Interesting historical trivia RE: Sir Henry Morgan

An illustrious career as a Privateer (a legalized pirate) involving some incredible battles against huge ods. While very clever, some of his attacks against Spanish settlements were very cruel and involved mass rapes, torture and murder. He was eventually made Lieutenant Governor of Jamaica and was notorious for hanging huge numbers of pirates from the gallows. He died childless of tuberculosis at age 40, and four years later in 1692 an earthquake took out the cemetery that Morgan's grave was in.

His tombstone read: "The Soule and Life of all Jamaica who first made it what it now is."

Apparently his will is in the National Archives... anyone?

Man... I really should get an account here...

Ok, just a shoot in the dark.

All this, lost language, sea locations and ancient civilizations got me thinking. What if this is about Atlantis? Plato wrote the dialogue where Socrates mentions atlantis.

Does anyone has the Plato's book edition where the paragraphs are numbered?

OK... Dont know if this is relivent or not...

If you look at http://www.wash-away.net/waterbaby/ (mentioned above) from there you can link to http://www.wash-away.net/. From there, you can go to a page http://www.kendurah.net/?page_id=5... she definitely looks goth, and she reads SOUE, but I dont think she is in game. I say that because her birthday is 1/4/86, which does not match Hank's post about seeing her on her birthday.

There are definitely so similarities, but IMHO I dont think she is related to the game.

Hope this is of some value.

Plato'sCriteas is all about Atlantis, you might check there first.

To entertain this theory for the time, we'll approach this in accordance with the Law of Fives and make it work.

http://www.tgidiving.com/english/henrymorgan_about.php

Code:

British and Spanish settlers invaded the Paya as their respective countries fought over possession of Roatan in the 16th century. Soon after, pirates numbering nearly 5,000, including Henry Morgan and associates, claimed Roatan as their stronghold. During the height of the slave trade, Roatan became a dumping ground for rebellious slaves that the British could no longer control. These marooned slaves, now called Maroons or Garifuna, form a present day ethnic group near the town of Punta Gorda.

Now, that's all fine and dandy, but here's the connection:
http://www.roatanonline.com/moreroatan/roatan_treasure.htm
Code:

The limestone cliffs of Helena are honeycombed with caves and its inside these caves where Mitchell Hedges believed he made one of his most important discoveries. He explored the caves off Helena with his daughter Sammy and some of the locals from Roatan. As they excavated the floors of the caves they started discovering all kinds of strange artifacts. Mitchell Hedges had never seen anything like them in all his days of archaeology. The artifacts were not Maya or Toltec, which were the only two known cultures that had been found in the area. So what culture were they from? Mitchell Hedges believed the relics he had found were from a culture which was much more ancient then the Mayas or the Toltecs. He believed they were from a culture which existed before what he calls the great earth quake. This had changed the face of the earth causing mass flooding and sinking one of the greatest civilizations known to mankind, the legendary Atlantis.

I think the language itself strengthens this argument. See my post on the language thread for my discussion of this. If so, there are some precedents we can look to where various people have "found" and reconstructed the language of Atlantis.

Something's bugging me about the Google Maps image -- the link text says "Make this Hank's Default Location", but when you search for an address in Google Maps, what you actually see is "Make this my Default Location." How would Hank get Google to refer to him in 3rd Person? Is this a clue of some sort?

Just to follow up on this, analysis of the image strongly suggests that "Hank's" was photoshopped in. If you zoom in to 800% or so (see attached), you can see that the antialiasing on Hank's looks quite different from its neighbors.

Great observation molecularr!

Also, did anyon notice in his profile (http://www.blogger.com/profile/31644240)

He spelled Merrit -one t. It is actually Merritt...

Also, Merritt is in Titusville, FL near Daytona Beach, it's a wildlife preserve.

Don't know if that info is of any value.

random research here...

Time to get derivative! Yaaay!

"banner of King Death" refers to the pirate flag, or the "Jolly Roger". The possible origins of that name (as per http://www.elizabethan-era.org.uk/pirate-flags.htm) are:

The Jolly Roger was derived from the English pronunciation of the 'Jolie Rouge'

The Jolly Roger was a derivation of word rogue describing a vagabond, beggar or thief

The Jolly Roger was a derivation of the English colloquialism 'Old Roger' which was an English slang term for the Devil

My theory- the Devil reference is probably going to come into play here to bring an old pirate to justice, or to make him attone for his sins...

On a side note, looking at the source in the blog, for some reason the first two paragraphs of the latest entry are wrapped in <rmorrow> tags. Think it's a typo? I can't find anything about it... I made a wild guess and googled "Roger Morrow" but so far nothing...

I am in NO WAY suggesting that we stop digging into the current clues.

BUT, I would not be suprised if our next big breaks dont come until we hear some/one of Frank's recording and get a response from him in email.

I am assuming that everybody responded to his "Cry For Help" and emailed him their contact info?

Please discuss new information pertaining to Hank's Blog here:

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17109

This thread is getting mighty convoluted with 3 pages of comments already dedicated to his blog. Let's leave this thread for discussing changes to the initial Ny Takma site. We've got a language discussion thread, and an interaction thread as well. So spread the love. Wink
