IN PERSON: Got an ID badge! After the dinner group dispersed tonight, we headed up to the hotel room and found something slipped under the door! It's a little 3x5 ziplock baggie, and it had a note and an ID badge in it.
The note is unlined white paper, with this written on it in purple crayon:
Quote:
Chicago didnt work out.
You'll need this soon, so keep it
safe.
The ID badge has an NRU logo in the upper left hand corner. Next to it is written "ACCESS LEVEL BRAVO 4". The space where a photo would be is blank. The name is "JACOB STARKEY PHYSICS STAFF". A number is on the right hand side: 092312.
Obviously I don't have access to a scanner right now, but I'll upload pics once we get back home.
Edit: Doh, I just realized I could take a picture of the stuff and upload!

Magesteff received a similar package tucked into her purse on Saturday night (not too difficult for an ex-spook to arrange). She was walking on air after that. Since she is sans computer for the moment, she asked me to photograph and post.
Her note was almost identical to the one Addlepated received, scrawled on plain white paper in a purple crayon. The same message, "Chicago didnt work out. You'll need this soon, so keep it safe." Since I couldn't get a good shot of it with my camera (under very poor circumstances, trying to photgraph the objects in PF Chang's restaurant), I'm not including it here, but I'm sure Magesteff will post once she has access to a scanner.
The badge was different. This one is a Temporary Visitor pass, with access level Delta 2, and the number "211892" on the side. A photo (again, rather poor quality) is attached for reference. I'm sure Magesteff will post a better quality version when she can.
It would appear that the game is returning from hiatus.

In Person (sort of) Contact: RK From the looks of what Addie put up on her note, it looks like the same person wrote both notes, only real difference is that mine looks like the letters were PERHAPS scrawled in a bit more haste, some of the loops on mine are very squashed or small, and the letters are a bit more uneven in the line.
The scanner is at Work, so it will be at least Wedneday before I can get a better copy up.
Thanks Laz and Addie for getting these up so quickly, even though you were off on your vacations.
*Edit*
My note also had a small grease stain on it. That coupled with the crayon means... The notes could have been written at some place like Denny's, IHOP or McD's where they have those activity place mats and crayons that they give kids to keep them busy. If the (purple) crayon was the only writing instrument available, he could have gotten a couple of sheets of paper from a waitress (me thinking, the manager would have a computer & printer, with paper). I've not certain, but I'd think that crayon would not leave the same impression on the pages underneath it that a pen or pencil would.

In Person (sort of) Contact: Thanks For Lunch, Caretaker! This happened at ARGFest as well, but did not include puzzles, items or conversations.
Monday Nov. 10, a few of us got together for lunch at TGIFridays, and a few more stopped by for tea, soda and appetizers. When we went to have the waitress bring the check so we could split it up, she said that the Caretker had paid for lunch!
Much kewlness! Thank you Caretaker.
Thanks for all the fish...
uh... sorry, just contacting my inner dolphin.

The waitress was very cool about it, too.
"Hey, just wanted to let y'all know that your lunch is taken care of, so you don't owe anything."
"What? Who paid for lunch?"
"All I know is a name: Caretaker." (eyebrow waggle)
She needs to be recruited!
Thanks, Caretaker! And if I knew he was gonna foot the bill, I would have ordered that banana banshee after all.

I think because I screwed up the FOIA clue at the first ARGFest, I have been denied further clue-ing. No badges for me, and I had to leave before lunch on Monday. Sigh. Maybe next time.

FWIW - Hard Rock Cafe has boxes of crayons. I accidentally grabbed a small box on our way in there for lunch on Saturday (thinking it was a cool box of matches). Realizing it was just a box of crayons, I turned around and handed them off to the youngest member of the party, ZMaiden. Not sure where they ended up after that.

jealous I'm so jealous I wasn't there to take part - I'll never turn down a free lunch (or clue).

All well and good, kona, but it's Space that we really need to keep away from any sharp objects.

First, Steven Lake buys us all beers at ARGfest Las Vegas. Then, Caretaker buys us lunch at ARGfest Orlando. Acheron is pushing the envelope once again, being the first Arg to require a food budget (other than late night pizza for the PM's).

Well, I certainly remembered that Space (and Scrappy) were also spotted at the Hard Rock Cafe at lunch that same day......but I wasn't trying to rat out anyone in particular.

I've started some social engineering attacks on NRU. Currently I've only tryed which contacts can I reach in e-mail, possibly requesting informations which might result in new, better contacts.
All I got was:
We're sorry. Email has been disabled due to the enormous amount of
traffic caused by the sobig.f virus. Until new mime sweeping software can
be installed all outside email has been disabled.
So this is a new message...
And I can't social engineer the place when I can not contact them at all.
