i slowly made my way down the sacred road for the weary. it seemed there was no code of life anywhere. i walked back and forth and back and forth, until i spotted a series of numbers and one letter on a pole. the numbers were 4379406 with an e on the end. i read it aloud, "4379406 with an e on the end". from behind the pole stepped the spirit of nocuma. nocuma smiled at me and said, "this is the code of life". i smiled back and asked, "what does that mean?" nocuma nodded knowingly and said, "this number was placed here by the ancients. it is a reminder to the tongva people to defend the land. one year and five days after the castle of bedford and shepherd was complete, i came to visit my tongva people. the tongva were weary and had begun to lose all hope. i did not console my people. i walked them to this ancient pole and pointed to our code. i scolded them for not defending the land against the settlers and missionaries! i then gathered what remained of this once strong tribe and led them to a place just west of the the bedford and shepherd castle. we created a circle around the sacred spring of courage. my people and i held hands and vowed to seek revenge and to save the land." nocuma then stopped and looked me in the eye and said, "this would make a great scene in a movie, if you also included a fire around the sacred spring of courage." i smiled and agreed. nocuma looked me in the eye again and said, "to learn of the great and final battle, you must go now to the safe place. it is not far now that you have the code of life. finish the road of the weary. the end is 43 steps away. and then take your first left and walk 79 steps to the trees. and then turn right and find the sign of rules. it is not far. when you find the sign of the rules, you must read the last line. it will take you to the end of your journey."
