i'm pretty sure that Jorges Luis Borges is not Satoshi seeing as his name is not Satoshi and our guy doesnt look like he was alive in 1941 to have written the library....

Yes it is completely unrelated. Which is why I asked for an explanation.

C'mon, let's not discount this theory too quickly...we can't be sure that Jorge Luis Borges is Jorge Luis Borges. In reality, he could be Jorge-Satoshi Luis Borges-Kaneda or something...and if he was, that would at least make him pretty easy to track down:

Anyone wanna make sure? Wink

I took that statement to mean that Satoshi could be the one writing the messages and/or communicating them to us, rather than he's the Borges chappy. But I may be wrong.

writing which messages, exactly?

personally i think thats a non-starter in terms of where to look.

my other random thought is that satoshi could be a surname, not a first name.

The mysterious Combed Thunderclap is leaving us messages in the subdirectory of the Academy's website called Library of Babel, the story from which his codename comes. Given that ixalon posted this:

Quote:
When talking to Fiona about the wording on the billion2one site, she said:

Quote:
We are worried that people will construe this as meaning that Mr. X will be able to assist in the hunt for the Cube, or that he may know where it is, neither of which are likely to be the case.

a couple of pages back, he's hardly going to be the guy who stole the Cube in the first place.

This may be a little crazy, but has anyone tried going to the town pictured and looking for Satoshi? If he's actually still there, the town is small enough that it might be possible to find him.

I would do it myself, but I am far away (US) and poor.

Go back one page, posts 3 and 4.

Beglee and I both favoured the idea, but it seems to have been dismissed.

Well, thank you for not showering me with fish after my first post, at least.

sorry for the late reply I ment the messages at the end of the page

This is how it was, then. I stumbled onto it. I never intended to steal anything. In fact, it was more that it stole me. I touched it and we were gone. I didn't know that could happen. I didn't know anything. But I'm starting from the wrong place again. You'll have to excuse me. It's been a long time and I haven't known who I could tell, or if I could tell anyone.

Begin at the beginning, then. I am a person, a real person, a single individual in Perplex City. I buried the Cube on Earth. And I will try to tell you how, but the hows are less apparent than the whys, and even they are obscure. Remember this: don't look for me, I know you're already trying. Because those other people? They're looking for me too. And if you find me, I don't know who will travel with you.
Fellow-travellers can be dangerous: I should know.

OK so that cleared up one big misconception - you meant the PXC wiki, not wikipedia. Different library etc etc

Well, it's a bit out of the question for someone like myself to travel those thousands of miles around the world, but maybe a player lives closer and can show up there in less than an hour? http://www.frappr.com/whereistherecedacube It couldn't hurt to just look around and identify the buildings.

For what it's worth, I could actually get there in about 5 hours for roughly 70€. But due to time constraints (and the small chance of actually finding anything) I really can't go there at the moment... Neutral
Also, I guess someone like Bookmore (who's spoken French is a little less...spotty...than mine) could actually be a little more helpful.

But if the cube and/or Satoshi haven't been found in about 4-6 weeks time, I just might fancy a little trip to Alsace then... Smile
