[BOOK] Secrets of the Alchemist Dar

Wasn't sure if this should be in News or Timewasters, but the book mentioned here by Catherwood, was released for sale yesterday.

ignoring the fact that I'm going to buy the book anyways.. does one need to read the first to understand the storyline of the second? are they intertwined in any way?

The second book is basically a different story, but with all the same characters from the first book. I don't think you need the first book, except maybe to understand how the author hid the puzzles. There is a solutions book you can buy that explains all that though.
