I recieved the same mail

The last paragraph is a clue to where Brackin puts up info now, but it hasn't been updated in a few days.

I dunno if it's a lul in posts, if we've missed a clue or if he just wants to be sure more have "found him".
Only me and Sampson have let him know that we've found his new hiding spot so far (atleast at the spot) maybe if everyone else posted comments it would help?

what do i know, im just as much in the dark as everyone else, just speculating =)

I'll post something on the blog. I think it's a good idea.

So Brackin is leaving, and he leaves a puzzle so his buddies can know where he is.

From his blog:

Quote:

The journey begins.
Hero's journey? Perhaps. Fools errand? More likely. I will find him. As of yet I am still in the Lone Star state - I have a long way to go. To those who are helping and wish to track me, here is my initial destination:

Neo & Trinity,
Kagome & Inuyasha,
Lloyd & Harry,
Frodo & Sam,
Alice & The Rabbit,
Atreyu & Artax,
Robert & Sophie.

-Deus Ex Machina

While Foo talks about logic, Brackin talks about Dumb and Dumber. Laughing

Anyhow, me and notgordian worked on it, and it's:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Those are characters from:
Matrix
Inuyasha
Dumb and dumber
Lord of the rings
Alice in wonderland
Neverending story
Davinci code

First letters: Midland

Midland TX.

I sent in a warning to Brackin and received the following response.

Quote:

Well done, but I am already here. I needed to check something important but it was a dead end. Tomorrow I move on to one of the other two possibilities. I am pirating an unsecure wireless feed from under an underpass near a coffee shop. I will take your advice and make my trail more difficult to follow.

Deus Ex Machina

Looks like we'll be getting more information tomorrow, then. And, yeah. I'm new, so let me know if I make any mistakes along the way.

I just realized that the Bush's are from Midland but ofcourse they don't live there. Other than that, my superficial Wikisearch didn't come up with anything worth looking for in that town.

He does talk about "The other two possibilities" though, but we don't really have any information on what those are, do we?

Sorry I was unclear before. I was warning Brackin not to go to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Midland, TX
because he's off trying to find Foo, who we finally learned is, in fact, Fujimoto from Foo's most recent blog post (big surprise).

I didn't think a confrontation with a guy who's going to become the president of the largest company in the future would be a good thing...especially when he posts on a blog that was just as easy for Foo's followers to find as for Brackin's followers.

New blog post.

Brackin thanks Mr "Charmical" as a topic. I figure that's either the suburban house owner he talks about in his post, or someone who emailed him (Gordian maybe?)

Anyway, his blogpost ends with this cryptic piece of text:

KIBTLIQ JY HBQST DNUQKIY KNQ GUAANRF TN TIJOGI

I dunno if I should start a new puzzle thread for this, or just dump it here. I decided to dumb it here.

I ran it through Rot-It but nothing intelligable jumped to my eye.

Hack the Feed people! =)

--Edit

I think the fact that "WEP KEY" is in capitals is a hint on how to decrypt the text. Apparently it takes 29 characters to generate a 256 bit encryption WEP-key, and that line contains exactly 29 characters.
I've never dealt with it before, so I haven't crunched it yet, but here's a website i found that i hope can help me
http://www.andrewscompanies.com/tools/wep.asp

Just throwing it out there.

I count 39 characters, not including spaces.

WEP is an acronym, so I imagine that's why it's capitalised. Of course, it could just be a Vigenere, with WEPKEY as the key or something. I can't be bothered to do more than stick it into rot-it like you did, heh.

DOH you're right... the webpage just truncated it at 29 characters.

I think Charmichael is the passphrace that will descramble the garbled text. I just need to find me a nice WEP decoder...
