I'm sitting here trying to abosrb everything and I don't understand why the disks where created. Completely thinking "in-game" as opposed to trying and figure out if something is being done for the sake of the game.
According to the note it's for safekeeping. As in a need was sensed that R (Ethan?) was not safe and he needed to ensure certain things were made safe.
I can understand why the pictures of the encounter were scanned and saved. If I witnessed an unexplained event and then felt as if my witnessing said event threatened me in any way I would want to save proof as either insuruance or clues if I were to end up missing.
As far as the legal docs, I sorta understand why you would want certain legal docs saved. But what I don't understand is why did he determine to save these certain documents? Id's, marriage cert and a picture of a house? Why would those things need to be scanned and saved? Why not a will? or life insurance? or stocks portfolios? Things that hold true value if taken and/or if you need proof of their existence?
And the personal photo's? I can understand wanting to keep memory's around to remind me of the ones I love, but in a case like this?
I guess I'm trying to figure out the frame of mind R (Ethan?) was in to do this. Why save identity information and not legal and/or financial if he felt he was not safe? Or is the information that was saved clues to where the rest of the information is? Does the sum of all the data we found on the CD add up to another location or website with more data?
Am I overthinking this or is anyone else starting to wonder if the CD was not the intended result of clues but a very clever clue by itself?

I think some of it might be sentimental value - the picture of the house, for instance.
Scanned photos of legal documents are another thing. Where I work, we often ask for verification from students, and proof of legal name change is one - for when people get married. Most students just fax in a copy of their marriage license. Same for the social security card, though the driver's license is obscured. You can use documents like that to regenerate identification even if it's been destroyed...you can 'rebuild' your life even if your documents are gone.
Not everybody has a will and life insurance, and I know I sure don't have stocks and bonds.
It seems more like the cd is something like a visual record of a life. Like when you photograph things for insurance purposes...if anything's lost, you have a photo to prove that you once had it.
The rest...I'm not sure!

Ahh, that picture brings back memories... Sort of...
I visit Seattle often, because my cousins live there, and when I was younger, we used to go to Gasworks Park and hang out all day.
Good times.

This is exactly what I'm leading up to. Why would R (Ethan?) feel he needed a record of his life? What was threatening him and how? I think that it is important to figure that out.
I don't have all the information coherently in my head. Can someone that has a good knowledge that feels comfortable with what they have in their head start a [plot] or [fact]thread somewhere? A thread that only contains facts that we all hold to be true?
Have we even clearly identified a good guy / bad guy scenerio yet? Damn this is confusing...

What I found very odd was that the picture of the house was under the legal folder. I still don't get that.

Why would anybody? If this is anything like the whomps discussed in another thread, where a character possibly saw changes being made to the matrix, maybe Ethan wants to keep a record of the way things were...anticipating the possibility of changes.
Like a time capsule?

Probably nothing, but you never know!
Its about the large file of the house - lk wa ...
I know people have said its either Kanes house, or on lake washington, but on browsing the cascade vortex links, theres one to lake wales, FL.
I only raise it as cascadevortex.com has been of little use so far (that I have seen!)
As I said, probably nothing, but....

I'm thinking maybe the house is a vacation home? I mean, if I have a picture of my house, I will name the file "house.jpg" or something. I won't name it "chicago_house.jpg." Since I have no other homes, I don't need to differentiate one from the other.
Just a thought.
