[360] Gears of war promotions, cool stuff, etc. Main site: http://www.gearsofwar.com/
some great links to cool interviews there. Story creation, etc.
Exclusive story tidbits: http://www.gearsofwar.com/48hrsexclusiveaccess/
Multiplayer vids from the "Match Made In Hell" promotion: [EDIT: BAD LINKS], here try this one: http://www.siliconera.com/2006/10/05/fans-react-to-gears-of-war-at-the-match-made-in-hell/
Can't wait for everybody to get their hands on this beauty!

Hey weephun, how much of the official trailer is live gameplay as opposed to cutscene?
Also, that "Match Made in Hell" link is now turfed - all of the vids are a snarky "Thanks for leeching!" message, instead of, I assume, actual in-game matches.
It all looks scary and gorgeous.

Some of both. Looks like even some older stuff. But the nice thing for the game is that the cutscenes are real-time rendered in the engine. So what you see in the cutscenes is no different from what the gameplay looks and feels like.
Make sure to hit all 4 preview videos on the 48 hrs site.
And yes, scary and gorgeous is a very apt description.
Xboxyde got all 4 videos if you want to watch them directly: http://www.xboxyde.com/news_3680_en.html

Weephun, do you know if it is possible in GoW to have some/all people from your friends list on your own team in a ranked team game?

I'm just looking for a clarified response, because a lot of the posters on the GoW forums didn't word their questions too clearly and I think that caused most of this confusion, heh.
Thanks though.

I've seen those quotes, but they were responses to poorly-worded questions, and the "cert requirement" thing made it seem that they may have misinterpreted those questions.

Ebgames Gears Of War Late Night Event. http://www.xboxic.com/news/1804
On the 21st of October, those of you lucky enough to live next to a participating EB Games (gamestop) store can see some exclusive Gears of War footage for a whole hour after the store has closed. Along with that, you also get to take home some nice goodies.
From the email sent to subscribers:
After participating stores close, customers 17 years of age or older will be readmitted for a sneak peek at exclusive video content for Gears of War. Anyone caught with a fake moustache will be sent home immediately, without a glass of milk or cookies. While supplies last, FREE lanyards, pins and gamer id tags will be given to those who attend.
In addition you can purchase either a 3-month or 12-month Xbox Live Kit at $5 OFF the regular price. Stores will only be open one hour for this event. Contact your local EB Games/GameStop to confirm participation and event details.
I'm actually going to be headed to my local gamestop (Fuquay Varina NC) this Sat evening to show off some stuff, sign some crap, etc. Call up your local ebgames/gamestop (I think even software etc. is the same chain) and see if they are participating.

Well Weephun, I hope you're happy. I was in my local EB yesterday on other business and allowed myself to be talked into pre-ordering Gears.

likewise, a few days ago, just plopped down a preorder for the limited ed.
Hey Weeph, care to autograph it? hehe
actually I've been meaning to ask, what role did you actually have in the development of the game, coming in so late in its development cycle? Or were you just pretty there (in this case) to test and report and such? ie, will we see your name in the credits?

I'd love to if you really want to send me your copy.
I'm the QA manager for the Engine/Editor. I was here for the last 5 months of the 2 year development cycle (just in time for crunch ... yay) so while I definitely didn't put as much into this game as some, I did help a lot with getting all of the last engine bugs taken care of and all of the features implemented that were necessary to get the game out. And yes, I'm in the credits

I'd send it if it wasn't in its permanent home in my 360 for the next month.
Great game all around from what I've played (which unfortunately isn't too much so far). Now I just have to get a Live subscription up, because imagining this co-op in full screen makes me drool profusely.
Kudos on a fantastic title.
