[SPEC] Murpha Projects I keep looking at the Murpha project page , wondering if we are missing something. For instance, xnbomb, colin, White Knight and the rest have mapped out the paranormal events and discovered the recent ones fall along a line. Has anyone done something similar with the Murpha buildings--or tried to correlate buildings with points along the paranormal line? Similarly, a couple of the Murpha buildings are in the same cities as the CD drop points and the note on the CD has Murpha letterhead. The Aquapolis is on their list, as are two Metacortex buildings--but not the one in Redlands.
Anyone care to throw in a speculation or two for us to kick around?

Murpha Buildings I can't resist an invitation to make a map
It's actually pretty interesting looking: If you ignore New York (and the Aquapolis ... I'll stick to a continental USA analysis for now), there is an interesting sort of symmetry (again). Portland-Pleasanton-Los Angeles x 2-Las Vegas is sort of a mirror image of Orlando-Indianapolis-Chicago x 2-St. Louis, reflected across a center point in Kansas. It is by no means an exact symmetry ... more of a sort of rough 'opposite and equal'. Having two buildings in Chicago and LA really reinforces that for me.
I'm not going to suggest that this means anything at this point ... it's just sort of ... interesting Also, the paranormal event points sort of are in the midst of the buildings ... the buildings kind of bracket them.

I'm sure someone has said this before, but it seems pretty obvious to me that Ryan dropped off the CDs while he was traveling around for work (Murpha) purposes, or that he chose those cities to leave the CD because he was familiar with them because of work.

here's something you'll love the sound of, xnbomb: join up the dots on your map starting in Portland and finishing in NY. If you trea Orlando and Chicago as statistical outliers, you have a pretty looking sine wave there...

I can't tell if it's just my eyes, or the map, or the fact that the map is a certain style (Mercator projection?), but it almost appears that most of the incidents line up with a Murpha building along the same parallel. Except for points at the extreme ends, it looks like each yellow paranormal point has a black building dot somewhere to the left or right.

A little latitude

Hmm, interesting idea. No, it wouldn't be the projection ... that map is decimal degrees geographic, meaning it is not projected at all in a conventional sense . What this means is that for this map, lines of latitude are parallel to the X-axis.
Regardless, if two things have the same latitude, they have the same latitude in any projection. However, there are quite a few buildings, so they cover a lot of ground. Here's some latitudes to compare:
Event 104 32.37
Event 102 33.50
Event 100 35.33
Event 98 38.47
Event 99 41.39
Event 101 42.86
Event 103 46.55
Orlando 28.50
Los Angeles 34.11
Las Vegas 36.21
Pleasanton 37.67
St. Louis 38.63
Indianapolis 39.78
New York 40.67
Chicago 41.84
Portland 45.54
I don't know how good a correpondance we need before it means something ... one problem is I had to a make a very small map so as to not stretch the forum window too wide (which it did a little anyhow). This results in point symbols that are pretty big in the context of the map scale.

am posting this on belhalf of White_Night, its all his work.
Following on from the IRC discussion of finding a formula for these events ]White_Knight came up with the prediction of 28.28 for the latitude with the formula:y=(((1.0000000025^(100000000*t))*((-1)^t))*(1.77)+38.47)
He wanted you to know:
<White_Knight> you may want to put that i actualy went through a long prosess to figure out the formula and didn't just pull it out of my ass
*** White_Knight was kicked by oracle (Watch your language!)
finding where this intersects with your predicted line gives the next event in the bermuda triangle.
[colin]Here's a map i made (badly): http://www.abbl.org/~colin_robot/predict2.gif [/colin]
Found the above in another thread named 'Patterns'
The cities are also close together in a triangle . Bermuda triangle anyone?

I'm afraid I'm just not seeing the sine wave... Are you connecting Murpha architectural projects, or all dots on the map?

bakntime: start by ignoring Orlando and Chicago, the join the other "black dots" on xnbombs map. After a bit of discussion with him I'm not sure if it is significant/relevant: especially given the apparent correlation of murpha buildings and paranormal events.

Ok... you're almost there. All you have to do now is place your left hand over your right eye, and squint your left eye whilst silting your head 45 degrees to the right and standing on one foot. In a bowl of pudding.
I didn't actually join the dots myself, just had a look and went "hey, that looks a bit like a sine wave", so you've just debunked me there, bakntime!
My apologies for the wild goose-chase!

lol
That's ok, I just thought maybe I was losing it!
(I'm a math teacher - so when something mathematical comes up that I don't get, you can understand how it drives me nuts )
Funny thing is, I was trying to make a sine wave, and came up with this picture:
(although it's a sine wave - or perhaps more accurately a cosine wave, it's got some pretty good frequency modulation going on there, as well as being a little crooked )
