Hank's blog has updated with a recording. He emailed me to tell me; alas, I'm at work right now and can't even start transcribing for several hours yet.

Audio Recording Announcement Observation: This could be a case of typing with flippers or we might need to look over the announcement emails for more missing letters ('m' is missing in the blog in the word 'ambigious').
The letter 'n' is missing in 'linked' in this email.

JW,
John's got the file uploaded. I liked to it in my blog if you still want to help.

Hmm, I just noticed the same typo in the email I got.

When I went to leave a comment in hank's blog, a second comment showed up, other than the first one (which is the only thing you see otherwise). This might just be a glitch on my computer? But in case it isn't, it says:

[Ny Takma] New post in hank's blog
Anyone figure out the clip?

Can anyone figure out what's being said in the audio clip?

ancalime's reply (This post was actually made by ancalime in a duplicate thread, so I am copying it here for continuity -- catherwood)
Wooow, that's kind of evil of the PM(s). I foresee getting a major headache from trying to listen to the voice through all that noise.
I went through part of it, about the first third, during a break at work (I work at a call center so I can't just be listening to random internet files all the time ), here's what I got:
Quote:
spila vtanzun en isa tula ra atinosuren laktu tinan alla deen eraza _ apka.
lalunta numkalee unta fara guakala...
I'm quite certain a lot of this is wrong, or at least the word breaks are. It doesn't look much like the existing text we have.

Well, in the past, we tried to take the sound files and write them out as they sound. Then, we would email Lanti and see if we wrote it down properly. Of course, that was before everything started ... but it might still work now I think we need to get all of the file written out, and cross check it with words we already have (to get the correct spelling) and take it from there.
Taken from JSquared's posts in the "Trailhead" thread ...
Quote:
(Taken from a sound file from the original site, before Oct 13)
Phoenicly put-together reading:
En nene ne tama, penen hashi keenlin ni mocon.
Tian val eson merlakse de penen de gai.
Tian val lanti,
tian val la.
En masa uhst alen.
(*rearranged some of the words because they belonged to others. Example:
"uh stalen" was the original reading, but it should be "uhst alen" because the offical reading is "ust awlyn" )
Offical reading (from Lanti):
Ra nednai ny takma, peynin hasya keilyn ny moquin.
Teyailn vyl esun mrkzai di peynin di Gai,
teyailn vyl Lanti,
teyailn vyl La,
en masi ust awlyn.
Hopefully this can help with phoenically spelling out the new sound file.

I tried to clean up the audio a bit. I'm not very good at working with audio, but I got a lot of the pops out. It actually now sounds like waves crashing in the background, but I don't know if that's from the original or a consequence of my editing. It's attached.

That does sound loads better, molecularr.
Here's what I've got for the whole message transliterated. I think having studied Japanese is working against me, as I've gotten used to vowels in every syllable.
Quote:
spila vtanzun un isa tula ra atinosuren laktu tinan alla deen eraza v apka.
lalunta numkalee unta fara guakala ni unguala.
ki sun kasu matra. nara aladi mumozr ja.
ungora bin had ja shas guodjinme cha kak.
We'll see how badly it makes yshk Lanti cringe.

I added a comment reporting what we've got so far with the first translation. I figure if Hank knows we're making progress, he might encouraged to post some more recordings. Worth a shot, anyway.
Also, I don't know why, but the mysterious "Ny Takma Koldaaj Mrrat" comment, which wasn't showing up before, reappeared when I posted my comment. That is, I cleared cache and checked the site before commenting: nothing beyond that first comment. I clicked the "add a comment" link : there's the mysterious comment showing up as second in line.
I'm not implying that this is something ingame -- probably just a blogger fluke.
