Probably not important, but in the script they use to display the flash the object ID is set to "Thunderclap". Like I said, unlikely to be important but it does further confirm the link to Combed Thunderclap.

Watching the letters appear via Bri's movie, it looks to me like this transition is just a simple interlaced "ripple" type effect going on, coming in from both sides and then crossing over to fill the gaps in on the other side. You can make it out more clearly if you speed it up a little.

The different sized text is strange, like Marchant. Also, there are some punctuation marks in the 'bold' text : ? which I'm a bit confused about...

This is perhaps nothing, but I thought I would mention it for the sake of completeness. Near the bottom of the "eye" a little toward the left is a white space that forms a peculiarly structured shape in comparison with the rest of the background. It's very nearly a part of a W, but not quite. I've inverted the colours so it shows up a bit better.

Okay, so this is someone that could be (according to him/her) falsely accused of murder. It is someone who, until recently, has remained silent. Why talk now? It makes me wonder if this is someone who perhaps rode along with or fell through the original wormhole with the cube. Now that 3P agents are on Earth (with the SF Connection wormhole), this person is maybe getting nervous and fearing his/her life.

This still doesn't explain how this person can affect the link and the data on it--for instance adding the library folder to the Academy website and inserting the "Combed Thunderclap" message on the cards. So either he has his own access to the link, has access to Mind Candy's computers (ZOMG! MOLE!) or is perhaps otherwise linked to the data feed (psychically linked, trapped between worlds as a ghost in the machine, etc.)

Rose - I share your annoyance with myself, especially after saying "they're trying to point us towards the library of babel" following the sentinel astrology clues.
Sarah - I immediately thought of new york too. I know other american cities have yellow taxis and steam coming out of sidewalk gratings but this is the archetypal image and it says "I've seen it so many times". Also the new world reference suggests new york.
It does feel like a clue because of the "I started to understand" after the stuff about stumbling, falling, grazing, bleeding, real pain. I thought of "Eyes Wide Shut" and Macy Gray's "I try" because of stumble and she being in new york, though currently in outkast's idlewild. Just random thoughts which haven't got me anywhere, but maybe someone else.

I agree with Sarah and ramsfan...the Yellow Cab & steaming manhole-cover probably is the archetypical picture of New York. If it seems that way to us Europeans, somebody from another world would probably find it striking as well. (That's not to say that it couldn't be another city...Yellow Cabs have spread to almost everywhere, I take it. But the steam suggests cold, so San Francisco and the West-Coast is unlikely, I'd say.)



EDIT - Was there something around the New York PCAG event that could be related to this? The person in this call (received during the event) doesn't sound scared...but was it ever resolved who it was?

Here's my thoughts which basically summarizes some idea others have posted already:

The person who created this directory got brought to Earth with the Cube.

He or she is behind the message on the cards - "I stole the Cube. Help me. Combed Thunderclap."

Actually - should we refer to this person as "CT" using the codename he or she choose?

CT put the other numbers and markings on the cards. He has access somehow to the cards. But if CT is on Earth he or she doesn't necessarily have a data link to PPC- CT could have been following events the same way we have.

CT may be the person who recruited the Earth-based moles for the 3P.

CT knows that a murder was committed in connection with the theft by V. (The murder of the guard Fran)

CT knows that simply going back to PPC won't work he can be accused of murder.

CT was silent before the 3P arrived -even though innocent people, Pietro and Anna were killed - it is reasonable to assume that their arrival forced him or her to act.

CT arrived on Earth in New York at the same time as the Cube.arrived on Earth. This doesn't mean the Cube was in NY with CT or that CT is still here.
(and yay! for CT- he couldn't have picked a better location.) Note: steam comes up from the ground in NY during the summer too, it doesn't have to be cold.
