I am leaning toward something more complex than substitution, and I do not believe that it is going to be (easily) solvable until we get more (as substitution may be thanks to frequency analysis, et al). We seem to get more during every round and this is supposed to last 13 rounds. Just because of how multi-layered and hidden the puzzles have been so far, I'm assuming that we won't be able to make heads or tails of the letters until we have the complete set.

That being said, feel free to prove me wrong, as all of the unsolved puzzles are driving me batty.

Boo, see what happens when I get distracted and forgetful. (*Is the most easily distracted person in the wor--ooh, icecream--*)

No package for me, but I did get a 'letter' this morning. Grabbed it as I was running out the door, so I can't scan it, but the paper itself does not seem to have anything on it.

Enclosed are two smaller strips folded in half. One is very narrow and has "six seven" in red on one side, and "our" on the other.

The other has the words "while three not un fide" on the bottom of one side, spaced at about an inch apart from each other, the other side is blank.

Sorry, haven't got much else to contribute--haven't had a chance to review the previous posts very thoroughly yet. :T

I got a letter today, as well.

It seems to be answers to the questions I asked in my submission, though I haven't had time to look it over or scan it.

trying to put together the words (this may be very wrong) I come up with

Quote:
while the three may not appear un bona fide our diagrams of lineage they are indeed momentous architects of culture

anyone have a better idea?

If RedHatty's correct in putting together the words... could it have anything to do with what the pictures symbolize?

Plume: For writing the declaration / old documents
Hammer: Could it be a gavel? Justice?
Boot: Maybe it being a cowboy boot has some sort of significance.

I don't know where the beetle (in the dot-text) ties into all this, but maybe 'the most riveting person' is someone who had something to do with all three of these?

If only that offset text made more sense. I still can't make heads or tails of it.

A "beetle" is a hammer or mallet. so that small part is solved... in my opinion anyway. I earlier made a suggestion that "riveting" might have to do with the rivets in the boot, but that's a little out there. Closest I can come though. Just throwing it back out there....

Sorry it took me a while to post this. Blame the weekend. This is the letter I got:

I think that there are 2 more letters somewhere out there and mine belongs in the center. Other than that, I don't have any serious thoughts.

edit: Resized the image. I didn't realize it was that excessively large. Also, the weirdness at the top is due to the scanner.

That's no moon, it's a space station JPEG! Very Happy Just resize that a little, please?
But anyway. I think that in essence, what they said was that the Council is a group of thinkers who have come together to study the supposed "dumbing-down" of our culture. Also, it seems that they are going to continue with their plans.
Shocked What plans...

I submitted "Rosie the Riveter" right after Lovec got his package, and I just got my response today. I probably wont have time to scan it until later tonight, but I'll try giving a description for now. Top left corner it says "EMLUP" (in black pen) w/ a wavy underline (Red pen), in the top right "ETEBLE" (in black pen) w/ a jagged underline (Red pen). The writing sprawls out from left to right and is in pencil, and it says
Quote:

we thank you for your submission, but must inform you that the rosy woman is not among the three. you are certainly on the accurate track, as your submission and the three were all born in a similar location.

On the back there is one of the hang man puzzles, the first has an open eye above it, its six spaces 3 across 2 down, the fifth space is an 'A'. The second has a closed eye above it, it's six spaces, 2 across 3 down. They're both in black pen. I'll try to get up scans later today.

Anagrams on the top I suppose:
"EMLUP" = Plume
"ETEBLE" = Beetle

EDIT:

OK, so heres the images

I'm trying to figure out the offset lettering right now, and it's making no sense.

If you look at it, it looks like there should be words in there. But the letter frequencies are strange. There are very few instances A H I or N. So on the one hand, we may be looking at some letter substitution. But on the other hand, it's not all that strange, so maybe not. Maybe it's just transposition.

This is the newest correspondence from tCotSA. The most importand part says:

Quote:
" each of the three frames includes the complete batch of clues for one of the personalities. rejigger, research, and then realize."

The rest is a personal statement from the committee member who has been sending the puzzles. Apparently, someone else will be taking over this task.

I was thinking:

While the three may not appear unbonafide diagrams of lineage, they are indeed momentous architects of our culture.

Change of pace...

I got a letter today - real envelope - lined notebook paper - postage from Netherland.

Quote:
to all competitors,

Greetings! I have just received word that I will be taking over head puzzling duties for this phase of the Sedulous Amalgamation. I just wanted to say that I am very excited to work with you. From your work so far, you seem to be one of our strongest groups yet!

Will scan letter and envelope later and add to post.
