Does this Warrant a Look?
Another spinoff?

I was tired last night, but considering ARGing, when I went to check on the infamous Cassie account (I don't think I need to say more).

Anywho, there appears to be another spinoff (gamejack...maybe not?) done by a totally different group (who actually doesn't seem to be doing all that badly...little amaturish, but not that bad really), except...they are getting absolutely no attention. Which is a little sad, because the video series actually gets interesting, there's an LJ account...and they already have a drop point...but nobody has gone for it!

Additionally, nothing has been posted here about it (when I did a forum search I didn't find anything, so do correct me mods if I'm wrong). I don't live near the drop point, or I would be interested in going for the drop. Anyone else think we should give this one a little look? For that matter, anyone in southern cali where the drop is?

Watch the vids in order:

Actually looks kinda intresting....I don't think they are trying to connect to cassieiswatching at all....It just seems like they chose it as an intresting way to launch, perhaps. Who knows.

You know what the spookiest thing about those videos is? that woman is the same age as me. SCARY!

Anyway, i left a reply in the blog, all in binary. And, i can't watch the last video, is there anything relevant there besides dead drop info?

It shows pictures of "bay area park" as it is listed, a place in Cali (probably close to the place of the original LG15 park scene, I'm guessing) for instance, a sideways shot of a flag over a fountain, shots of the missing guy hanging around the park, and then the camera slowly focuses in toward a gazebo-like structure some where in the park, pans slightly toward a fence to the left (as if in reference) and then the individual shooting walks toward the gazebo and points the camera toward a bush off to the side. It ends in the words "find it" There is really no audio.

Thanks RTP, can i call you that? so...the drop area is basically on the other side of the planet from me. Is anyone who's following this actually in the Cali area?

I'm in the Bay Area of California, the South Bay, but I have not looked at any of this LG15 stuff. If you want me to identify the location, could you point me to the specific video or web page where the clues are? I don't want to watch every unrelated link posted above. There are a number of gazebos around here, so that in itself doesn't narrow it down yet.

Sure Hye(may I call you that?) you can basically do whatever you want with my name, just don't anagram it...you get some weird stuff.
Hmmm...well somebody in the lonelygirl forum beat us to the drop point, their results are here:
http://redheaddiva.livejournal.com/

So either someone beat her (turns out she recognized it as being Bay Area, TX)(thank you catherwood!), or this was just a crank...oh well. Thanks for playing guys.
Although...it seems odd that one would spend so much time on so many videos....unless, this person saw the individual that was placing Cassie clues (but why in TX?), and would like someone to stake it out for the next clue to...something?...who knows. Could we have a game brute force attempt on our hands? Any suggestions?

RTP, sure, you can call me that!

ok, forgive the noob type question, since I have actually been doing this for a little while, but i have never known what the term brute force meant in connection with args. can you explain?

EDIT: tho, can we be sure how hard redheaddiva looked?

So, of course the first thing I do is anagram it. I particularly liked "YA CORN DRIPT MONK", but I'll save that in case ya get me steamed. Wink

i know the place

I'm so glad I found this thread... I'd been looking for where this etchings thing was being discussed!

Also, I'm redheaddiva--or rather, my dog is. Long story. Basically, that's my youtube account, and I was originally thinking I could post a video reply, until I remembered that my videocamera won't talk to my computer for some reason (and I am somewhat technologically retarded). So I just took my digicam to the park when I went with my dog this morning, and then I thought about the term "fetch" in the tags and how it would be funny if it was my dog playing/posting rather than me...

With a video/suppossed drop at a park that's near my home, I kind of freaked out and decided it would be better to just go with the dog thing. Then I felt like I needed make that consistent with the other forums (haven't changed it over here yet) and so there you go.

So this is probably proof that I'm a paranoid weirdo. I'm not trying to jack anything. Sorry to be confusing.

ETA: As well as looking for the paper clue that was pictured wedged between the posts in the gazebo in the video, the dog and I poked through those bushes pretty thoroughly, let me tell you! We gave it a good go.

ETA: TMI... probably the next video will show me poking around the gazebo with my dog.

Thank you for that...it's one of the more clean ones I've heard Laughing

Oh and thank you Diva! (If you don't mind me calling you that here^^) I am very glad you looked into that. And no, you don't sound paranoid in the least...that's why a lot of people go to drops together (remember the first Cassie drop? Nilla went with three friends, it's perfectly a good thing to either take your dog or go with a couple friends. I wouldn't go by myself either!) I didn't think you were jacking things either...the reason I said that was because I was worried, not about you, but about someone having ruined the game before you even got there! Well, all I can say is that if they did, and the PM is good....they'll give us another clue.

And hye, brute force is one of those loaded terms that few will discuss, I think, because everyone has their own code of honor. (I believe there's a post about it here on the board, but it's long...so I'll just sum up stuff quick!) It means either the finding of the PM before the game is over (effectively jacking it) to find the answer, using some method of encryption cracker (in a game in which it is specifically stated that none such is allowed...there are some), or doing anything that effectively ruins the game fun (according to your morals). It's difficult to call one a brute forcer, because opinion really varies, though you can pretty much make a brute force call if the PM shorts the group and dissapears...that's what myc was talking about in the AV post when he referenced finding the doctor (at least I think it was him). At least, that's how I see it, but then, I'm still a n00b here.

Sweet!

I posted a comment in Ihaveseenhim's blog, all in binary, asking how i could help, etc etc....

Just got a response! In binary! my evil little plan worked!

Translated from binary you get:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
re: may i help?

more letters. he must confess. i'll follow him until he does.

EDIT: the first letter in the videos was T...so...does this mean we're going to get mondo videos now, each with a new letter until we've got the full message??

Good, and thanks. I'm new at this, and finding that it gets into your head in some weird ways. It's a really nice, safe park, really, with regular patrol cars/bikes, so I wasn't too afraid to be there. I was just afraid of being tracked or followed once I'd been there, especially given the theme of the videos. Probably needless fear, but still...

Whew! I didn't think you were accusing me, but realized that the whole ID switch thing could be confusing--like, "who is this new person and why did she just now get involved?" And it was implied on another board that I was a shill for the game, stuff like that. I'm sure I was being oversensitive, sorry. Embarassed

Turns out someone did get there before me. They posted over on the CiW forum, though I haven't had time to mess with it yet: http://cassieiswatching.myfreeforum.org/ftopic76-10.php

I wish they'd left a "replacement" note like Nilla got, so that I'd have known that they'd been there... Mad but what are you gonna do?

So has it been established that this is definitely a LG15 spin-off of some sort?

I don't know that it's a spin-off so much as them sort of "using" a video response to CiW as a way to start their own storyline.
