http://bettylovesbarney.blogspot.com/ seems to be back the way it was before, with the posts on "where am i?" and "who, where why?"

EDIT: 'where am i?' was posted at 5:55pm on October 05, 2006 (i.e., the future..da dum!) and 'who, where, why?' was posted at 10:10am on October 05, 2006.

It's back to nothing again now. No posts, no source changes.

Notice those dates are in the future.. its not yet the 5th.

Could be important if the site keeps changing like that.

Gave me a chuckle. Good to see there's a sense of humor about all this.

Perhaps an email was sent to SirQuady to get him to post that... being he is a member of unfiction he would know that we would get to that image and work on it...

then again - why remain quiet about it? I dunno... strange

The flickr tags for that image are
clue
kloo
Alternate Reality Gaming

so it seems pretty clear (to me, at least) that SirQuady himself is a player of ARGs. We'll just have to wait to hear from him where he got this image, though.

I just received a call from Wendy Way. She said Betty had been staying at her house while she was out of town for a couple of months. She doesn't know where she went, but if we find out anything, we need to contact her. I'll transcribe the call later. I'm up to my ears with students at the moment.

SirQuady

He is an UF member and played Benjamin Stove.

I think if I was sent something ARGish (and not spam) I would also post it in here (and probably use my flickr account to host it).

Why he hasn't come in here yet? I cannot say.

Early this morning I received a response to my message. Someone called me on my cell (I left the number in the message) explaining that she wasn't Betty, and that Betty couldn't receive the message because she's gone MIA. It started out sensible enough, but as the conversation progressed, the woman seemed to get a bit more worried. It turns out that Betty had been staying at this woman's apartment, so the number is for her answering machine. Betty has apparently pulled a Houdini, and this woman asked me that if I hear anything about Betty, to leave a message on her machine because she's worried about Betty's sudden disappearance.

Hooray for my first IG phone call! *Cheers*

AJ's email replies have indicated that there is a specific task or challenge for us to meet.

Anyone have an idea exactly what the task is?

Certainly K,

You did a marvelous job at finding me. So I must assume that you did discover my "Bravo, Sammeeeees" page. This page presents you with a simple task. It isn't a test. It is just a way for me to be sure that you have your wits about you. Return to me with the correct translation of my "Bravo" page and we shall move forward.

Thank you, K. I look forward to moving forward.

Warm Regards,

Mr. Alan Johnson

We know his blogspot can be translated to:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
October 5, at sunrise (or sunset?)

So the first part would be done, but the last 5 images and the link got me lost. Could it be a place? Betty asked where am I? on her blog.

The title of the images gives an idea. The symbol literally means "Not Safe for Strangers" It's a Hobo sign as a location to avoid.

http://www.symbols.com/encyclopedia/45/458.html

Now what that means in combination with the others, I'll leave for further speculation.

Hmmmm...Not sure why the 5th. Definitely October. The "Flag" represents the day, I could see 10th as in Roman numeral "X".
Time is associated with the "Glass House pic". not sure what to make of that though, hazard a guess, 8:20 for number of glass panes? The grids, not safe for strangers. hmmm what isn't safe for strangers. the place maybe? Elevators? anyway, getting ahead of myself. any thoughts?

It is a nautical flag which represents the number 5. Look at it here

It was posted a few posts back.

I was literally trying to associate a time with the image. Thinking it might be some EXIF data (there is none), or the date it was originally created or modified.

I did find some additional text in the image, that looks like a regular keyboard sequence, but some letters are missing. The second instance is almost exactly the same, but missing the number 4:
%&'()*456789:CDEFGHIJSTUVWXYZcdefghijstuvwxyz and
&'()*56789:CDEFGHIJSTUVWXYZcdefghijstuvwxyz

both are missing a-b. and k-r

Now, I can't be sure that that is the beginning and ending part of the text, but it's strange text to be included in the image.

You'll find that common in many (but not quite all) jpegs. Try looking for the similar sequences of characters in known-out-of-game images that are sitting on your computer. In just a small sampling on my machine, I found that 26 out of 106 jpegs have strings of characters like that ("grep '56890:' | wc -l" versus "ls *.jpg | wc-l"). Much like some Adobe plugins putting "Ducky" in jpeg headers, those sequences of letters are pretty common and easy to mistake as a coded message.

Gotcha. I actually loaded up 5 other images and didn't have it any of them... but since your 26/100 percentage is similar, it's easy to see how it was missed.

Thanks for the update.
