Definitely worth a go trip.

Sorry to reiterate myself, but do we know where they got the picture of Jesse from? Dina mentions about the files that Ethan sent her - do we believe/know that Ethan picked up another of the CDs?

Why don't we create an image to post to ceasar on the paintover.net comments? That clues can lead to the directory on BriEnigma's site or we create a new one.

We know the PMs want us to play this game as if it weren't a game. They are obviously trying to get us "into" the game. Let's play along. We may want to divide forces as well. At least in appearance, create a "person" that will interact with Ceasar and his hackers. Trip you obviously got the lead on interacting with Dina, etc etc..

I think it would be an interesting twist to the game and allow us to participate a little more. If they are going to bring us into the game, what's to stop us from diving right in? and turning the game around on the PMs a little. They can still release info and clues to us, and when they want participation, we participate "in-game".

Think about it...you want MMORPG with ultra real 3d and realistic gaming engine? I think this would qualify.

I volunteer my graphics experience and web building knowedge to the efforts, if anyone wants to. Message me if you want to try and take this game to the next level on our terms.

This is what Dina said in regards to the photo of Jesse.

I am looking over the files you sent me, and I wonder if it would've been the same files at Cyberia, or perhaps something different. An explanation for all of this, a justification for the confusion and fear I am feeling in my heart.

So, I don't believe we know where he got the files, though I assume he got one of the CDs that we missed (perhaps Santa Monica, or perhaps a CD we were never meant to get).

Thanks for that - didn't know if I had just missed something!

Code:

Ethan,

Do not let this email come as a shock to you, but there are individuals out there with information on your life. A CD has been recovered with legal documents, surveilance photographs, and personal information pertaining to you and your wife. I believe this information is of importance to you, and we are willing to share this in order to see you kept safe.

Yes, safe.

I am under the assumption that you may be in a modicum of danger. Events across the united states (perhaps globlly, our focus is not that wide as of yet) is leading us to believe you may share some part in an event of tremendous proportions whose effects are far more expansive than one or two individuals. We can help you, but you have to let us.

Contact me, when you are ready.

-Lucent

I sent that email out to Ethan on November 8th before this previous thenekodas post was made. Hopefully between the emails to Beth, and this Email to ethan we'll see some results.[/code]

Omg, I would be so scared if I got that e-mail, Lucent! This "we" sounds so ominous and mysterious, heh. Smile

Heh, yeah, it does sound a bit ominous, and I feel kinda' bad about it after hearing what happened in the Cyberia cafe' ^_~;;

But I had to stick with the overall 'feel' of the ARG, and that just seemed to be mysterious and yet at the same time helpful enough to get these people some info. I feel almost like all of us here at unfiction are like the unplugged ones, trying to get in touch with those still locked in their own minds, to help them before something bad goes down.

I've been talking to my husband a lot about this, and I really wish I'd done a few things differently while getting the CD. This was a unique chance to have one-on-one interaction with someone who could have pertinent game information, but I kind of wasted the chance because I was so nervous and inexperienced.

My husband said that I should have pretended to be Emerson, or someone who knew him, and gotten the CD in that way. In other words, I should have been in character, instead of mentioning the "scavenger hunt" and the "matrix game" crap. That was a big mistake. Perhaps Ceven (the Cyberia employee) had more information, since it is obvious he was coached on at least a few things to say (as evidenced by the January answer).

Secondly, I wish I would have left a note behind, knowing that Ethan or Dina might have come looking for the CD. I could have just left a note with my e-mail address. Then Dina would have had more of an opportunity to interact with me. =)

Well, live and learn...

Also, Dina says in her post:

Quote:
I was madly curious if there were a CD here in the city

Meaning, she knew the SHOULD be a CD, so Ethan has found at least one of them.

That is a very good point for future interactions in the real world.

I have a feeling this "Ceven" person is one of the PMs, or a friend/relative of one of the PMs. (especially considering how the cafe was described as you saw it on that day).

That being said, that's "meta" stuff that we shouldn't worry about.

If we stay "in-game", the guy Ceven, in theory, wouldn't know a whole heck of a lot about what the CD was, or about Ryan Emerson. He probably wouldn't have told you anything anyway, and played "dumb" if you enquired more about the package. Just a guess.

Trip, I don't think you should worry about it too much. I would have done the same thing. I keep leaving messages on Metacortechs voicemail, and I would FREAK if somebody ever answered the phone there.

At this point we still don't know how much interaction we're going to have with in story characters and how much we can effect the story, right? It may not have mattered what you did, trip, as long as someone got the CD out the result probably would have been the same. I doubt Ceven would have said much more than he did, if questioned.

I'm more worried by the communication with characters... a lot of them are communicating in code, yet they seem to be bombarded by e-mails asking questions.

If these were real life people, not only would they be absolutley freaked by all this unsolicitated mail, but the forms of communication would be too plain, too hackable... and may end up getting the chars we are trying to help into trouble.

I say the CDs were meant to be picked up, otherwise they wouldn't be there to pickup.

All IMHO.
