Ok it seems a bit messy. But here's the situation:

all operatives registered at Lamba-systems should get at least 1 email that contains a messed up jpg of a fractal pattern. If you open it in notepad, or any text editor, you should be able to scan through the gibberish binary carefully and find a phrase embedded inside.

The mess is for people who have changed their email. We can't tell if/when they'll send out another email to the new address. But when you get the image, you need to put the phrase you find into the input box on the mission page, for the Extraction assignment.

I received another email with the attached image, and the following embedded text.

I just got an image emailed myself. Looks the same as a previous one, has different text embedded.

I must be doing something wrong. I have the image. I opened it up in notepad and another editor and can find no readable text inside besides some XML markup and some Adobe Photoshop info. Certainly nothing that looks like a phrase as such have been posted...
Thoughts?

Addendum: I searched for a word and found the text.. here's what my image had in it.

I have the same trouble when I use Notepad, because the binary displays so much gibberish that the plain English does not stand out, especially if it is a very very short line.

My solution has been to use hexedit.exe, just a little Hex Editor program I downloaded way back when. Its display window leaves most of the binary displayed as just dots, which makes the readable characters stand out more. Plus, the display window is very narrow, which bunches together the letters in a short line of text and helps it to 'pop' on the screen.

(I think my attachment has already been received by others, so I won't bother posting it here. Pretty soon we'll have a wiki for storing these pieces.)

So, Putting it all together for the moment gives us:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Landa -- you must deliver us the internet. Things here in New York have been interesting. The world seems to be ready for our plan, Landa, and we are waiting for your end to finish up. Several countries have opposed our planned course of action however. The United States has been surprisingly noncompliant, as has China and Japan. Needless to say, they know little about our plan to wrest control of internet resources from their governments and their politicians. That feeling has caused elections to change, everywhere from Canada with AdScam, to Lebanon, with the Cedar revolution. It is this feeling that they can't possibly understand. Hrm. Gmail obviously doesn't work. Yahoo doesn't seem to work. Nor does Hotmail. I'm pretty much out of email addresses... can anyone suggest one that DOES work? I'm down to my last option, which I'm about to try out.
