Bonick or sonick
yumoy * (not positive)
cask (c)

Just normal old graffiti.. using hello my name is stickers is COMMON
with normal graffiti, not in gang graffiti, but in the normal graffiti scene
taggers will and quite often do use stickers, the benefit is you don't
have to be as noticable, these aren't marking territory, they are just
'getting up'. Sorta like an ad-hoc advertising scheme.

I've heard of Cask before, and seen his 'work' on the 110 heading towards
the 101.. So I dont think its a clue

So once again, I repeat this is NOT gang graffiti, gangn graffiti is often full of pitchforks, and more jagged. I would also like to note, that these people (other then cask) appear to be newbs at the whole thing, their tags don't flow like that of someone with a lot of experience. (too many pen lifts) Also they sort of have forced flare (flair?). Just my 2cts..

My trip into Boston was disappointing. Sad

I went to the parking lot under Boston Commons. It has 3 levels, color coded, but not anything like the garage in the picture, and nothing to suggest 8-23 or B-23.

I then went to the garage under the Prudential Building ( thinking that it may be a way www.lifeandcasualty.com gets into the game, since Prudential is an insurance co). Anyway 4 levels , the supporting columns are different shape, and the parking area is mapped out via North, south. Again nothing to suggest 8-23 or B-23.

I have not gone to the government center lot, which I know is also underground, but without any further clues, I suspect this will be a wild goose chase

Well, if we know two of the cd's are identical anyway, it probably means they all are, and put a lot of them all over the country just to be sure we got at least one. So don't sweat it.

On the other hand, any chance to go to Faneuil Market for a chowderbowl is worth it.

does boston have something like a 'mapsco' map book for the city? or maps in the front of the phone book? those could be a grid pattern, and may help narrow your search. It is possible that (Due to lack of information) that the phone locations, and the parking garage arent't the location of clues, they are either meet me points, or 'safe' phones/places..

My friend just got an envelope from the Vegas location. There were 3 payphones there, they are kind of on top of this counter thing, and the envelope was stuck underneath it. It said "do not remove - scavanger hunt" or something like that, inside is a cd with "Emerson" on it.

I got this guy to go to Alladdin (after my 2 other girlfriends fell through). He is going to get home in about 30 min, at which time I HOPE he will send me the files. As he is not a close friend, and he had to sit in traffic on the strip for 40 min, he is royally pissed and might not want to deal with sending me the files right away. However, if he does, and they might be too big for my e-mail (hotmail) to handle them, is anybody willing to deal with an upload to their site or something?

He is actually driving out to CA this weekend; I'm going to meet him and take the envelope. UNLESS the consensus is that it should be placed back after we have the files, in which case I have to think hard about how to do it, 'cause he doesn't sound like he would be willing to go back there at the moment, lol.

As an aside, I find it curious that we have not been able to find anything in Santa Monica. The note doesn't actually say "Colorado & PCH" - it uses this math symbol (attached) that means "belong/in the set of" - as in "1 [symbol] Integers", where Integers is a set of integers. The symbol is written/rotated 90 to the left; maybe the envelope is not @ "Colorado & PCH", but somewhere else? Or maybe I'm just giving it too much thought.

Lastly, I just hope that there are some new files in there...

[EDIT] Sorry for calling that stuff "gang graffiti" - I'm not at all familiar with this, and couldn't tell the difference even if I wanted to. [EDIT]

Same. No luck in S.M. We got a lot of stares, and I actually saw the Happy Birthday envelope myself and almost flipped, but it was nothing, just a bunch of colorful stickers spelling out happy birthday. I saw the tags too, but didn't think much. I also went all the way to the very NW corner of the pier, and saw the candy too. It's all yellow with these weird brown twiggy things stuck to it. Gross. I also went inside Lobster, that hoity-toity seafood restaurant on the corner, and I asked about their payphone, and the chick behind the counter gave me this whole "Oh we don't do that sort of thing" speech. That netted nothing. I also checked the remainder of Colorado's Payphones up to the McD's on 2nd, but nada.
We did notice a sign that said "Sueno" on PCH heading north. Sueno being Spanish for dream. We followed those signs, but found nothing.

I really hope some homeless guy didn't make off with the CD.

Another CD with Emerson on it, sounds the same to me. I hope I am proved wrong.

Yeah, that's definitely possible, I'd even say - more likely. I hope to be proved wrong as well.

I'm thinking that all the CDs are the same. It's possible that they're different, but it seems like they're going to be identical.

If there's one or two locations that are unsuccessful, don't worry. The PMs will, I'm sure, find another way to get us the clues/pictures/info, probably by way of a web page.

I still think it's cool as all heck that there are actually CDs out there in the "real world", linking the game universe to the real world.

Yeah it's cool just a pity they couldn't post one to England! Laughing

Thwacker... I feel for you... I hate that place, it is so filthy... but, my god, where could that envelope possibly be? I don't think it's going to be important (i.e. they are probably just dupes), but it still nags me Mad

Can you imagine how those original cd's will become collectors items in 25 years or so when this turns out to be the game that changed the face of ARG forever? Hang on to them whoever found them! They might pay for your house in Florida one day! Wink

Good job! =)

Do you know if the envelope was taped, and with what kind of tape? Or was it just wedged in between stuff?

I keep thinking back to yeahyeah's high friend who saw some tape on the ground under one of the payphones. If the Vegas CD used the same tape, that would be really interesting. Though, I would assume that the PMs just sent it to various friends who placed them, rather than flying around the country putting them in place.

To me, the "Do not remove" MUST be targeted at people who don't know about the game.

The fact is, we in the game have to remove the CD, to see what's on it! If it was something else (like a note) we should leave it, but the fact is, we are forced to take these.

This is a really interesting point!

I researched this a little and it does mean "belongs to." Hmm... what does that mean? I'm not sure it makes a different though becuase what is important is the location is the pier, not the intersection. So once you locate the pier, the Colorado and PCH information doesn't really matter you know?

For fun, I will attach a closeup map of the pier and also an airphoto. It will be useful to the rest of us who can't go there to understand why this phone is difficult to find; there isn't really a NW corner of the pier.
