A barcode has been added to the home page at virtuquest . If you go to any of their links then back to the home page, the barcode changes, like a countdown. Looking in the source, one of the barcode images, "barimages/Cc.gif" has "alt=Interested?" No kloo what it means.

I dont have to refresh to see a new barcode. It automagically updates on my screen. If I had to guess, I'd say it was a countdown.
Edit: The alt text of all the barcode images is 'Interested?'

I agree but it would be nice to know when the countdowns for
When you first go to the page the countdown in barcode appears, if you then hit refresh the countdown is replaced with a barcode in the order of:
0c 0c 0cCc 0c 0cCc 0c 0cCc 0c 0c

If you go through the javascripts handling the countdown, you eventually get to this .
It looks as if this will really launch Jan 1st at midnight.

Well, it's definitely a countdown.

Looking at the 'names'
xab gives days left – 026
yz gives hours left – 04
de gives minutes left – 37
gh gives seconds left – 17
Countdown to New Year, be worth checking often in case it changes.
c, cz and f are spacers. Dunno if they mean anything?

Well, like I said above, it's really easy to tell what the date is if you look at the javascript handling it, .
Quote:
//nterey atedy oty ountcy owndy oty [enter date to count down to]
later = new Date("Jan 1 2007 0:00:01")
The only thing I'm not sure of is why the javascript isn't named aunchlyatedy instead of ounchlyatedy. Unless lounch date is a kloo.

Like I said, it's worth checking to see if things change. After all, the date referred to is based on the individual's computer reckoning on when it's New Year.
And it's too easy, not likely to be starting while everybody is celebrating..

Hey guys,
After the unfortunate demise of "City of Domes", I am quite interested in taking part in another Virtuquest ARG.
I'll be sure to put this on my watch list!

Is there a way to notify me when a reply is posted without actually posting a comment myself?
Either way, I'm watching at the very least.

negativeview: if you look at the top right of each thread, you'll see 4 little icons. The envelop one will "watch" the thread for new posts and send you an email when something happens. Took me *ages* to figure that out, but it's a handy little tool!

Someone kill your dog today? What was that hostility about?
Yeah, I'm going to "watch" this one, because..... It hasn't started yet.
As for lurking, I was a very active member of "City of Domes", a previous ARG from Virtuquest that ended early due to financial and contractual disputes.
