Maybe I am particualrly obtuse here, but were we not told to answer the most obvious questions first (whatever they are), and to keep things simple? The first thing that pops into my head is what do these books have in common (if anything)... Hamlet has the play within the play, Borges has the infinite number of books using all letters in every possible combination. It also has the red polygon (or was it hexagon??) which is supposed to be the "key " to the Library of Babel, allowing one to "decode" all other books...

Any ideas?

I just thought that answering the most obvious question first meant finding the answer to the actual puzzle on the card and using that.

For the five fingers pointing, I would guess this would mean 5 particular cards or puzzles over a few cards to represent each finger. The thing is, there should be something else that gives us an indication of which puzzles each of these fingers are pointing to, rather than just solving a random meta puzzle and thinking 'Oh, this sounds like it goes with this finger'. It's just a matter of finding these pointers (if they are even there that is).

i just noticed that this is CT's 5th transmission to us. the 4th one gave us what i (still) believe is the 4th finger. Just sayin'.

Is this something new?

While searching some of the books shown on the screen, the following link came up:

Just found it to be interested.

I think we still have several meta puzzles from the wave 4 cards, which we know were tampered with, and almost certainly by CT. The solutions to these will give us the answers to some of these, and the answers themselves will hopefully fit fairly obviously into one of the fingers.

I do think we were given the feature - arboreal, but four of the unsolved puzzles are:

Risk numbers
Mysterious shapes (maybe related to Risk)
Card 223 Hidden Numbers - the numbers in the background that are proposed to be a Beale cypher
Card 156 Going Dotty - Rubies Diamonds etc

There are several other things that have been talked about that are also contenders to be one of the answers, but the only way that we are actually going to know is to work on them, and get them solved.

Actually, the cipher on 223 has been solved, thanks to this very transmission from CT--

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it's the "five fingers point" message!

--check out the first page of the thread. So we're missing a couple of puzzles there...

dark human, i really really really really want it to be in north america, but you have to have id to get on a plane. it'd be just as easy for the cube to make a passport as it would be for it to create some etheral drivers license or birth certificate..

Sad but there are a lot more big forests here right? maybe it'll be in America

Drinkmonsters, i just looked at all the old library pages, and it does not say CT got on a plane, just had "tickets" booked. this could be anything. ball game, opra, plane, bus....
I have gone to the grayhound bus stations, and you don't need any id to get a ticket, or get on a bus. none.(i got a non us citizen very far on that bus with nothing, and they didnt even speak english.) so CT could be anywhere within the country.

also, CT says that he/she recognised where she was just from our pictures and TV. so should we, and if we all think it's NYC, then (again) that's where my money is. (as a starting point)

Not that it matters or can be proven at this point, but if it's not in downtown London (or vicinity - as has been speculated endlessly) then I would say by extension it's probably also not in New York City. or New York state, even. As a generalized approximation, it's either in the heart of england, or else it's somewhere remote to everyone.

But I'm crossing over logic and getting into META/SPEC just now.

I suppose what I'm saying is CT would have wanted to hide the cube either somewhere accessible so she could get it easy enough later, or else somewhere very very inaccessible to anyone at all.

Answer the most obvious question first.

We have lots of questions.

I guess the most obvious question is, which question is the most obvious? Smile

Given that we were given a clue of "arboreal", #186 (Between Two Trees) becomes a lot more significant, huh?

Too bad I can't figure it out to save my life.

To tie together the Borges thoughts and explanations, I've started a page on the wiki about Borges and his stories. I still have sections and details and stuff to add, but thought it might be useful to some anyway. Even if it just gets people to read some Borges stories Wink

Comments welcomed. Enjoy Smile

Card #156 "Going Dotty" from what was posted on the wiki has number strings but no dark shape (except what looks like one of the swirly pxc things on the lower left side). Instead, it has the string of gems printed on the backing (topaz, rubies, amethyst, diamond, etc). It's possible that the "Last Mystery" is some sort of puzzle that has to be solved to get at the Cube once its location has been discovered. Maybe Gyvann gave us the answer in #030 End of the Line, or maybe not.

Whoever finds the Cube, let me know one way or the other, okay? Smile

If the 'five fingers' are supposed to leave us towards five cards (as unlikely as that seems as we aren't supposed to need cards to find the Cube) than arboreal -> Muscae Volitantes?

Here's some speculation for ya.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The hemispheres (Northern and Southern) are not the only way you can halve the globe. There are (of course) almost an infinite number of halves - each great circle is one.

One of the famous ones is the Greenwich Meridian (separates the Eastern and Western Hemisphere). It is named after the Royal Observatory there - interesting link to Realm.

This is in the middle of Greenwich Park.

Very convenient for MC Smile

Just as an aside, I remember reading that the Cube was buried RIGHT AT THE START (i.e. before PXC took off). This fact has always lead me to believe that the most likely location for the Cube is in the UK - as at the time there can have been no certainty whatsoever that the whole cube chase would take off anywhere other than in that locality.

I like this one. I think this my favourite for the most probable location.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Has anyone thought of hiring a metal detector & searching Greenwich Park?... Randomly... but particularly between 2 trees?
