So as promised, I received a mysterious package from Alan Johnson today. Here are pictures:

So what are the contents of the CD, you ask?

Well, my Mac tells me that the name of the CD is "The Workout and that there is only one file on it -- a single AIFF sound file called "Remember the Deal (Instrumental)." My iTunes instantly recognizes the CD and furthermore tells me that this file is by the artist "Guy Woods" and that the genre is "Hip Hop/Rap."

There was some discussion on IRC about whether this is meaningful information or whether this was left over from whatever the CD was used for before. I honestly can't tell.

I am going to try to figure out how to upload this sound file. Will edit, I promise!

EDIT: The file starts with a voice singing slowy and softly:

After you've gone
And left me crying
After you've gone
There's no denying
You'll feel blue
You'll feel sad
You'll miss the dearest pal
that you've ever had

And then it transitions into a series of slow notes, which maybe we're supposed to identify.

It's attached as a large sound file now:

Opening the sound file in Audacity, I can display the last section containing the 'notes' as a frequency spectrum. I am attaching a screenshot of what this looks like. You can see that the notes should be very clearly identifiable...

Okay so doing a spectrum analysis of these sounds in Audacity, this is the note sequence that I come up with:

DFGAGAGAGACDEDEDEDAAFGGFFCDCFCDCFDF

The two notes that I've highlighted are the only ones that differ from the sequence in the blogspot page found earlier today by DWH:

DFGAAAGAGACDEEEDEDAAFGGFFCDCFCDCFDF

Of course, the sequence that I found doesn't work as an address at blogspot. And the fact that the blogspot page that was found is titled "The Right Notes" has to mean something, right?

Well, both of the notes that are wrong are just one note off both times, so it's probably simple error somewhere along the line.
