Project Visor report 23 October 2006
Intermittent signal recorded, weak, faint.
Unable to determine location or direction.
Signal lost after 0.278 seconds.
Dispersal pattern suggests target located in arboreal area.
Report ends.
Reminds me very much of the reports that we got in Scarlets "scrambled" puzzle.
So CT was somewhere with trees 3 days ago? Surely that slim clue wasn't the point of the whole thing?

I enjoyed it too - it's the first PXC event I've been able to join in (pity I can't draw ).

I don't think that Project Visor report has anything (directly, at least) to do with CT and their whereabouts - it is dated Oct 23rd, which was Monday. The link was locked down on Friday, the 20th.
It does seem to suggest that Earlywine didn't put an immediate stop to the Project though, but I'm not sure whether that's because he is unwilling or unable to do so.
Also, it shows that some communications are still getting through to us from Perplex City, lockdown or no. I think it must have snuck through, because I can't see the powers-that-be thinking that it's important enough to be let through legitimately.

My understanding was the project visor was being run on Earth by the 3P in order to locate the cube (as the cube can't be located from Perplex City). So rather than pointing to the location of CT, wouldn't the detector point to where the cube is located. The Veindenbourg project is designed to send people to look for the cube, not to locate it directly.
So it's in a wooded area.
Does this reasoning follow through or am I barking up the wrong...sorry, I'm too ashamed to even complete the appalling pun.
As an aside, last night was good fun, well done to everyone in control and the (occasionally extremely useful, occasionally not) hecklers in chat!

So, as I missed the whole thing altogether due to, of all things, work, was anything of use learned from the event? Any communication leaks or some such? Any emails?

Well, I had fun. And I got to shear a tretretretre, bonus!
And this is what I got screwed out of because the game didn't let me input a command during my turn.

Yes, it let me go twice. Why? Well, after I died, I reclicked the queue button, and then the moderators let me go again. If it makes you feel any better, I was only alive for maybe a minute before I was nuked out of existance.
Still, it was fun!

And I think we all learned a valuable lesson:

Like DH I had 2 users running, poozle, and the mighty Connect 4 playing askgar, which I was glad about after poozle got timed out or something and so I lost my place in the queue (AGAIN) I got dropped once just as it started losing my early position in the queue.

So for those of us not fortunate enough to participate in what appears to have been madcap fun - at current face value - there wasn't much to be gained in helping find the cube?

Operation Visor I think MikeyJ is right, the only reference we had before this was the leaked e-mails , which appear to be between 02 one of the 3P Earth Operatives and V.
It seems from the message that they have been constructing a device to enable them to find the cube - they must know of some measurable quality that we don't know about.
The reason that the message was able to get through is that the 3P appear to have their own link which is independant of the Academy.
I think that this message is a kick in the a**, and that we already have all the information that we need to find the cube, we just have to get on with it.

What happened to the queue?
did you get kicked from the room at all? it would've reset your position in the queue (only if you clicked it again.. if not you weren't re-added) my computer froze three times during the event, which caused me from being about eighth (estimated by number of people in room when I joined) to last.
Just for the record Joe, I sympathise with Jetamo, since I too was there from the beginning and did not get kicked out of the game at all, so I was more than a little surprised to see someone getting a second shot.
I'm not bitter, as I had lots of fun in the chat room, and there was always going to be a long list of disappointed people who did not get a go, but it did seem a bit off (not the player's fault of course) for someone to have two bites at the cherry, and made me wonder whether the queue system was really in operation.

I think it does follow in my opinion. Of course, if we're to follow the clues we've been given so far (yellow cabs, ivy leaves), then I think I need to get to Central Park in NYC as quickly as possible, or look through forests outside the city (if any exist). I think it's more likely that the Cube is buried in Central Park, though, since it's an easily accessable area (for those that can get there). Also, I had made this mention on the PXC forums a long time ago. Looks like I might've been right. Well, those are my thoughts.

I don't know - not sure I'd want to go dig up bits of Central Park, I can see NYPD having something to say about that!
Unfortunately even if I would, I'm no where near, though it would make a good christmas shopping trip.
I thought it was pointed out that NYC doesn't have phone booths as described in one of the CT sequences?
I think we have either missed a big clue, or there is more to come. Yellow cabs, cold in January and Trees doesn't really pin it down to precicely!
