Ok, I've read all the theories and agree with the one about a quick flash and a long exposure. But there is one problem with this theory. Everyone that agrees with it says the guy behind the tree is throwing a glow stick/ running around with a torch. How does this theory explain the glows in front of the trees?

Maybe it's been explained and I've overlooked it, but I don't think it has. Maybe it's pointless to argue this since it probably won't lead us to an answer...

If someone wearing all black runs around with a sparkler, light stick, flare, or flashlight while the camera's aperture is open and the dude behind the tree stands very still, you can achieve the same effect.

Part one:

Guy stands behind tree, flash fires. This will imprint the trees, leaves, dude behind the tree, etc, onto the film.

Part two:

The aperature stays open in the darkness for a period of time (10-15 seconds?), a guy "off screen" quickly jogs in fame, (or even the guy behind the tree) pulls a glow stick out of his pocket, or turns on a flashlight that he had in his pocket, runs around in front of, behind, etc, the trees, then the aperature closes. Since it's dark, the film doesn't get "ruined" by anything, but only get's exposed where the glow stick/flashlight is streaking by.

Since the dude behind the tree was already imprinted on the film, once the flash goes out, he can then move without blurring his image.

This will result in the effect produced in that photo.

I think the big question is not how they made the photo, but whether the Cascade Vortex "faked" the picture in game, or if we are supposed to assume that it "really" happened.

Don't know if anyone had noticed a figure on the right side of the vortex halloween pic follow the tree trunk that looks like a bridge behind the 2 trees and it is to the right of it in the dark patch, at first I thought it might be beth in between the dimensions but it looks more vampirish today notice the collar part like batwings Embarassed can anyone else see this? Is it of any significance?

parthalloween

He kinda looks like the Count from Sesame street. Shocked

Actually, that's probably nothing. It's a case of the leaves, a dead branch, and jpg compression playing tricks on your eyes.

LoL Oh well i'm glad at least that you could see what I meant, guess I spent too many hours yesterday trying to catch up with everything reading staring at images and when I got to that page it just stood out to me Embarassed

It's not actually a theory, it's in the EXIF data in the image - flash fired, exposure time of several seconds at f2.8 blah blah. It's easy enough. Flash fires at the start of the exposure, freezing the hand. Shutter stays open for x number of seconds, during which time someone runs into the frame (not necessarily the guy behind the tree) waving a maglite around, but taking care to stay out of the beam and thus remains unlit and, to the camera, invisible. That's how it was done.

xnbomb, You really are on the same frequency my mind is ;o)

Yes, i agree with you that there are several events in the same days and those event are one concerning lights, one concerning living being or stuff (anyway there has been 3 events on oct 31).

My guess is that the AI man causes both, so this must have happened just b4 the one Beth has experienced .......

well.. let's see what else happens.

To view EXIF data in a straight camera file, I used to use Fuji's digital camera software (some sort of browser), but now I've upgraded to Photoshop 7 it has a browser that really does pick up EXIF data from heavily messed-with images.

Yeah, I've got Photoshop 7 as well, but I can't seem to read the original data, just data from when I copied/pasted the picture to Photoshop.

Don't copy or paste it, save the file onto a local hard disk and use PS7's browser. When you highlight the image, the EXIF data is displayed in a panel on the browser window. You need to be looking at the full size image on Cascade Vortex, incidentally, not a smaller JPEG.

Again, not sure if it's a PM oversight, or something to point out that the CascadeVortex hoaxters had this planned for a while...

Yeah I just noticed this too, strange Confused

Theory, and I think it is right on.

guys behind both trees. Guy on right was able to be completely behind tree.

guy on left was not as lucky. Light source, probably a flashlight from the looping, was thrown from left to right first.

Then it was thrown right to left but in front of the left tree. The light curve behind the right tree looks like a underhand throw. Which would cause the light to loop thru the air like it did.

Notice that there are spaces in the light. the flashlight was facing away from the camera in the air.

It also looks like someone also shined a light on the right tree.
