Well if it fans out to be a large scale arg, it would be nice, but for the moment it just feels like we're being baited along.

On the topic of the iron pills:

In the park video, when she's asked if her dad is making her take those pills, she implies that he is.

If you look in the video before that, the house arrest video, Bree is seen wearing a tank top. On her left arm is a bandage. When asked about in her comments, she mentions that "its nothing...i had to get a shot"

Iron pills are taken to regain lost blood.

I'm thinking maybe it's part of a religious ritual? Her parents are making her draw blood or something?

Creepy.

Other "Jane Does" Music

That catchy song 'Junkie' from the "Swimming" video that the Cassie sub-plot has spun off of? I was listening to some of their other songs on myspace (http://www.myspace.com/thejanedoes) and found the song 'All' an interesting tangent.

BTW - The spelling of "oozy" is theirs, I just C&P'd lyrics from their page and fixed the the linebreaks to match the pace of the song.

I wanna be him with the sinister grim,
walking with the legs that stop at her chin,
and talking to hide her nervous battle within
empowered he decides if she will sink or sin

I wanna be all

I want your youth, to you it's no use,
blind to the layers that bind and confuse,
I will eat you absorb for you are my food,
nourish my blood with your delectable juice

I sit inside my little home
also known to be skin and bones
just me and my heart all alone
it tells me to move out
we argue until I shut down
no lights no love the windows are all closed

I wanna be rich and sue and judy,
I wanna be you behind the trigger of an oozy,
I wanna be who you believe, who you believe

If you take it as an "in-game" assumption that Daniel choose the song 'Junkie' while editing the "Swimming" video, then he's also likely to know this song from the same band. Depending on where this whole story eventually goes, that could be an incredibley strong foreshadowing, though in kind of a meta-fan-fic way..

Since you're on top of it

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060914/ap_en_ot/online_mystery_solved_11

Just saw it on Yahoo News for 9-16, thought I'd pass it along.

Edit: And this caught my eye:

Quote:
Amateur sleuths unearthed clues, and stories about the show appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and other publications, finally forcing the three creators of the Lonelygirl videos to fess up.

You know they're referring to all you guys, right? ;D Way ta go...ya made Yahoo news!

Flattering, but I think they might be talking about these sleuths.

Well, after yesterday's cassieiswatching madness, I gotta say: Good call on keeping the threads separate, rowan. Your hunch proved right...

Anyway, one thing that came of it is a new statement by The Creators concerning the future of LonelyGirl15 (and their involvement with cassieiswatching):

We have plans to incorporate more ARG elements into LG15 so we are excited to see such a vigorous investigative response to cassieiswatching despite the fact that the subject matter is darker than we would like.

We'll see where this goes...right now, I think they'd better get their act together before the opportunity they created slips through their fingers.

...so if it's bad when PMs launch without spending enough time developing the game, what does that make it when you've already launched and then decide to make it an ARG? really really bad?

Only if you're the one really running the game. If it's someone else, then they new suck and are borderline trollish. Of course, that makes people trying to mess with the game that's messing with the original storyline really pathethic. But that's just my take on the whole thing. I like the Bree stuff. Cassie can go jump in the lake.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but you're talking about the GameJackers (cassieiswatching) and the people subsequently trying to rip that off (MySpace Cassie, etc.), right?
FWIW, I think colin was referring to the statement by the creators of LonelyGirl15, assuming that they want to make the "Bree stuff" into an ARG by incorporating "more ARG elements into [the original] LG15"... Confused

I guess maybe I was reading it wrong, but then again, just because you have ARG elements doesn't mean it's an ARG, so it's hard to say just how bad things can get.

Woah. multiple videos released in the last week or so, and not one comment.

Everyone's given up on this, right?

I've been watching them. But, yeah, I think people were interested in the fallacy more than the story. If the makers had not come out so obviously there would still be a bit more interest, even knowing it's fake.

There's been a really high level of cynacism towards to motives of the people making this. It seems people aren't so positive to the 'blair witch effect' these days.

I'm still watching the videos, but there's not much for me to talk about anymore. My current reaction is "Meh".

The producers had huge potential with this. They could have taken it in any direction and kept it obviously fake but extremely enjoyable.

Instead we get an anti-climatic reveal, followed by... nothing! Pretending nothing happened, confusing everyone, and going back into their corner. And then they redesign lonelygirl15.com, and move to revver, while weird things happen on the forums. The last nail in the coffin for me was Bree dancing on Leno... eh, double-u tee ef?

Agree with colin. The story isn't that appealing and they haven't built in the required interactivity to follow the demands of the audience. Woo Daniel kissed Bree! Where's my evil dark virgin sacrificing cult!

This might have been pure genius, but it's very obvious now that it was just beginner's luck. Someone should go over there and buy them a new Curtain. Idiots.

I think the cynacism is in large part due to the distrust of radically different forms of entertainment. It happens, they will eventually ease into new ideas, but for now they feel betrayed because no one spelled out what exactly was real or not. Personally I thought lg15 was real, you can go back about 7 or 8 pages and see, but I didn't feel bad when it was revealed to be fake. I don't know what all the lg15 fan boys/girls were crying about.

The plot thickens... Smile

Bree has been brainwashed into joining the Hymn of One; click here to see her 'recruitment movie', and here to visit the homepage of the cult.
