I hate bumping a dead topic (and giving them free promotion), but the audition information has been updated yet again. Now they direct you to a new website to audition online thru a new networking website.

the fancy new graphic links to
http://www.zoobody.com/
which I have not yet investigated.

I REALLY NEED SOME ADVICE Has anyone heard of anyone getting identified as a semi-finalist ...??? Do we know for sure that this show is for real???
Does anyone know anything about the production company and/or the producer??
Thanks for any advice!

Semi Finalist I have received the Semi Finalist package to send back in by a certain date. Lots of forms, seems legit, they have waivers and standard personal questionnaire etc. And a non-disclosure agreement. It seems a little shady that they will not disclose where the semi finalist interview will be held until they receive my package and then someone will call me with the date and location. Also, they ask for me to pay for a complete background check, cost is $135. I'm new to this whole semi finalist thing, but doesn't it seem a little early to be doing all of this at the semi finalist stage? Wouldn't this be something for someone who is having a finalist interview? Plus, $135 is a lot for a background check. What are your thoughts?

Yeah...I'd be wary of that, too. Usually tv-shows just cover the most basic expenses of their participants, but if they charge...that's seriously suspicious!

Don't send these people any money. If they can't afford to do a background check then they can't afford to produce a show. I say skip it completely.

I would think that the show can pay for this. dont you? if not, how can they pay the $$ if we win?. I would like to believe it, but it is hard. wish i the show was tied up to a network or something. anyone else going threw this ?

A production firm that is promising $10,000,000 does not need $135. Please follow common sense and don't be blinded by dreams of fame and fortune.

Seconded. Don't bother with these people. For only $120 , I'll let you be a semifinalist in my contest for $1 billion!

i don't think it is a scam... i spoke with the production company today. they have a license. it is a real company. you don't have to pay them to do the background checks, they provide info if you would like to do your own and send it to them. the money doesn't go to them, it goes to the background check people. i think the only reason people have to pay for their own background checks is because since the show hasn't been picked up by a network yet (as most pilots aren't until they are filmed, of course) they don't want to take the chance of losing everything. just my two cents.

I sent in an app to get on the show and been following along to try and crack the code but after reading this I called the show's 800 # to see if this is for real b/c I have a lot of personal stuff on my app
I asked to speak with a producer and heres what he said:
It's standard practice in the production industry for applicants to cover the
cost assoc w/ application process or interviews. Bergs is an independent production company and requests the applicants cover their own costs. Once you are a finalist, there are no costs to be on the show. He said that while there is no contract signed yet w/ a major network, they are talking to networks. The auditions in LA were hosted on NBC's lot and Lou Pearlman (making the band) is the host for the Las Vegas auditions – cool
I asked him if selected why we have to pay for background checks and he said that if applicants want to pay to run their own checks through the same company and release Sabotage the results, they just have to ask for that on the form and $135 is small b/c it is a nationwide check including criminal, terrorist and predator searches and they get a private company rate for bulk requests. He said it's all about the players and production staff's safety on the show and semifinalist round is by invitation only so specific location info will be provided to select candidates through special invitation.
he said a few have cracked the code (not me - YET!). And he said that about 200 people of the interested applicants have been selected for the semi's.
On the same subject – have you guys seen the online app by zoobody for this show – way cool. I digress, sorry.
So I will keep tryin- Any more hints on the solve?
