[DESCRY] [UPDATE] Divination Board
The site now opens up to a new divination board

Monday afternoon (European time) the site is now accessed by querying with any word.

The new words are "Change" "Sacrifice" Where" "what" "Father" "see" "you" "steal" "who" "mother" "trick".
This is an expanded vocabulary

1.Where+ Mother "Where is the Father?" = Underground. Locked Forever
2.Where + Father "Where is the Mother?" = Underground. A soft pine box.
3.Who + See + You "Who sees you?" = My Brother see me? Can he look past Death's face?
4.Who + Sacrifice "Who was the Sacrifice?" = Edward, poor Edward, who only looks forward, whose world is sunsets and tombstones
5.Who + Father "Who was the Father?" = Missing, presumed dead to the world
6.Who + Mother "Who was the Mother? = Dead at Forty. Hit and Run. Tension High, suddenly snapped. She could take no more, and was walking away.
7.What + Father + Steal "What did the Father Steal?" = The brother looking forward. The brothers' bond. Lives, and lives, for the life for the love of one who no longer loved.
8.What + Mother + Steal "What was stolen from the Mother?" = Life
9. What + Sacrifice + Mother "What was the sacrifice of the Mother?" = A cold vestigial marriage. Oh, oh Edward twisted it with words and lies. Her Life was forfeit instead.
10. What + Sacrifice + Father "What was the sacrifice of the Father?" = Edward, who was made to touch the world beyond.

These are just the ones I had the patience with during the half an hour I had at my disposal and since there are words I didn't even try, the list -I'm guessing - should be double to triple what I'm showing here.

I also have the above answers in the attached .doc so everybody can add to these and we can all work towards having all available data out there for Tuesday.

Good Luck.

Agamemnon: Would just like to point out that it's "Where is the mother?" and "Where is the father?", not "was" Razz Oh, and 1. and 2. need switiching around. Smile

1. Who + Trick "Who did you trick"? = Not Tom. No, no. Edward laid the trick and the trap. She died, when he thought he was just telling a lie.

2. What + Changed "What has changed?" = Brothers broken in two. One forward, the other behind. The world frowns at such disjunction.

3. What + See "What do you see?" = Circles and cycles and already happeneds. I see death's four faces touching my brother, again and again.

4. What + You + Sacrifice "What was your sacrifice?" = A bullet for the steady shores of the sane.

5. Who + You "Who are you?" = Cold. I am a-cold. A brother with a mad. No lifeline, oh, oh, sweep me away.

6. What + Father + See "What did the father see?" = Desolation. Solitude. She left, in all possible pasts. Edward just fired the bullet.

If I can face it later, I'll pull together another sheet so we can check all options have been tried... although having had a few beers, and watched my team give away the game it might be tomorrow..

EDIT - interestingly some of the results above don't happen for me. I think someone mentioned this before, that you need to "unlock" some of the responses - sadly if we missed any last time because of that it's too late. I've attached where I've got to with the sheet, the reults I can't match are in yellow, and I've only checked the 2 word combos.

EDIT 22 Nov: updated docs attached below.

Well I've gone through all the 2 & 3 combos, and updated the sheet attached above. (I'm not going to try 4 word combos as would take ages, if anyone else wants to try feel free.) I've also attached a copy in Word for those who had problems with excel.

There was no change to the responses, so can't advise anyone with the "unlocking" thing. however some of Olly's combos were noted wrong 1 was Who + You + Trick to get a response, and 3 What + you + see.

Some observations:
> I noticed Mother is sometimes capitalised, father isn't.
> We have more characters, the mother & father, and the twins Edward & Tom.
>Tom is the one we are communicating with, and seems to be "good"?
> Edward lived? (then why poor Edward?) That doesn't seem to tie in with previous info. Either way he is the person Raph dreamt into, the one who pulled the trigger...did he kill his mother?
> SPEC, is the Prof the father? it explains a lot..

Hmmm. So lots of looking through the divination board replies has led me to the following:

Tom-
^sees the "already happeneds"- is the brother looking behind (ayer?)
^is very, very cold- dead, perhaps?
^Dreams of guns (like our friend who appeared and shot up RUMI)
^was trapped for ten years in the circles
^SPEC: tried to bring the Cyphers in to help

Edward-
^looks forward (sunsets and tombstones)- precognitive?
^"stolen" by father
^was trapped in the house, but is now walking
^opened "prison" to finish the deed (the circles?)
^tricked mother with a lie
^SPEC: was blamed for mother's death, and used by father

This is combining info from the board as well as Kevin's email. Question is, who is Alvin in all of this? (If they are talking about the same set of people.)

Alvin could be the father, but I read it as he was one of the Cyphers.

Well with the Tom Edward situation, I feel as if they are the same person with like a Jekyll and Hyde complex going on. Essentially Tom is the one generally in charge but sometimes Edward overpowers him when Tom gets angry or evil feeling. That's why Edward looks forward to sunsets and stuff, as in the dark in when the bad thing roam stereotype. S then Tom is aware of all of the bad things that Edward is doing but can't do anything about it. It's kind of like, if anyone here watched Angel, the Angel/ Angelus situation.

Ok Random specualtion over. =)

Okay, so there's a new picture on the Divination website.

It's a picture of Cerberus:

The head on the left has 'Narwhal' on it.
The head in the middle has 'Gabriel' on it
The head on the right has 'Africa' on it.

Now, a Narwhal is a type of whale, Gabriel is either the Gabriel we know or the archangel Gabriel in the bible and Africa is of course, a continent.

Also note that the bottom left corner says "HELL Canto 6". Leading me to believe that it is from Dante's Inferno (Canto can be found here: http://altreligion.about.com/library/texts/inferno/bl_inferno6.htm).

There is also a human under one of the paws (Ciacco perhaps)? There is also some sort of figure sitting on the rocks on the right hand side of the drawing.

I've tried inputting "Pluto" (which is the Roman name for the Greek god Hades which was also the previous answer), "Plutus", "Ciacco", "Dante", "Inferno", and "Dante's Inferno".

Putting in 'hell canto 6' directly into google brings up this http://danteworlds.laits.utexas.edu/circle3.html
Hopefully, it'll help.

Alright, so it's getting late and I've got this theory, but I'm not quite sure where to go with it....
reading through the sixth canto I've found some... related terms, I guess:

Narwhal- "TUSK"
When Cerberus perceived us, the great worm!
His mouths he opened, and displayed his tusks;
Not a limb had he that was motionless.

Gabriel- "TRUMPET" (Gabriel has been mentioned as a horn-blower on judgment day)
And the Guide said to me: "He wakes no more
This side the sound of the angelic trumpet;
When shall approach the hostile Potentate,

... but Africa? I'm totally at a loss there.
I'm thinking that the first letter of each line in those stanzas could be combined and mixed around to form the answer, but so far, no luck.

Canto 6: http://altreligion.about.com/library/texts/inferno/bl_inferno6.htm
Anyone else want to give it a shot? It might be more complex than my guess, seeing how my theory gets us W,W,H,N,T,A... and what could *that* spell?

Got it!

The answer to the cerberus page is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the common thread..."horn". A narwhal has a horn, Gabriel played a horn, and the east coast of Africa is call the Horn of Africa.

It opens up to a new page with the following:

Quote:
Bang
The gun bucked and someone screamed.
The world ran with streaks of black, red, and grey.
Cut, burned, strangled, pierced,
Deprived of oxygen and light,
Bang, Bang, Bang,
The gavel keeps falling in my head.
Can't sleep, can't think.
Guilty, guilty, guilty! No one can escape this.
No.
I see a way to escape this.
Alvin, Alvin showed me...
Don't stand in my way!

ETA: There are also more "I was dead at..." lines.

Quote:
I was dead at thirty five, swept off by the current
I was dead at thirty seven, alcohol and an accident
I was dead at forty of unrequited love
I was dead at fifty five of a foreign disease
I was dead at ninety three of a punctured lung

BTW the picture was Cerberus, by William Blake.

Good work on the solve ilikepucks

EDIT: Not sure we've heard "I was dead at ninety three of a punctured lung" or "I was dead at fifty five of a foreign disease"

EDIT: It also has a last line "I'll save you."
