Internet Tubes are sadly very susceptible to nuclear bomb radiation. If you attempt to use the Internet Tubes after they have been nuked, you will unleash mutant viruses that will roam the Tubes and start to infect anything or anyone that comes into contact with them. So instead of just your regular nuclear mutants running around, you'll have super smart nuclear mutants around that need to eat your brains to survive and that would be just awful.
Or, less likely, they didn't really think they story through completely and/or didn't completely missed the chance to talk to someone who could come up with ideas what were grounded in reality (which is why there are no mutant nuclear internet zmobies running around )

Afterall, mysterious "St Louis Cop" guy is using the wireless internet. So we know something is still working.
/me just has to suspend her knowledge and just think "it's in the script" even if it isn't all scientifically plausible.

Location of Jericho If you look at the map of Jericho you will find I-70, US 40 and US 83 highways. Oakley Kansas is the town that has these three roads.

If you look at the county tags on the license plate on their cars it's for a fictional county too... I believe it's SN - but that's working off of memory, don't quote me there

I had a glimmer of hope based on the first episode, but if the second episode is any indication of what is to come, this show isn't going to see November.
Well, CBS seems to disagree. Not only is it giving Jericho credit for for the network's huge Wednesday night ratings jump (up 48% from last year), but they've ordered a full season of the series. The futon critic has the press release .

I caught up with this show via cbs.com. All the episodes so far are up to watch. To me, it is ripping a little too much off Lost (I would state all the examples, but, let's just leave it at the title sequence and move on) It has promise though. I am not going to discount it just yet. Besides, nothing else to watch on basic cable at 8pm Wednesday.
(OK, one more Lost rip-off example. How alike do Ashley Scott and Kiele Sanchez look? http://www.netglimse.com/images/celebs/bio/sn_ashleyscott.jpg

Also note that when Mr. Hawkins is using the internet, his laptop screen shows a legal agreement for something called Mackay. That could refer to the Mackay Satellite communations company that provides satellite internet access for the government.

Credit Card Info....? Just a few observations...
Anyone notice the credit card numbers in last nights episode? They really seemed to show them....then they showed St Louis guy typing in his password with the characters being visible for a moment or two? Anyone catch those?
Maybe nothing, but a possible way to pass on some info for an online componant...

I dunno if there's anything for 'us' in the episode, but it definitely made me grin seeing all the 'secret' hacks to get through multiple layers of obscure security... like the enormous key sequence to get to the login from the simple 'please stand by' banner...
the password I just assumed was a special way of entering the code, rather than a simple x-character password. Another layer...
IF they do any kind of extended reality, keep in mind that kind of security method, it could be beneficial.
But at this point AFAIK, if there's anything 'extended' about this show, it's just the existence of myspace profile(s).

Each eppy morse code changes. First three it just spelled out the epp title. Then on epp 4, it spelled out "he knows rob", in reference to the injured man and Mr. Hawkins.

I'm not too displeased with where Jericho's going... although a few times my suspension of disbelief bordering on non-existent in last night's episode... (most notably, that Rob left his 'top secret' room fully unlocked, leading to his unlocked gun case, his unlocked government laptop in un-password-protected sleep mode, with his last task still conveniently as the main window - and still there's so much more...)
but from a plot standpoint, I still find it intriguing. We have no idea what's happening with the government, the state of the country, let alone the world... I liked how they included an (enemy?) EMP bomb...
so, *shrug* I'm still interested in it.. not hugely excited, but interested.

Jericho:post-apocalyptic drama::Prison Break:crime action-dramas. That is to say, a fun ride with very little purpose or substance. IMO.
