questions...

I'm pretty new to the whole ARG world and I was interested in creating my own ARG. Before I take my ideas any further, I just had a few questions...

1) What makes a good ARG?

2) Which is more important, a good interactive storyline or tons of puzzles?

3) One of my ideas is kind of like a "whodunnit" one. How successful are games like that? And are they any easier to manage etc.. than other types of games?

4) Are there any secrets to making a popular game?

If there's any other advice you'd like to share, please do. I need all the help/opinions/advice I can get.

By far the best way to answer some of your questions is to get on board an ARG as a player and find out for yourself. Playing an ARG lets you get a feel for exactly what sort of things are good, etc, and it gives you valuable experience that you simply can't get otherwise.

I'd second this, strongly.

Before you go trying to make a game, you really should play some.
