What is also annoying is that if you are a casual lurker for this game, and have no clue as to how to move on from this point, and are coming here to look for clues and/or answers, you're screwed. (Which, if it were me, would then mean that the "casually lurking" status gets thrown out the window, replaced by the "not gonna play" status.)

*konamouse* nods. I'm not a puzzler. But I like to follow the progress.
Games that pit one side vs the other....not my cup of tea.

I was going to lurk, possibly provide some input, but now I'm going over to Jamesi's side.

In a spirit of collaboration that may make me a villain amongst some of the DC players (though both sides already have the puzzle and people on both sides have solved it, so I don't see why it can't be made available for those that would like to follow along) ...

The answer is 11/11/2036 thanks to Agent Lex for the hint and xnbomb for the direction.

hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

In the source, you'll see a simple equation. You'll also want to pay attention to some of the other code

full walkthru
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The answer to the eqaution is 2110036271
It's going to a file called time.php

the answer is a unix time stamp which, when converted is 11/11/2036 17:11:11 GMT. If you put in 11/11/2036 you'll see success

When you answer input the correct code, you get taken to a registration page and have to agree to a TOS with FundiTechnologies - basically not holding them liable for anything that happens. When you complete the registration, you'll get an email. Once you verify it and sign in, you'll get taken to a psych test for defense corp, part of Fujimoto Industries (the logo of which is linked above in the thread).

Thank you imbri, if you had not posted that I believe this would have been the stopping off point for players like me looking to catch up before jumping aboard or those who just want to follow the game. And with that said I don't like the idea of taking sides so if I continue to play I will remain neutral. And I certainly hope, using imbri's words, "In a spirit of collaboration," the factions will not withhold future info that would prevent new players from catching up.

Sylvia, the answer had been posted in this very thread but removed untill Brackin's side had access to the website in question.

As it happens the Brackins found the website minutes after the answer was edited out of this post. (as seen in the Brackin thread)

Imbri posted the answer back before Mindez (who was probably in bed sleeping) could edit it back in.

Alot of people seem to think we are destroying the game and withholding info.

That is simply not true and it's rather frustrating.

See my post in the MySpace thread for a more complete explanation of this Smile

Yeah, but in order to do that, she'd have to register for MySpace, right? Which, again, is something I, at least, am not willing to do. And I'm sure I'm not the only person that feels that way about MySpace.

The problem, Sylvia, is that (as I understand it) if you don't pick a "side" and register for it in-game (as opposed to using the player-created resources), you don't get the game's karma points (active players, can you register for both?). Not sure yet what they do, but I doubt the PMs set up the system without a reason, so it's bound to affect actual gameplay at some point.

KGBrAM, what you said is not very nice. I really wanted to play this game and put it on my list. It was not suppose to start until Spring of 2007 so I knew I had plenty of time to get other things done. But with the early launch I have been playing catch up and when i do that i start with the thread at the bottom of the line and work my way to the top. Beginning today, in the early morning hours I started reading and this thread happened to be the first I read (at the bottom). And reading it I have a wow moment, "Wow, a new website!" and then I try to solve the puzzle and realize I haven't a clue as to what it might be and since I want to get caught up with everyone else I look back here to see if anyone has solved it yet and yes it's been solved but the info was withheld. I started to quit at that point but thankfully i read to the end of the thread and imbri had the foresight to post it for us that are trying to catch up. And as far as edited post, I don't read them as they don't show up as new content when I log-in. I only read edits when I wonder upon them. And the post your talking about when i read it had the password removed. But that's enough on this rant. This will be my last post here. As I quit, going to save myself a lot of reading. I just wished now, I hadn't sent my info into that stupid site. I believe the game will fail at the rate it's going.

Look I know this is a tough ARG to follow, But I don't think they built this ARG for lurkers. I honestly don't think any ARG is made for lurking that's why it is an ARG (alternate reality game) not a book.

This ARG obviously a new situation and most people aren't ready for it. I personally think all information should be posted on UF. But if we (God forbid) didn't have UF you would have no other option but to do what we are doing.

If everyone lurked on ARG's there would be no ARG. Sinse We are not lurking We are IG so we have to act as such. And if we didn't have UF we would have no OOG forum. So we all just have to have a symbiotic relationship here.

So here is my suggestion Sylvia If you have any Questions contact me or anyone if you can't find something on PM. I would be more than happy to help you.

And KGBrAm continue what you are doing. Play the Game the way you want to, It has worked this far for you guys so keep doing it.

When you sign up Phaedra, you simply get cataloged by DefenceCorp. You do not chose sides or anything.

People just see this as Lord of the Rings.
Some see Aragorn as the Hero, some Frodo, and yet some maybe even Mary.
But it's still the same story, and no matter who you're rooting for, they all still work together, and you get the benefit of seeing multiple sides of the same story.

I have to brush up on my Foo'ology but atleast Brackin has turned sack-clothed prophet of god at this point, quoting revelations, and I still suspect Foo to be the other half of that prophet duo.

take breaths, and enjoy, don't fight and get upset and stuff. There's absolutely no reason to sign up for myspace (i did it, so i know what im talking about =P)

MONTREAL seems to see defencecorp as a thread now too, and I'd really aprciate a nudge to a post/thread where the FooFighters (and or Foo himself) realize that these guys are bad news and so on (if such a thing exists and im not reading too much into it all).

Also I'd really love to read that "Story so far" post KGB mentioned in another post. Please please please do that one still KGB. Don't let frizzle get to you, I'm counting on you to make the mystery clearer ^^

You guys can't just quit and fall out over this. I mean we've so far only had one puzzle to solve! as Sampson says it is a tough ARG to follow at the moment but I've been lurking a lot since the start. I was a little concerned when the answers wernt revealed but they are there now and I think the reasons they were removed were acceptable for the time. So long answers are shared andwe can all progress together, which we have done so far... well it's no reason just to quit and leave a pretty damn good ARG so soon.

...I'm sorry, what? What did he say that was not very nice? I've read and re-read his post over and over, and he's just telling it as it is. He's not opinionating over anything, he's just relaying the events of what happened.

I posted the answer on here, because I thought it wouldn't matter. But then, I find out that the Brackins get the puzzle too, as they were supposed to. We SHOULDN'T have been discussing the answer with the Brackins, because we were both supposed to solve it on our own.

And that's the key to this game. This game is **NOT** for people that just want to play casually. And, unfortunately, that is it's downside. It's hard for people to get in, because you do have to join a side, and you have to hide information from the other side. We're not supposed to be discussing things together. Because it's PART OF THE GAME, but because the game creators want to put a rift in the community. I'm perfectly happy to befriend as many Brackins as I want, two of the Brackins at LEAST are friends of mine.

But when I'm in character, when emailing In Game, when doing anything that is In Game, they are no longer my friends.

The key to a game like this is to be able to switch between IG and OOG mode, straight away. And if you can't do that, it won't be a very good game, and you'll make a lot of enemies.

That's my view on the game so far. I want to ENJOY this game, and share information BETWEEN OTHER FOOS, not posting every super-secret piece of information we get on this forum for the Brackins to steal (Even subconciously, as in the case with the answer to the puzzle. I editted it out, and yet someone had already seen it, and thus shared it with the other Brackins.)

It's a competition, in my eyes, between the two sides. And if we share everything here, there's no point to it any more.

I don't have a clue what I'm trying to say, but I'm giving up. I've told this to people SO many times.

IT'S A GAME. We do not fall out about this Out Of Game. If we do, we're reduced to the level of squabbling children, angry because they lost. Sure, we're on seperate sides. So? Are we not intelligent enough to realise the difference between a game and reality? Because we're against each other in a game means nothing, as soon as we're out of game.

And because both sides have secrets now, don't let the mistrust continue to OOG places.

Seriously, it's getting ridiculous. It's a simple game, a good idea for a game, now lets get on and play it. But no, all that I see is people complaining about how hard it is to follow, and how they don't have all the information.

1) Of course it's hard to follow, it's an ARG.

2) Of course you don't have all the information, that's the whole idea of this game.

So I'll say it again - This ARG is not for lurkers, in my opinion.

Get along.

-Mindez
