[OFFTOPIC] The T-Shirt thread

OK, there has been some discussion about creating t-shirts based on various elements in the game. I have a good source for low-volume silkscreen shirts (min. 24), or I can set up a CafePress account, which is worse quality but allows for individuals to order shirts.

Here are some of the ideas for shirts presented, or that I thought of offhand:

1. A shirt with the MLO Tapestry file on the front

2. A shirt with one of the MLO James Avery pictures on the front

3. [Your idea here]

Prices would probably be $10 for a silkscreened shirt, or $17 for a CafePress "one-off" shirt. I would think PayPal would be the easiest form of payment for the silkscreened shirts, but that'll be figured out later.

If anyone is interested in a Tapestry shirt, Private Message me, and once I have roughly 23 people, I'll go ahead and get the logistics together.

So, any other t-shirt ideas that people can think of? If interest in a single design is lacking, then maybe it'd be better for me to just set up a bunch of patterns on the CafePress site, and let people order as needed...

Hmm. "Always to have lessons to learn" in base 64 encryption, printed on the front (vertically?) in black and white?

Because "QWx3YXlzIHRvIGhhdmUgbGVzc29ucyB0byBsZWFybg==" is so catchy.

Just a quick note that we may want to be careful of copyright issues here... Even though we're not dealing with a "company" here as far we know, the PMs might not be too jazzed about us using "in-game" stuff, and we don't know exactly where the whole game is headed in terms of possible marketing, etc. (For example, they may be planning on selling t-shrits designed on the game, but they may want to wait until it's over).

It's probably not an issue, but it's just something I wanted to point out.

What about quotes from the game? They probably wouldn't have issues with that...I think.

Yeah, like I said, I'm really not sure. I think it was just something worth pointing out...

(It's too bad we don't have some sort of "liason" to be able to ask their permisson).

Just an idea to throw out there: Maybe it would be a good idea at this point to just make some potential designs, share them as jpgs or whatever, and then people can make their own using inkjet transfers if they want to.

Or just share the designs now and wait until the game is over, giving the PM's the choice of selling their own T-shirts when the curtain is raised to make some money back..

Yeah... I agree with you there Eshan. I think we'll be fine as long as we don't just go get the Metacortex logo embroidered on golf shirts or something... thats probably a breach of copyright. Smile

I'd be happy to wear an "I survived the Metacortex Conspiracy" t-shirt...

Just a thought though: golf shirts/ polo shirts might be a good idea for those of us who can't wear raglan tees to work, but still want to advertise our obsession.

Who is doing fashion design here? We're bound to have one or two people... god knows we've got everyone else here... Very Happy

No Metacortex ARG T-shirt collection would be complete without a "Release your Inner Dolphin" t-shirt.

I heart Wongmo.

Huh?

Huh? Catchy aint it?

Laughing

Yeah, I was thinking about this as well. In my mind, I would hesitate to do a Wongmo shirt, considering that Wongmo has already sent a few to the Student Showcase winners.

I would love to get "in game" permission by characters, but unfortunately the Tapestry file was gotten by hacking into MLO's MetaDex account. It wouldn't look too good asking Ormond permission to reproduce a t-shirt containing an obviously very personal and confidental message!

I would personally think that a t-shirt w/ such a limited run wouldn't be a problem. But maybe it'd be best to host images for heat transfers, and have a CafePress site set up rather than doing a full silkscreen run...

Hmm...

How about if all proceeds were donated to charity?

I can almost guarantee that none of the PMs would have a problem with that (surely not...) if no-one was actually turning a profit from their hard efforts.

My vote would be for Amnesty, personally.

That way all we'd have to dance around is commercial-strength copyright, like the Metacortex logo, or Matrix references.

Hey

I have a cafeExpress account already. Just not done anything with it. I'll make up some tshirts tonight. I've got a good eye for stuff liek that. Used to design websites. now I process Mortgage. Wonderful Market.

I'll come up with a Metacortechs/Matrix Arg Logo that I can put on the front left breast. ( he said breast). Or big in the center. I could do both.

Here is my idea for one shirt.

Oct 1st Pic. back Middle. "eye see" above it. Then the translation of the symbols along side.

Then below it. "SOLVE ME!!!"

Charity would be good too. I don;t think anything is copyrighted. Maybe some of the pics were purchased. but we'll see.

I'd have to go with that one Smile

I'd love a tapestry.jpg shirt as well, but I don't think shipping it to Europe would be very favorable, so maybe I'll just try and get one here... Sad

Black T-shirt with plain white lettering (think "got milk")

On the front: "FIND THEM"
On the back: "heismissing.info
sheismissing.info"

OR

Front: "Who is James Avery?" (or Ethan/Ryan, whatever)
Back: "heismissing.info"
And possibly the pic on the page
