A modern mystery

[originally posted at Immersive Lounge on Collective Detective, reposted in full here]

While I realize this is off the beaten path, I have a mystery to relate.

There is a column in the Washington Post that I find most intriguing and read every
day I remember to grab the paper from the front porch on my way to the office. Written
by a local insider, Bob Levey's Washington has been a wonderful read for those people
that pick the paper up each morning, as its not reprinted online. What follows is
part of his column today, reprinted here ONLY for its mystery value.

This is written by Bob Levey for the Washington Post, Monday 25 November, 2002

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A34754-2002Nov24.html

What's the unseen piece of this story?
Does the man have a tapeworm?
Is he trying to win a bet?
Is he just lonely and trying to find solace or meaning in barbecue?
Pretend you're a detective or a novelist. How do you explain this man and regularly
enormous appetite?

There's your mystery folks. What the story on this diner? If you post an answer
to Bob Levey, you may end up in the Washington Post, which would be pretty darn cool.
