 [SOLVED] 11/06 Package from Peeps -> mrjohnsonsfall.blogspot
- mrjohnsonsfall, fivepennyopera, altheknife

Woot!
I got a package from Peeps today!
I don't have a digital camera, but I bought a disposable one just for this purpose.
Until I actually take the pictures and process them, I'll just describe the contents.

The same hot pink return address:
PEEPS
555 15TH STREET
SANTA MONICA, CA 90405

CONTENTS:
same sammeeeee t-shirt, ( I love it!) wrapped in pink paper.

Message on the outside reads, over and over again...
MRJOHNSONSFALL?
with this message interspersed in it:
THIS CD WAS TAKEN FROM THE DESK OF JACK AND GEORGE BY TM

Yes, there is also a CD.

A plain 80 min CD. Taped on the outside, on pink paper is "LISTEN CLOSELY"...( to which I thought, oh sh&*! , I don't know anything about downloading a music wav.)
2:52 length - unknown artist
The music has hints of "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Greig.

(In echoed speech) "Wealth breeds boredom, and boredom breeds vice. Poverty breeds anger, and anger breeds vice. That's the beauty of money.(not sure about that phrase) Wealth breeds boredom, and boredom breeds vice. Poverty breeds anger, and anger breeds vice. That's the beauty of money. That's the beauty of money. That's the beauty of money. (Then there's something whispered here, in reverse.) Humans and human needs lay hid in night. And I said, "let money be.... and all was light"

I will get the music up here as soon as I can, but I wanted to share what I could as soon as possible.

This leads naturally to
http://mrjohnsonsfall.blogspot.com/

As Dante pointed out in chat, we can now go to http://mrjohnsonsfall.blogspot.com/. A few things to note about this:

First, in the source is a number
Quote:
1.1462083178458622e+107

That's equal to 1.1462083178458622 x 10^107.

Next, there's a code:
Quote:
Ijss inj jnsjs xnsi nr Izspjqs Zsi inj fsijws xnsi nr Qnhmy Zsi rfs xnjmjy inj nr Qnhmyj Inj nr Izspjqs xnjmy rfs snhmy

EDIT: The code is solved:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You can ROT-20 it to get "Denn die einen sind im Dunkeln Und die andern sind im Licht Und man siehet die im Lichte Die im Dunkeln sieht man nicht."

This is German, and according to Dante, my Dad, and Google, means " For the ones they are in darkness, and the others are in light. And you see the ones in brightness. Those in darkness drop from sight" and is from the Threepenny Opera by Brecht.

Finally, note that each of the five images has a different file name:

http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5897/4064/1600/room505.1.jpg

Those aren't the only ones there, though - there are more!

Interesting to note that "Vice" was one of the keys in the Vig code in the BOOK.

sound file

Drizjr emailed me the sound file to post up, so here it is:

EDIT: The song is from (The Real) Tuesday Weld, and is called "The Root of All Evil." This was the same artist that did the song on the Danvers Hospital YouTube vid.

I looked at the images, and they're all the same. My stegdetect program didn't find anything in there, but there might be.

Here is an excerpt from the sound file that contains the reversed speech. It starts around 2:10. I've reversed it, and ran the high-pass filter several times. You can clearly hear "To everything there is a season" and then I think he goes on to say the rest of Ecclesiastes 3.1/Byrds... Smile

Google gave me: (1.1462083178458622 * e) + 107 = 110.115717

That doesn't ring any bells for me or in Google, Blogspot search, etc.

From what I've been able to find about this opera, those lines are from a song we know as "Mack the Knife". The english version made popular by Bobby Darren was a watered down version of the original words.

Quote:
The Ballad of Mac the Knife
Bertoldt Brecht, Kurt Weill
(Trans. copyright Bruce Triggs, 2002)

Well the shark has teeth like razors,
You can see them in its eyes
And Macheath has got his knife, but
He hides it well as a surprise.

See the shark's fins, red with blood now,
As it slashes at its prey,
But Macheath wears white kid-gloves
On which his crimes leave not a trace.

On a beautiful, Sunday morning,
There's a corpse stretched on the strand.
See a man dodge round the corner,
Is that Macheath there, knife in hand?

Now Jenny Towler, she turned up lately,
With a knife stuck through her breast,
At the Docks Macheath is walking,
Asked, "Who did it?" he cannot guess.

That ghastly fire in Soho,
Killed seven children, and one old man.
In the crowd there stands Macheath, but
Noone dares to raise a hand.

And the widow, still a minor,
Her assailants, still at large,
She woke up to rape and murder,
Mackie, how much did you charge?

(There's a verse about Capitalists profiting off the suffering of
the poor, but it's hard to make sense of without the rest of the
political context of the Weimer Republic play. It may have been
added later to beef up the political content after the play got
so popular.)

Now we have our happy ending,
Everything is reconciled.
If the needed cash was present
Then the end should make you smile.

For these ones, they are in darkness,
And the others they're in light.
And we see the ones in brightness,
While those in darkness drop from sight.

Hrmm. Yet another Bobby Darin song (e.g., "After You've Gone"). There are definitely some musical themes here. When She-Bop shows up in source code, we'll know..

Very Happy

Gotta remember my Cyndi Lauper trivia, sheesh.

She co-starred in The Threepenny Opera earlier this year along side Alam Cummings. I remember watching them do a scene during the Tonys.

Things that make you go hmmm...

Why were there more than one version of the red room picture? Shocked

Why did they put them in that order: 4 7 5 6 1 ????

Of course, that could just be a red herring.....

They've changed http://mrjohnsonsfall.blogspot.com/

There is now only one red hallway pic (and it's hosted on Flickr rather than Blogger.com).

And the source now has this:

Quote:

? 505 510 1015 1525.

[instead of "1.1462083178458622e+107"]

The ROT-German quote from the ThreePenny Opera is still there, though.

not that its much but each number adds to the next to give the next number over.
I dont know a lot about math, but

505 510 1015 1525

505 + 510 =1015
510 + 1015 = 1525

so?

1015 + 1525 = 2540 maybe?

That's great, but talking about this with enaxor in chat, we figured that it must be looking for the *first* number in the series, which is "5" -- because that is where the question mark is:

Quote:

5 505 510 1015 1525

So, since "5" is the answer, enaxor brilliantly put that together with the other clues and found:
