[OFFTOPIC] Other Groups working on this? Name this team! OK... First off I'd like to apologise for starting ANOTHER offtopic thread... they seem to be growing exponentially here since Revolutions opened... Anyway, sorry for drifting from relevance (because you all know by now that I am always 100% relevant...) BUT...
I was having a bit of a read of Semioclast's thread on Literature and Philosophy and couldn't help but wonder... does anyone else know of any other groups out there working on the Metacortex Conspiracy? Obviously there is this team here, my new surrogate family on the Metacortex Unforums, and everyone in #matrix (not quite a separate group, as #matrix is the official channel here), and I know there are a few people who look to be going solely off the paintover forums...
... and chances are there are a few Matrix forums who have latched on to the idea... and I have no doubt that there are some poor half-crazed internet hermits going it alone (good luck with the tapestry guys...) but are there any other large, organised groups out there working on this?
Idle curiousity more than anything else. I'm just interested to see if we have any sort of group dynamic going with anyone else, or if we're a bit like warring tribes, or whatever.

Well, I can't give you a positive answer, but I can say that the three Matrix forum Metacortex threads that I was following originally all died quiet whimpering little deaths a while ago. Well, some died more abruptly than others, one still gets intelligent posts sporadically (as in, a few times a week at most), but none are actively following the game. There was a fourth Matrix forum that had a thread that I'd never read, so I dunno about that one...and wasn't comingsoon following the game too? I'd never read that one either, dunno...
I'd be pretty surprised if there were other substantial groups playing the game...but feel free to go ahead and surprise me, I'm curious now.

Well, someone got to this question before I did. i've been wondering the same thing.
The Coming Soon thread ought to be taken out of your lists of discussions. It was closed due to spamming.
I have a thread here at cinecon: Unlocking Metacortex . I keep it updated. However, as if to prove bWF's theory (aka "Matrix sucks"), when the matrix fans found out this might not be matrix related they've all but stopped replying. I get a few replies every now and then. Recently got a couple intelligent ones. But despite my posts of the agent, er, pics of some guy in a suit wearing sunglasses and an earpiece, I don't get much feekback. Oh, well. I like doing my little updates no matter who reads them.
[EDIT] I believe there was another thread started in the Coming Soon forums, but people don't take it seriously, so... nothing to see there.

The SomethingAwful.com forums have a tiny thread that very loosely follows the ARG. Last I checked (yesterday), they were still hung up on the tapestry puzzle and there was no mention of CDs or physical locations.
Of course, finding the thread [needle] among the pages and pages of threads about childish crap [haystack] took quite a while--but, then, the threads about childish stuff is what SA is all about.

This forum Collective Detective seems to have a lot of recent posts. Beth's files are at the top. But they don't know about all the offline action either except for the phone call.

Oh, heh, I was going to mention Collective Detective, but I forgot. They kind of died away too...the last post that I saw was from Nov. 3. These latest ones were posted yesterday and involve someone trying to translate Beth's AI man files. He was directed to this forum.
It's because we're just so cool.

I really doubt any other forum is quite on top of things as we are. It's not bragging, it's just because if you're like me (and a lot of people are probably worse) you check for updates at the top of the hour and maybe in the middle if you feel like it. However I'm not part of the all nighter crew. I'm not bashing them. They're the ones solving the damn puzzles. Just bitter whenever something happens and I'm asleep when it happens.

Heh... you and me both niobexrev... I tend to flick back and forth and hit "refresh" every time I change a window to see if there are any new posts... and it's people like you and I who are always just behind on the puzzle solves (and right at the forefront of the spec and discussion). I know timezones don't help us, but still.
Big props to the peeps with the hardcore addiction: 'Thrax, Bri, Chancesend, yeahyeah, xnbomb... you guys are just at the top of the list that springs to mind, but I think it's a testament to the creative talent gathered here that people like me who sit on these forums all day at work and check back every 10-15 minutes for updates are TOO SLOW!
Much respect to the Metacortex Family!

Then we need a name! If we are running point on this game, much like the "Cloudmakers" of the Beast fame, we need a name.
Any suggestions?
No, "People Who Obsess Over the October 1st Image" is not an option.
How about:
"YeahYeah's Beard"
Nooo...
"Pasty Faced Hermits"
Nope...
I've got it:
"Timewasters"
Okay, now you try.

Hmm.
Wongmo's Wankers
Spoonbenders
Sporkbenders!
Sporkers
Caesar's Celery Sticks
(I have no idea where that one came from)
Wired Realtors?
Wongmers...kinda sounds like polymers...I don't know why we would want our group name to sound like polymers, but...
Yeah, I'm clearly out of ideas.
(Did I dangle any participles that time?)

I like that one I like "Spoonbenders" but is it too derivative? Does it sound too much like "Cloudmakers"?
{begin="grammar check;" confidence="1.0"; result="okay"}
Now correct my computer grammar.

I like that. Or maybe just 'spoons'. I'm a spoon, you're a spoon, we're all spoons. Goes nice with my avatar too.... So how y'all spoons feel about that?

Okay make some more suggestions about the name and I'll collect them and run a sticky poll..
that way we'll have a name for everyone involved even on other channels or chat rooms.. maybe even your friends and family can be spoonbenders.. or something
Cloudmakers sounds grand.. spoonbenders sounds.. umm.. kitcheny.. maybe we can figure it out once we find out what our role is in this game!
