Hi,
I haven't any particular ideas as to texts to try, but if the presumtion is that CT put the code on the card, the text will be either a PPC book, or an earth book available in PPC.

Since CT has been on Earth since the Cube disappeared the source text could be from either world. I'd wager it's an Earth text though since the cube is here and we have to solve it.

We got this one, finally.

We'd been on the right lines ages ago, using the titles of the books and their authors to generate a string of letters, then indexing into it using the numbers.

CT was showing us today that we had the right method to solve the puzzle, which meant we were just using the wrong data.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Turns out that Alexandre Dumas is sometimes written as Alexandre Dumas Pere (good ole wikipedia). Using that along with all the rest decodes out to:

five fingers point

half the world
realm
region
feature
last mystery

So, as CT says, this is merely the start...

On a search for related terms, I found:

http://rangi.knowledge-basket.co.nz/regs/regs/text/2005/2005140.txt

Dusky Sound: all those waters of Dusky Sound to the east of a line
drawn from Five Fingers Point on Resolution Island (at 45o44.67'S and
166o26.70'E) to South Point (at 45o48.79'S and 166o27.40'E)

It is about the easternmost point of New Zealand South Island.

I'm a little scared you mentioned New Zealand...The weird marking that NO ONE else seems to notice on card number 220 Precision in the lower left corner looks a LOT like New Zealand...

I saw a repeat of the old BBC film of this story starring Michael Hordern someime last year. It features an old professor who digs up a whistle on a Norfolk beach - bad things happen. Shocked

There is another five finger point in New Hampshire, it is a cove with a lighthouse (isn't this a coincidence. The term feature could mean geographical feature. I actually found a website that describes this five finger point and says "cove" next to feature type.

I was thinking:

Half of world - Northern Hemishpere
Realm - America
Region - New Hampshire
Feature - Cove
Last Mystery - ????

The first letters spell NANC_ . Could this be NANCY.

'Y' is the last letter of the word "Mystery"... last mystery = 'Y'...

Anyone know who Nancy *is*?

Nancy did it.

(If this is another reference to the Beast (the original A.I. ARG...))

At the start of the Beast, Evan Chan was dead and the players decided his wife did it (at least until we started getting clues about what really happened). Her name was Nancy. Her name was taken in vain alot.
