Earlier in chat today Spacebass told us he got a package from Peeps. On his pink paper was the word "valse" repeated over and over. Also something about "my heart is in a pillar at holy cross". Thanks to several in chat, we discovered that valse was french for waltz, and drizjr found that Chopin's heart was entombed in a pillar at Holy Cross church. This led to www.fredericchopin.blogspot.com

edit - cause I was typing too fast and put work instead of word.

The piece of music being played is Chopin's Waltz in b minor Op. 69 no. 2, which leads to http://waltzop69no2.blogspot.com/
Quote:
The Waltz

And so it has been, and so it is written
On the doorway to paradise
That those who falter and those who fall
Must pay the price

My name is Mrs. Paul Foucher. I was born in 1916 to the very proper Hamilton - Gardener family of Columbus, Ohio. 1916 is a date that seems to be a lifetime ago. I suppose that it is more than a lifetime for many. My family was comfortable. My father was a business man. I suppose he was what we would call today "an investor". He made his money by giving money to others who possessed ideas for businesses he believed would turn a profit. My father must have been good at being "an investor" because he had at one time twenty businesses for which he held contracts. My parents were strict. By today's standards, they were impossible. My sisters and I were not allowed to date until we reached the age of 18.

At age ten (1926) my sisters and I and our dear mother sat Father down and begged him to take us across the pond. Many of our friends had made this journey and we hoped to do so as well.

On the eve of my 14th birthday (1930), my family set sail for England. My parents had decided it was time for the family to see the world. It was a trip that would change my life forever.

At the moment that my family was sailing to England, Paul Foucher's life was also taking a turn that would change his life forever as well. Paul Foucher, who had also been born the same year as I, had been in the care of Broadmoor Hospital since the age of five. Broadmoor cared for and treated him for his psychological maladies until he reached the age of 14. At 14, Paul Foucher was handed over to the care of a man known as Mr. John Morningstar. Mr. John Morningstar was an agent for the company known to many as Otis Elevator. It was Mr. Morningstar's job to find young men and young women to serve the company in life-long positions. A favorite place to find grateful recruits was this horrible place called Broadmoor Hospital. Mr. Morningstar had been pre-training Paul Foucher since 1928. By the time Paul had reached the age of fourteen, he'd completed two years of this pre-training. On the day of his fourteenth birthday, Mr. Morningstar signed a piece of paper pledging to care for the boy and the twosome walked off into the city streets.

One week later, while walking along in Covent Gardens with my sisters, I would meet the love of my life, Paul Foucher. His first words to me were the following: "Did you come down from the heavens? You cannot be any other than an angel. I will love you and you will love me until our days are done." This young man sent my heart to places it had never dreamt of being. We spoke for only a few minutes and he asked me to meet him the following day. My sisters were sworn to secrecy and they covered for me while I fell deeply in love with Paul Foucher. Our meetings were not scandalous. It was mostly holding hands and talk of love. I can see his face right now. He was a dream to me. The dream came to an abrupt ending when my father discovered that I was sneaking off with this boy. Almost immediately our family was packed and on the boat back to the United States.

Paul Foucher and I wrote to each other for four years. (1931, 1932, 1933, 1934) My mother was much more of a romantic than my father and she kept my letters from Father's watchful eye. On the eve of my eighteenth birthday, the doorbell of our home in Columbus, Ohio rang five times. It was Mr. Paul Foucher. My Father stepped out onto the porch and the two spoke for nearly an hour. I was beside myself. I wanted nothing more than to wrap my arms around my love and hold him close forever more! After the hour had passed, my Father opened the door and called out my name. I stepped onto the porch and without warning, Paul swept me off my feet and yelled to the sky, "MARRY ME, HELEN! AND BE MINE FOREVER MORE!"

We were married in the late summer of 1935. The wedding was exquisite. Our first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Paul Foucher was to Chopin's Valse opus 69, number 2. Our wedding day seemed to be filled only with magic and love.

We set sail for England two years after our wedding vows were spoken(1937). We, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Foucher, were happy for the next 22 years. We had a wonderful life together. We had a wonderful daughter together in 1940. Paul took such great care with both of us. I could not believe my happiness.

In the spring of 1959, without warning or even a hint of infidelity, Mr. Paul Foucher came home from a business dinner and packed his bags. He walked out the door at midnight and I never saw him again.

I was informed, by those who take pleasure to "inform" others of gory details, that Paul had left me for his assistant, a very young and very beautiful woman, who he had met and hired in 1954. I tried to contact Paul on many, many occasions but never succeeded. He did not seek me out.

The years passed and I never grew weary of hoping he would walk back in as easily as he had walked out. Mr. Paul Foucher never filed for a divorce. We remained a married couple. I had always thought that was a sign from him that he would return to me. I was wrong.

In the winter of 1968, our daughter, Pennie, came down with a terrible illness. In 1972 Pennie passed away. She had been ill for some time and in the end, it was a blessing to see her go. I phoned Paul again and again. I wrote many telegrams. He never responded. We held her service without her father present. I lost my hope on that day. It has never returned. All hope is gone forever for me.

In 1975, a darling friend of mine gave me a copy of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables. I had never read it. It was a treasure found! I savored each page of this sad journey. It seemed to speak to me in so many ways. I tell you, honestly, that I reread this book again and again for the next five years.

In 1980, I received word that a new musical had opened in Paris based on my favorite book. I knew at once that I must make the trip and attend. Tickets were impossible to obtain, but in the spring of 1981, my French maid told me she had a connection for tickets. I followed the path to her brother in-law in Paris and he sold me a ticket to see the play in the fall of 1982.

1982 came and I went. It was glorious. I had no idea what they were saying (my French is terrible) but I understood the actors and this story in a way that I can not explain.

On September 1st, 1985, I received word that Les Miserables was to open here in London! I was, of course, one of the first to have tickets. I could not wait for the evening to arrive. Opening night was October 28th, 1985! I had a new dress and a handsome escort for my evening with Cosette! As I made my way to the entrance of the Barbican Theatre, a very good friend of mine bustled to my side and whispered, "Mr. Paul Foucher is inside." My heart sunk back into its sadness. I turned and walked away from the theatre.

Five months later, in 1986, I did attend Les Miserables. It moved me even more than the book! The music sang into my heart and put life back into my soul. One song in particular has always and will always tell my tale. It is the song "I dreamed a dream". It is sung by Fantine, Cosettes mother. After that first night I knew I must attend again. I did attend again in 1987, 1988, and again in 1989. From 1989 until 2001, I then attended it weekly.

Five years ago (2001), a lawyer phoned me to tell me that my husband, Mr. Paul Foucher was in hospital. He had suffered a stroke and they were not sure if he would make it. My legs grew weak and I fainted. When I came to I was in hospital. The doctor told me I had suffered a minor stroke. He told me that I would be fine but advised me to remain home until I regained my strength. I never heard from that lawyer again until recently, in January of 2006, when he announced to me that Paul would be soon living out his life in a "full care facility" outside Chicago.

Something has happened to me over these last five years. I lost all my courage as well as all my will to live. The smallest sound makes me jump. I refuse to see friends. I see no one other than the lovely young man that cares for me. His name is Russell. He is the one good thing in my life. I have even stopped dreaming. My life is without life. I doubt this will change before I am gone from this world forever.

There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame

He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.

The opening quote is the same one used on the packages player received with the "I Dreamed a Dream" lyrics.

The bold italized words there lead to http://itisthedoorway.blogspot.com/ entitled, "This came from the lawyer." (Picture attached below.)

I received this a while ago but didn't notice it. I will introduce you all to the sad and lovely Mrs Paul Froucher. I hope she has a strong constitution.

Hello to you again, Dashcat! Look at me! I am the One and the Only Jean Moulin! Look at you! Dashing Dashcat! You are making such nice friends with Mrs. Paul Foucher! This is most beautiful! This will be most helpful as we move forward! Instead of a cold "out of the blue" message from someone unknown, you can introduce us to your friend, Mrs. Paul Foucher! We should soon have enough messages. Perhaps you can write to your new friend and tell her that you have some friends who would like to cheer her up with their own performance of this song! Tada! We sing! Tada! We touch her heart! I imagine Mrs. Paul Foucher is very beautiful! Her note to you was so full of love! I could kill Paul Foucher with my brave and strong hands! What kind of man could break her heart!? Eh? I am looking at my reflection in the window right now. Hello, Jean Moulin! I am very handsome when I am angry... My hair it glimmers like an angel even though I fume! For now, Dashcat, you will continue to be kind to your new friend! She love you even more by the time morning comes!
I am the One and the Only

Ok I sent this to Mrs. Foucher:

Quote:
Dear Mrs. Foucher,

You are so sweet and kind. Yes, the song I know is "I Dreamed a Dream". It breaks my heart.

Mrs. Foucher, I have told my friends about you. My friends who love Les Miserables. They are so sad that you believe you will never hear I Dreamed a Dream sung again that they have made a presentation for you. I hope their love for the music and their good intentions warm your heart. They created this place for you. http://sammeeeeesgivelovetoyou.blogspot.com/ . Please know that they have only your happiness in mind.

Sincerely,
Dashcat

I sent an email to Peeps to thank him for the tshirt and to let him know that Betty was sending sekrit messages. No real new information.

Peeps,

I received your package yesterday and I wanted to say "Thank You"! I love the t-shirt. I'm assuming the cd and lyrics are from Mr. Jean Moulin. I will send a big thank you to him as well. We have already been in contact with him and at this moment we're planning our show for Mrs. Paul Foucher. Piece four should be obtained soon.

I also wanted you to know that a couple of my friends have received emails from Betty that have messages hidden within. I'm not sure if Betty is sending these messages subconsciously or if she's doing it because someone else is reading them, like Mr. Alan Johnson. The message so far is "please meet me on boardwalk". Any idea how this should be handled?

I'll talk to you soon, and thanks again.

Hello Enaxor,

I am delighted that you like the t-shirt! Smile It is my "thank you" to all of you for helping me, the five, and the world. And yes the rest of the package is from Jean Moulin. If you don't mind, the Tall Man would like me to send you something that he believes we might need in the weeks ahead.

As far as Betty is concerned, I would speak with Jean Moulin or the Tall Man. They know more about room 505 and what can be done to help her.

Thank you again for taking the time out of your life to stop and help an ordinary man, Enaxor. You are a true and good Sammeeeee.

I sent a thank you note to Jean for the cd and lyrics he sent in the Peeps package. In his reply he says we need one more to sing for Mrs. Paul Foucher.

Hello to you my brave friend Enaxor, I am the One and the Only Jean Moulin. We do need one more to step forward and sing. Do you know if we may have one? It would be most beautiful to send our songs to Mrs. Paul Foucher today. Please let me know. I will be here for you! I must go now and floss my sparkling white teeth. Did you know that my dentist loves my teeth? She tells me, "Jean Moulin, your teeth they are very, very handsome!" This makes me feel so wonderful to know that while she is working hard she can enjoy my beauty! I hope we soon can share my teeth and twinkling eyes with Mrs. Paul Foucher. Eh?

As we were talking in chat today, I mentioned that line 5 of the graphic of years posted above, had 5 1931's in a row. Kona figured out they must be E's. We went from there using a simple sub for the years and came up with

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The box with the spoocheeeee piece four can be found if you subtract the year of my freedom from broadmoor from the year of my freedom from helen and add that to the year of the birth of pennie plus five plus ten.

Which using the correct dates from Helen's blog we get
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1984

Thanks to drizjr who found the next blog.

To explain the solving process how it happened:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
enaxor noted that 1931 showed up 5 times in a row. That's our signal for eeeee. Working on that assumption (1931 = e) I started working back to figure out some of the other words (i.e. preceeding eeeee is either Spoocheeeee or Sammeeeee) and then other words became clear.
Working backwards it was figured that the years, put in order of appearence, and then assigned letters in order, appeared to give the key. So the first date 1916 = a, the second date 1926 = b, the third date 1930 - c, the fourth date 1928 = d, etc.
We're still not sure about

But I suppose we need to wait for Jean Moulin to "woo" her before we can be so bold as to make such a request.

The bad news: I sent the link to Mrs. Foucher last night. The good news: She hasn't responded yet so I am assuming she hasn't read the email. I posted the letter I sent last night further up in this thread.

I hope its ok.

Oh! She saw the site and she's happy! Yayyy!

Quote:
My dear Dashcat,

I don't know how to thank you for this. Where do I begin? You and your friends have given me such a darling and touching gift. Here you are, a complete stranger, and you have walked into my life, out of the blue, and brought this gesture of love to me. Thank you, dear. I can see that your friends have the most sincere intentions. You can read it on their darling faces or hear it in their voices. Isn't it odd that fate has had our paths cross? So much of life is a mystery still to me. I had given up hope of hearing this song sung to me again and then here it is, a gift. Again, I thank you, dear Dashcat.

Best wishes,
Mrs. Paul Foucher

The bad news: I sent the link to Mrs. Foucher last night. The good news: She hasn't responded yet so I am assuming she hasn't read the email. I posted the letter I sent last night further up in this thread.

I hope its ok.

Ah, dash, you live up to your name, don't ya? Were you always one to not follow directions????? Laughing

Fortunately, probably she didn't log in to her emails today and it's sleepy time in the UK right now..... time enough for Jean Moulin to get Red's contribution on the site and that gives us the magic number 5 entries!!!!!
