin'!"
Just sayin'....

I went to the Marlboro Ranch last year and I had to get a form notarized saying that I was a smoker. So, it is a requirement I'm sure.

Contest out of hand already I've been working on some of these clues to help my daughter and her team out and while researching for Clue #77 I found that someone is putting misinformation out there trying to sabotage other contestants. They have a picture of the cowboy, they give an incorrect location though. They say that it's located in Denver Colorado. I have found out though from a friend of mine at the University of New Mexico that the actual location is in Pueblo Colorado, not denver. My friend lived there growing up and even stood underneath the thing. Be careful if your playing and watch for those shady dealings going on. Good Luck!

Just to clarify, cause I've gotten a few PMs, I'm not actually participating in this competition. I just posted the information cause it was right in front me and thought others would be interested.
Also, I would send you my packet, but my roommates name is flat out listed as the team leader, so I don't think anyone else can use it. Sorry.

marlboro outwit the west 3 Unfortunately, Marlboro is a cigarette company. They are trying to get people to smoke and will continue as this is their base of income. I agree that it is not necessary or effective to use name-calling when speaking or IMing to people in order to get your point accross as it makes you SOUND less intelligent. There are ways to state your point positively and not make someone else feel belittled. I happen to be a smoker and am playing the game. I have found a lot of the answers to be very easy if you look at the questions. The use of capitalization and some phrases practically give away the answers. This game, although it is aimed at smokers, should not incourage anyone to use cigarettes. If I hadn't started smoking at a very young age, I wouldn't start now just because of a game. If you aren't a smoker, you could always make an agreement with a member of a team and help them with the answers. With proper documentation, of course, you would then be able to collect the percentage of money that you previously agreed to collect from said player. No one in their right mind would start smoking just to play a game. Let's get real.

That one doesn't even come close to the size of another one out there.
In fact there are several larger than that one, just within the "Cowboy" group.
So be careful about what you get from others. If you really look for the answers, you'll see several disinformation attempts for many of the questions.

I have Outwit the West 3 answers! I have Outwit the West 3 answers! I have been working so hard at the clue book for Outwit the west 3. I have most of the answers and I can prove they are correct. The other day when I was expecting my confirmation packet, instead I got a letter saying they didn't get my registration in time, so I'm out of the contest.
If anyone is interested in bargaining for the answers I have, email me at sonyaparlierSPLAT hotmail.com
I have been to the Marlboro ranch, and it is the experience of a lifetime! I would do anything to go back. Good luck!
