Charades
How to designate ARGs?

So far the main progress I've made on ARGFest planning is to decide that we should play charades (and other stuff) during the Friday night party after dinner. I went to a fundraiser recently where they were playing Charades and I realized how much fun we can have playing them during an ice breaker type party

Anyway, at ARGFest we need to include titles of ARGs as well as movies, books and songs as the thing that is acted out (don't know what the correct word is for the title you are trying to guess.) Movies, books, songs and plays all have specific gestures that indicate what they are - quick refresher the first thing the "acter-outer" (need another word) does in a Charade is a gesture that identifes which genre the title is from - but ARGs don't have one yet.

So we need to come up with some gesture that will let the guessers know the ARG genre for a title being guessed (is it called "the clue?).

Ideas?

edit: moved to various and sundry as it seemed a bit more various and sundry Smile - imbri

Not all that creative, but the American sign language for "not fiction" could be done quickly. "not a game" could be done too, and would fit better, but probably wouldn't be as smooth:

Mimicking a marionette puppeteer?

ASL for "game" is simple, but I like "gamble" better.
And "play (Fun)" isn't bad.

Oooh, i like the Pinnochio suggestion. Very Happy

We don't use the ASL sign for movies when charading the film category. I see no need to use official signs for this.

An alternate suggestion might be to tear one's hair out while holding the mouth wide open, as in "…And then the screaming started."

Puppet Master:

Hands held out in front, separate fingers into a claw like fashion.
Alternate lifting them slightly up and down.

*konamouse* came up with this after a glass of wine.

Two ideas I had:

the classic "headdesk"

hand over one eye like a pirate.... ARG?
