If it's I O U NEO then I think it's a big easter egg. Yay! Easter Eggsess!

If it's I O U ONE, then I think it's just a little "hey thanks in advance" buried in there.

If it's just plain old fashioned co-incidence... hey... stranger things happen at sea, I guess...

The code used for this is called betamaze. I've used it for another application, and even made a truetype font for it, but it doesnt have punctuation.

http://omniglot.com/writing/betamaze.htm

If you want, I can post the font I made.

Great smoking alternative text methods, Batman!

Nice work danman... I think I feel a little better that the PMs weren't sitting there in front of Photoshop for ten hours putting that puzzle together... Wink

So the message is signed "-J."

Can I suggest "-Jesse"?

? = parenthesis
! = comma
. = quote
: = ;

All the letters are right, though. It's really cool that you guys figured it out without knowing about the font...

Geeze Surprised . When I read this, my eyebrows must have almost leapt off my forehead Very Happy . It's nice to be proven right, though. Chancesend and YeahYeah can now take an even deeper bow: Not only did your plaintext solution look right, it has now actually been verified (typos in the ciphertext and all ...). Now that's what I call successful decryption through substitution.

I don't think they're laughing.. they should be worrying about the next puzzle they throw at us because we've chewed and spat the last one.. I think it's great to see that it was solved without resolving to the source.. a very classy solution indeed..

Danman - thanks for posting that.

I guess this solves the riddle of if the symbols are derived from the characters they represent. Or, to be more exact, it makes it unnecessary...

Though now I'm confused by the -J. I don't think it's Jesse, as someone mentioned, and James Avery wouldn't make much sense...

"Jesse" could still make sense (maybe?), if Jesse = Caesar, Avery = Jesse's father, and Dina = Sylvia = Avery's ex-wife (who later divorced him and married Ryan Emerson).

If she remarried, it would explain why she has to communicate with the ex through a cryptic weblog. If I wanted to talk to my ex, I'd have to do that or the current g/f would kill me. or the ex. or both.

Well, no... I guess at the present time (when she blogs, and is Dina) she doesn't really remember her past. She just has vague, flashing memories here and there, but she does not necessarily remember that she was married before Ethan/Ryan, and who she might have been previously married to. I think she wouldn't even know about Avery. But Caesar/Jesse would.
