Herald Hunt

Formerly known as the Tropic Hunt, this ARG-like event plays out on the streets of Miami. Check out Herald Hunt:

Here's a review of one of last year's puzzles; read about the others via the link.

Quote:
At the Tower of Light in Bayfront Park, hunters encountered a PA system playing Under the Sea. From the balcony surrounding the tower, hunters could see Hunt staffers dressed as mermaids scurrying about 15 feet below, while other staffers handed them fishing lines. If they lowered a fishing line, the mermaids attached a piece of paper to the hook. The paper had what seemed to be randomly arranged letters in a rectangular grid. Under the Sea was the clue. If you looked under each ''C'' in the letter grid and noted the letter below it, you came up with: ''HOWMANYSTARFISH.'' On the tower hung a backdrop depicting sea life, including 14 starfish. The answer to this puzzle: 14.

I'm having visions of Team Unfiction taking the top prize...

Tropic Hunt

The Tropic Hunt rocks. I wish I could be down in Miami for that...I played it a couple years when I was there -- back when the puzzles were spread out all over Dade & Broward counties. Really good times.

Last game I played, you went around the city solving stuff, coming up with 7 numbers. Then you got the clue "Wow is mom upside down. Oh darn, is Rhonda mixed up. So what's laid?"

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
dial backwards. you had to dial those seven numbers in reverse order. The answering machine on that line gave you your final clue.

I definitely think an ARGFest-o-Con should be based around a Herald/Tropic Hunt at some point...
