Just to check on timeline, but weren't we told that we had enough information to find the cube before the library of babel flash stuff came out? Now I'm not saying there aren't important hints in there, but it shouldn't be stuff that isn't already theoretically available on the changes to the cards.

You are right. I think we had all the information necessary to find the cube with the release of Wave 4. Everything further is probably additional nudging...

We don't know how long the library of babel stuff has been there though, it could have been there since the beginning and we just never found it.

Well waking could have been up there for ages, but we've seen the other bits put up sequentially.

Not necessarily, they could have had different file names and gradually been put as the main page you see when you go to the site, it could have been we were meant to find them ourselves.

Ah, the power of whois.
http://whois.domaintools.com/thelibraryofbabel.com
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.thelibraryofbabel.com/ was only purchased a week ago. Not only has Mind Candy not put anything on it until then, they didn't even own it.

That page is just a redirect to www.perplexcityacademy.com/libraryofbabel , the original site that could have been up from, well, not quite the start but a heck of a lot earlier (and discovered 27th August). I think MC recently bought www.thelibraryofbabel.com to make it easy for new players to find (they've been advertising on the firebox newsletter) and join in now that we've done the hard work of finding the original page/solving the initial puzzle. Out of pure meta curiosity, is there any way of knowing when the pages where initially put up there?

Dissolution I figured I'd post this here:
Has anybody figured out what the deal with "dissolution"?
Appearances of Dissolution:
1) Card #70: Dissolution.
Featuring Garnet, possibly Sente, and a secret society. Project 487??
2) Library of Babel #3: Dissolution. Dissipating. Everything.
Reveals CT's landing in what appears to by NYC (not confirmed)
3) VHC Tempfile:
Quote:
Subject appears agitated entering first phase.
First phase successful. Dissolution complete.
"First phase successful. Dissolution complete" is repeated 9 times.
Definition of Dissolution from Dictionary.com:
Quote:
dissolution
–noun
1. the act or process of resolving or dissolving into parts or elements.
2. the resulting state.
3. the undoing or breaking of a bond, tie, union, partnership, etc.
4. the breaking up of an assembly or organization; dismissal; dispersal.
5. Government. an order issued by the head of a state terminating a parliament and necessitating a new election.
6. death; decease.
7. a bringing or coming to an end; disintegration; decay; termination.
8. legal termination, esp. of business activity, with the final distribution of assets, the fixing of liabilities, etc.
9. Chemistry. the process by which a solid, gas, or liquid is dispersed homogeneously in a gas, solid, or, esp., a liquid.
Any ideas from anyone? Sorry for distracting form the 5 fingers discussion!

"Dissolution" is simply the noun form of the verb "to dissolve". "Dissolution" is a rarer word, so it sounds more mysterious.
It sounds like the Cube has the power to transport matter, and that's what they were trying to replicate. Seems logical that the first phase of the transportation process is to dissolve the thing being transported into component parts for reassembly elsewhere.
I would probably appear agitated as I was dissolving, too. It might hurt.

Also, a dissolution should come before a resolution, which is what we need now.

Also as in "Arrrrgh, I just can't get dissolution to dis puzzle!"
But otherwise, hmm, I'd only noticed the card called Dissolution because if you look on the card grid page, it's "symmetrical" to the cards containing Risk pieces. (Note the location of cards 40, 60 and 90.)
