I got the answer from googling some of echidna's words. Not a very satisfying puzzle to me, at all. So, basically, if you can figure out what has 23 layers, you have the answer. The 9 colors don't matter? There is no 'code' asking a question here? The width of the rings don't matter? So this was basically a *guessing* game? Or did I miss a major step? I must've, if this is echidna's favorite! Razz

Received the card some days ago and was full of good intentions to take a look at it straight away, but only just got there Wink

Far too easy for a black card if you know anything about the original journey... Sad

I've never read the intended reference, but the card (almost) instantly reminded me of a 1998 article in The Onion which was somewhat of a spoof of it. Here ya go:

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I just worked out 222 Instigator really quickly, five minutes ago and decided to do this one as well. Because I was thinking about a certain graphic novel for 222, the answer to this one came to me immediately!!!!

Once again Rainbowtrout, you are a Queen of synchronicity!!!

Thanks again!!! Rock On Rock On

You're on the right track. Read the rest of the thread (only 3.5 pages). You'll figure out what word you haven't tried.

A totally different wrong answer

Having never seen the source material, this one was quite hard for me.

At one point I was on the visual representation track, but took a totally different direction:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
With the widths and color shades, I thought it was a top view of a stack of circles, like a topo map. A rough sketch gave something like (look at the Xs. I'm to lazy to whip out Paint, and HTML doesn't like leading spaces):

..................................XXXX
................................X
.............................X
.........................X
..................X
.........X

which looked a lot like a profile of Mt. Fuji to me.

Totally wrong, but I wonder if this concept might show up in the future.
