It could very well be.

On another note, is anyone else going to be coming to the IRC thingie? Right now, it's only Gabriel and me . . .

They are definitely the questions written one on top of another.

Some things I've been able to pull out:

Code:
Note: _ is an illegible character.

Towards the beginning:

_ _ y _ _ y _ y _ _ . . .

_ _ g g _ _ _ g _ _ _ _ g _ _ . . .

Near the middle:

K _ _ _ . . .

V _ _ _ . . .

Either llB (something) or 11B (something).

Towards the end:

. . .  _ _ _ the first.

Who was he? (blatantly obvious)

Also, ALISDAIRPARK, I've pulled together a composite for you to break your head over Smile (Or, if you prefer, to break over your head!)

Shady - If you have an IRC client, use irc.chat-solutions.com, port 6667, channel #RUMI (to join it, type "/join #RUMI").

it is rc.chat-solutions.org
or just find the /chat/ link from unforums and it will put a java applet in your browser.

Well last night was fun, although I got a headache from trying to work out the text in the first puzzle, and we didn't even need it (bum steer by me, sorry guys)!

Overall a great finale and the puzzles were cool. Did I really solve every puzzle first? Shocked Laughing Embarassed Laughing (for accuracy it was joint first for Modo)

I was so tempted to say "I want to live for Eva" when Ed showed up, but thought it would ruin the atmosphere a bit...

EDIT. P.S. For those who weren't there until the very end Kevin said the Four Deaths had something for us, although it wasn't clear if it was online, or a physical thing. We should know in a couple of days.

Ye log!

As promised, here's the log of the chat (from about 10:30 onwards, which is when I finally managed to get online).

Warning: It's EXTREMELY LONG!

Session Start: Tue Dec 05 10:30:46 2006
Session Ident: #RUMI

(Macavity) Heya Gabriel. Sorry I'm late - the station gremlins found some problems with one of the shortwave units.
(@Gabriel) Hello, Macavity. That's perfectly understandable, it took me a long time to get RUMI running again.. you should tell me about those gremlins sometime.
(@Gabriel) Have you had a chance to look at the blog? There have been some, ah, developments and I detailed them there.

(Macavity) No, not yet - although I was just about to load it.
(Macavity) Nothing bad, I hope . . .

(@Gabriel) That depends on how you look at it.
(Macavity) . . . Crikey moses.
(@Gabriel) Indeed. It seems we were slightly off base, but we have an opportunity to salvage the situation.
(Macavity) Well, I can think of one good thing - we don't appear to be dealing with a ripper.
(@Gabriel) Yes, though, should he succeed in re-integrating himself into our world the way he plans, he may become one... if I am reading the professor's notes correctly.
(Macavity) Yopu know . . . I think that may be what Tom's photos were trying to tell us.
Topic» (Gabriel) changes topic to (Welcome to operation Rescue Eva. Please see the blog at descry.us to get caught up to speed.)
(@Gabriel) I think you are right.
(Macavity) Ohkaaaaay . . now that's a weird question.
(Macavity) What does the inventor of the lava lamp have to do with the price of rice in Kanto?

(@Gabriel) I am unsure. I can't say that I understand these fifth dimensional creatures. They make connections that I cannot.
(@Gabriel) I mean, that may not make sense to us fourth dimensional creatures. Sorry, I was up all night making adjustments.

(Macavity) Ouch. That's no fun.
(@Gabriel) No. It was something of a harrowing process as well, as I kept catching glimpses of a large man in a trench coat lurking around the windows or across the street. At first I thought it was just my mind playing tricks on me, but I am fairly certain that he was there.
(Macavity) Wonder if it's the guy who replaced Death . . .
(@Gabriel) It is possible. I thought I saw a strange looking gun hanging from his hip. I wonder why death would want to play wild west dress up.
Nick» (Gabriel) is now known as (Gabriel|R_adjust)
(@Gabriel|R_adjust) I will be back shortly.
(Macavity) Righto.
Nick» (Gabriel|R_adjust) is now known as (Gabriel)
(Macavity) Problems?
(@Gabriel) RUMI is, metaphorically, being held together with chewing gum and duct tape. Literally with the duct tape. I will need to keep adjusting it during the day.
(Macavity) It got trashed tat badly when the Professor was attacked?!
(Macavity) That might explain why the Hobbididance maze keeps resetting on me . . .

(@Gabriel) Symbolic bullet-holes do not do wonders for delicate equipment. Resetting?
(Macavity) Well, it keeps going back and forth between asking who invented the lava lamp and what the nickname was for a World War II-era German flying boat (specifically, the Blohm und Voss Bv.138).
(Macavity) every time I try to answer the second question, it goes back to asking about the inventor of the lava lamp.

(@Gabriel) How strange.
(Macavity) Yeah.
(Macavity) Let me try an alternate access point . . .
(Macavity) Huh. Now it's asking me about the length of time it takes for light to travel one fermi.

(@Gabriel) Agh, the resonator crystal array! I need to patch that up. Be back soon.
(Macavity) Got'cha.
(Macavity) Is it holding?

(@Gabriel) Everything is holding steady. Any luck on your end?
(Macavity) Yeah. I'll never say physicists don't have a sense of humor.
(Macavity) The answer, in all seriousness, was "A jiffy".
(Macavity) hellohellohello
(Macavity) sorryabout that - one of the gremlins was being friendly.

(@Gabriel) I hope you can control them.
(Macavity) Well, I keep 'em occupied with some of the station's obsolete stuff - although they have found (and fixed) a few problems with the newer stuff.
(Macavity) Hrm. That's interesting.

(@Gabriel) What?
(Macavity) third question - "Who was the first US casualty of the Korean War?" I've got the right answer . . . but it's telling me that being right isn't everything.
(@Gabriel) I wonder what that means.
(@Gabriel) Perhaps being right isn't everything to this symbolique. What would be, then?

(Macavity) Well, I tried other first casualties - that reset the maze. I even tried "Who knows?" and variations thereon, because while Kenneth Shadrick was the first reported casualty (and that's what triggers the message about being right not being everything), there's some dispute as to who the actual first casualty was.
(Macavity) Hello, this is interesting . . .
(Macavity) There seems to be some artifacting near the top-right corner of the interface. I'm going to try to clean it up.
(Macavity) Wiat a minute - that's not artifacting!
(Macavity) I think the maze might be a decoy, Gabriel. I'm going to try to get a shot of the anomaly and clean it up some.

(@Gabriel) Interesting. I have a question. Does it reset the entire maze when you get a question wrong?
(Macavity) No, just back to the last one you got right (which you then have to answer again).
(@Gabriel) Are you sure?
(Macavity) Yep.
(Macavity) Is that important?

(@Gabriel) I am thinking about the thing RUMI told you. that being right isn't everything. That seems important to me.
(Macavity) Yeah, that does seem unusual . . .
(@Gabriel) Maybe I'm just getting edgy. I can hear Tom in the other room muttering about walking in circles and the past.
(Macavity) Ah, there we go. I've got an enhanced composite of the text. Some of it is pretty badly garbled, though - it looks like there are multiple layers of data.
(Macavity) I'm going to try to transfer a copy of the composite image to you.

(@Gabriel) Okay.
(Macavity) Initiating transger . . . now.
(Macavity) There we go.

DCC send of (data composite.jpg) to (Gabriel) finished. Uploaded (103KB) in (39s) at an average of (2.65KB/s).
(@Gabriel) 238. Do you have any idea what that number might mean?
(Macavity) Not offhand. There are at least three questions in there though - one, I think, relates to being "first".
(Macavity) No, wait, that's part of a statement. Garble, garble, garble . . . then "first".
(Macavity) There's also either an 11 or two lowercase Ls in there. And I don't think that's 238 - it looks to me like there's a question, then the number "38".
(Macavity) 38 rings a bell . . . let me check something.

(@Gabriel) All right.
(Macavity) . . . Not quite. I thought one of the deaths was at age 38, but I was a year off.
(@Gabriel) Hmm.

Nick» (Cross2) is now known as (Gabriel)

(Macavity) . . . There are a couple "y"s in there, as well as four "g"s.
(Gabriel) Odd. Tom goes from agitated to, well, just saying strange things. I was just tightening down some things on RUMI when he walked by chanting.I think he said "The fool is a foul trickster, and he walks all crooked. He says something smart, walks to the right, and says the correct speed for a mocking bird. Then he retraces his steps, and lets loose with foul nonsense, making the world confused."
(Macavity) Well, at least he's not asking about the wing speed of an unladen swallow.
(Macavity) Also, about that 38 . . . I think it may actually be either l l 38 or 1138.
(Macavity) It's definitely not P-38, though.

(Gabriel) 138?
(Macavity) Possibly, possibly . . .
(Gabriel) I'm not sure you should be persuing that though, RUMI is in a state of disrepair and may be suffering some symbolic leakage. Ah, what a time to get dislexic. Tom said "Walks to the left." He keeps saying it, too.
(Macavity) You know, I think Tom might have been involved with the events that the Professor's 5DS picked up. Maybe he feels, I dunno, partly responsible for what happened to Eva.
(Gabriel) Yes, I agree. I'm going to go check on Eva and Raphael. I'll be back in a few minutes... good luck. Perhaps you should try the questions in the maze again. Perhaps there is something we have overlooked.
(Macavity) Could be, could be. Reminds me a bit of Chip's Challenge, actually . . . maybe trying different angles will yield different questions.

(RedHatty) Hi gabriel
(RedHatty) Hiya Mac

(Macavity) Heya RedHatty. Gabriel's off checking on Eva and Raphael.
(Macavity) He said he'd be back in a few minutes.
(Macavity) Any luck cracking that maze yet?

(RedHatty) okay - so my first time inthis cht, what are we supposed to be doing?
(RedHatty) none

(Macavity) right now, I'm focusing on the maze and that anomalous gibberish in the RUMI screen.
(Macavity) That, and waiting to hear from Gabriel how Raphael and Eva are doing.
(Macavity) (By the way, apparently RUMI's being held together with metaphorical spit and baling wire.)

(RedHatty) okay Smile
(Macavity) Have you seen the composite I pulled togehter yet?
(RedHatty) yes I did, nice work

(RedHatty) they are cold?
(Gabriel) poor tom's a cold
(RedHatty) who is Tom?
(Gabriel) my brother is coming, he who touched the four fiends i feel him coming i see him walk with death
(RedHatty) from King Lear
(Gabriel) oh can the fiends rise up from their cages can you help them can you be correct once, twice then walk backwards and answer wrong what once was right
(Macavity) Heya, Tom. Is everything all right?
(Macavity) And hello Shady.

(Shady) Hello, finally made it.
(Gabriel) i see the craven he comes in a jiffy and then lies about his name
(RedHatty) sounds like we need to answer 2 right & then go back and answer one wrong
(Macavity) So . . lava lamp, timespan . . . and wrong name.
(Gabriel) Oh, sorry about that guys. Tom was pecking around on my keyboard. I hope he didn't break anything. Hello RedHatty, Shady.
(RedHatty) I hope he didn't break anything too Smile
(RedHatty) seems he was trying to give us a hint on the maze

(Gabriel) Well, his brother was connected to the deaths, and they do share some sort of bond.
(Macavity) Not to worr4y, Gabriel. Remember, I had a gremlin around who wanted to say hello.
(RedHatty) So how are Eva & Raphael?
(Macavity) You know, I just had an idea . . . the question's asking for the name of the *first* US casualty in Korea. What if we give it the name of the *last* soldier?
(Gabriel) Eva is doing... well she's there. But she doesn't look very well. Very pale. And it almost seems like she is getting thinner and thinner. Wasting away before our eyes.
(RedHatty) go for it, I am getting the lava lamp question
(Gabriel) What is the answer to the Lava Lamp question?
(Shady) Craven walker
(Shady) I'm getting the second question as the nickname of the Blohm und Voss BV-138
(Shady) or is it Edward Craven Walker

(Gabriel) Greetings Tesseract, Phaedra.
(Tesseract) have we got anywhere with the prince of dumbness yet?
(RedHatty) I don't think so
(Gabriel) Well, while I was away, Tom was typing something on my keypad. Let me copy it back down.
(Gabriel) oh can the fiends rise up from their cages can you help them can you be correct once, twice then walk backwards and answer wrong what once was right
(Gabriel) and
(Gabriel) i see the craven he comes in a jiffy and then lies about his name

(Macavity) Yeah, my questions so far have been "Who invented the lava lamp?" (Edward CRAVEN Walker), "How long does it take light to travel one fermi?" (JIFFY), and "Who was the first US casualty in Korea?"
(Tesseract) so that relates to the maze. I'm trying to follow that but still either go back to the start or get the messgae
(Tesseract) prince of dumbness is about right for this

(Macavity) Wait, wait WAIT . . . M*A*S*H was set during the Korean War, and the only casualty from the 4077th MASH was Lt. Col. Henry Potter - he was on his way home when his plane was shot down by North Korean fighters.
(Macavity) No, not Potter . . . BLAKE.
(Macavity) Let me try Henry Blake.

(Tesseract) I don't understand why you get different questions Mac...
(Macavity) Neither do I, Tesseract.
(Macavity) Maybe it's keyed to time of access or something.
(Macavity) And . . Henry Blake is a no-go.

(Tesseract) what do you answer exactly for the lava lamp - it can't be time of access, or IP as I've been on two different PCs and still got the same Qs.
(Macavity) Edward Craven Walker
(Tesseract) ...so maybe the trail is determined by the answers you give
Join» (CreativeEmbassy) (cjudySPLATchat-solu-C8CDF206.hsd1.pa.comcast.net)
(Shady) I've tried different combos and still get the BV-138 question
(Tesseract) funny when I enter it exactly as above nothing happens
(Macavity) That Is odd.
(Gabriel) I've dived in a little bit. I notice that when I put in Edward Craven Walker, it opens up part of the maze. But if I get it wrong, it takes me somewhere else.
(Shady) very odd
(Gabriel) I wonder if this is consistant across the maze.
(Macavity) Hey!
(Gabriel) Good afternoon, CreativeEmbassy. Welcome to our rescue operation.
(Tesseract) that's it - that's it....when you enter it like that a doorway appears
(Macavity) I just noticed something - I think answering the question about the Korean casualty opened up a panel between the Blohm und Voss question and one about an aquatic mammal that sleeps with one eye open.
(Tesseract) some answers open doors in the walls
(Tesseract) yeah we're in the same place M

(Macavity) And not all the aopenings occur in the section you're in!
(Macavity) I think we've got something, here!

(Tesseract) i'm in the top left corner now
(Tesseract) Q: a president was inaugaretd in american made clothing, who?

(Macavity) Good question.
(RedHatty) Washington?
(RedHatty) It MADISON!!!

(Tesseract) it was madison, but now I'm back to te aquatic
(RedHatty) aquatic mammals are either whale or dolphn
(Shady) I'm not with you guys, can you tell me what to enter for the lava lamp question to open the walls
(Tesseract) answer exactly as mac posted above
(Tesseract) whale & dolphin take you to the american pres Q

(RedHatty) Sad
(Tesseract) right or wrong answer take you back to the fermi Q
(Macavity) No, it wa sJefferson (I think).
(Tesseract) answer that wrong takes you to the US casualty/ korean war
(RedHatty) try porpoises for aquatic animal
(Shady) Who was the first casualty of the Korean war....sorry I'm lagging behind
(RedHatty) Answer is "Who KNows?"
(Macavity) That's the answer?
(Tesseract) don't think so, same response as wrong answer
(RedHatty) it opened the maze for me
(Macavity) Huh. It didn't for me - Kenneth Shadrick did.
(Tesseract) try and get back yo the first square. I now have a gap at the top
(Macavity) Now we're stuck in the upper left corner.
(Tesseract) leads to Q what letter did Ernest Vincent Wright hate?
(CreativeEmbassy) Ooo, a rescue operation?
(CreativeEmbassy) How long has this game been underway?

(Macavity) Tesseract - What was your answer to the PResident question?
(Macavity) CE, this is no game. This is serious business (like ZOMBIE SPIES!)

(Tesseract) answer to Ernest q is e - for the pres I said madison
(Tesseract) now I'm back up at the top, with a doorway bettween the pres and the korean war
(Tesseract) if you get a question right you don't move, and it opens a door. get it wrong and you move. The key is when to get things right and when wrong

(Macavity) Hey, I used James Madison, and opened a door between the president Q and one about the origina of the phrase "ring around the collar"
(Tesseract) ah it needs full names then
(Tesseract) q: who invented the first nail gun?
(Tesseract) only answer I can find says 4 guys...

(Macavity) My next question (after answering "Wisk" to the ring-around-the-collar Q) is: "No casino has this on its walls"
(Shady) clock
(RedHatty) or windows - but definitely clock
(Tesseract) stuck now
(Shady) not as stuck as I am
(Macavity) Okay. "Clock" took me back.
(Shady) time?
(Gabriel) Horbiddance seems to care an awful lot about capitals and lower case.
(Tesseract) clock (all lower case) and I didn't move, so it was right. Wisk was wrong as it moved us, what was the full name?
(RedHatty) nail gun: Hirsch, Ollig, Miller, and Westerholm
(RedHatty) Wisk Detergent?

(Macavity) Probably.
(Macavity) Nope, Wisk Detergent didn't do the trick.

(RedHatty) Catholic Church?
(Macavity) Nope.
(Tesseract) doesn't matter got a new opening top right from the clock answer
(Tesseract) down to bottom left (q was on lady haw haw, easy one)

(Macavity) How d'you get to the top right, Tesseract?
(Tesseract) by answering the Ernest Vincent question wrong
(Macavity) Right. How d'ye get there, then?
(Tesseract) opening at the top of the first square, can't remember what opened it though
(Tesseract) great now at a Q: what happens after we die? getting a bit more metaphsical
(Tesseract) damn got to the middle, and it's riddle One.

(RedHatty) Maybe we should ask Tom
(Tesseract) Chernobyl was right. onto the next one guys
(Tesseract) text comes up "I feel my bonds slip away. Go free my next brother. tell him hob sent you"
(Tesseract) that was a spolier BTW
(Tesseract) damn my typing is bad...too excited.

(RedHatty) so what now?
(Macavity) H'm.
(Macavity) Now we need to figure out who the next one is.

(Tesseract) no idea - thought that would open up a puzzle, but not getting anything.
(Macavity) Okay. right. King Lear.
(Gabriel) Perhaps now you can dive into one of the other sections.
(Macavity) Yeh, we're trying to figure out which one, though.
(Gabriel) I'm going to go check on Eva. I will return in a moment.
(Tesseract) been trying hob, hob sent me, and hob sent you..no luck...maybe with a capital
(Tesseract) on Flibberty type hobsentme

(Gabriel) I'm back. There's a big shadow, like a big fat man, sitting at one of Eva's feet. It.. just looked at me, and I did not dare get very close. I could have sworn it smiled at me.
(Gabriel) One of them is free. Two and a half hours until Edward comes, if Raphael is right.

(RedHatty) Edward Craven Walker opes the path
(RedHatty) sorry

(Tesseract) Ok on Flibberty we need to walk the path and map it somehow, I think it says something
(Macavity) Okay, and uplinking now.
(RedHatty) yeah - from start to finish yiou found something, what do you have?
(Tesseract) i reckon it will be a word, bit of a pain drawing it together but should be quicker than the last one
(Macavity) I'm thinking we ought to do another composite.
(Tesseract) I'm drawing the sections into excel if that's of use? Als note some sections appear to be at the edge, as there is a grey area beyond the black
(Macavity) Yah, that's why I was thinking a composite.
(Macavity) uh, Tesseract, could you do that as a plain text file as well? My database program doesn't like Excel files (it reads them, but seems to think there are three separate documents in each file).

(Gabriel) Hmm, I wish I had some graph paper here but it is all back at the lab.
(Macavity) Hello, this looks like i's all in a column!
(Gabriel) In a column, hmm?
(Macavity) Well . . that, or a rectangle. But there's definitely a pattern.
(Macavity) There's a shape of some kind - I noticed that one symbol (it looks kinda like a very small Y made out of six squares) shows gray on the left when you enter from the first shape, and gray on the right when you enter from the shape after.

(Tesseract) just fit them together fitting the end square to the strt square...
(Tesseract) it writes migraine...but all I get is a small emblem..

(Macavity) Headache, maybe?
(Tesseract) Doh....gotta move the beetle... Riddle Two...
(Tesseract) answer IRS
(Tesseract) onto Mahu
(Tesseract) for those who want to skip on tell mahu 419

(Macavity) As in the scam?
(Tesseract) fun...a maze in the dark
(RedHatty) is your beetle moving?
(Tesseract) I think so, it's hard to tell
(Gabriel) I believe yes, as in the scam. And a theft of light.

(Tesseract) The way to get round mazes is pick a wall to on (i.e.left) and keep to it it's a long way round, but good when you don't know where you're going
(Tesseract) Hey Kev.

(Kevin) How's it hanging? Lane's been hanging out on the sidelines, watching Gabe's back. I thought I'd stop on here and see how you are doing.
(RedHatty) until you get to a dead end
(Macavity) Me, I'm working on compiling a few image composites of the first two tasks.
(Tesseract) yeah I'm getting noweher quick
(Tesseract) I think zooming helps a bit...

(Kevin) Well, let me know if I can do anything for ya. Looks like you have things well in hand though.
(Macavity) righto, Kevin.

(Gabriel) Welcome back, gandalf!
(gandalf112) Thanks Gabriel! The Biology test went fine...
(gandalf112) Smile
(gandalf112) How are things on your end?

(Gabriel) Good to hear. And you can help us resume our research (er, if you can call it that at this point) into the fifth dimension.
(Tesseract) How long do we have Gabe?
(Macavity) It seems to me like these four like to play games.
(Gabriel) Fairly well. We have released two of the deaths from Eva. One sits at her right foot, and one at her left. Two more to go.
(Gabriel) We two and a half hours before Edward returns.

(Kevin) Hey, who doesn't? And I've known quite a few people that like to play games with lives.
(Macavity) Oh, man. Mahu doesn't like Alvin Scott. Calls him "scum".

(Macavity) Eh, sorry about that.
(Macavity) . . . I really need to speak to Zenner - Dex unplugged the primary uplink unit.

(Tesseract) do you all hate me yet?
(Tesseract) found the middle, Riddle 3, answer is Boston after all

(Gabriel) Well, gandalf, the code to Mahu is 419.
(Tesseract) onto Modo
(Macavity) Naw, Tesseract, it's all good Smile
(Tesseract) lol...the pasword is Hope Diamond
(Tesseract) I think
(Tesseract) hmm not working

(Gabriel) You had to cut out spaces before.
(Tesseract) Ah good man
(Gabriel) RUMI is having problems with them today. That's the first thing to fix on the interface when we get some down time.
(Tesseract) Yay - dodge the beastie
(Tesseract) damn this is hard, been eaten lkike 20 times

(Kevin) Hey, I know all about running and hiding. Maybe there's a trick to it!
(Tesseract) all help welcome cat
(Tesseract) first one you need to trap him in the wee alcove bit

(Gabriel) I just came back from Eva's room. There are three figures now, standing now, above Eva. Raphael looks like he wants to run from them, and I asked him to come out here with me, but he won't budge. He feels very guilty for getting Eva into this.
(Macavity) Well, tell Raph that these four are like E.T. - they just want to go home.
(Macavity) Well . . . they also want a little payback on the guy who trapped them here . . . but they definitely want to go home.

(Tesseract) same for the second, that's the trick to it.
(gandalf112) So has anyone figured out what to do with the bug that appears after typing 419 into Mahu?
(Tesseract) done and the 4th riddle
(Tesseract) doesn't seem to be accepting Gulag, Solovetsky, or Solovski

(Kevin) What does it say when it doesn't accept? Anything?
(Tesseract) it says "I like acronyms. they reduce things to a gunshot of sound and meaning. I like that my home has an acronym for a name"
(Tesseract) any ideas? gunshot must be a clue

(Gabriel) Oh, of all the times that RUMI would start acting up! I need to leave for a while and fix some things. I'll be back at my keyboard before Edward comes.
(gandalf112) Ok guys, I'm completely lost...
(Kevin) Okay, I'll keep my eyes on these cats, though I have to go a little radio silent myself for a bit.
(Tesseract) We just hand fire Kev?
(Tesseract) *hang*

(Kevin) Acronym for a name... hm.
(Tesseract) The first thing was the 4th Riddle... so russian prison
(Kevin) Sorry, Gandalf. The beetle in the black room is a maze.
(Macavity) Oooh, number 3 for Modo's a tricky one.
(Kevin) Tesseract solved that one just as you got here.
(gandalf112) So everyone is still working on the maze?
(Kevin) Okay, going silent for a bit. I think you're really close, Tesseract.
(Tesseract) gotta take him round the houses Mac
(gandalf112) Oh...so everyone is working on Modo now?
(Tesseract) damn that answer's right, but it won't accept
(Tesseract) double damn, refereshed and now I'm back to the start

(Shady) the shortened name is Solovki...but that's not helping me either
(Macavity) Yeah, I figured that much, Tesseract. Problem is, I'm trying to figure out which house is which.
(gandalf112) I have no clue what you guys are doing now...
(gandalf112) Can someone help me?

(Shady) are you on the Modo puzzle?
(Tesseract) well guys gotta go for a while, be back as soon as poss.
(gandalf112) No...I don't really know where I'm at.
(gandalf112) I see Mahu and Modo
(gandalf112) Mahu was 419...that's all I know.

(Tesseract) pass for modo is hopediamond
(gandalf112) I've been putting that in, but nothing's happening.
(gandalf112) Take that back.

(Shady) HopeDiamond?
(Tesseract) yup
(gandalf112) Yes, it worked now...with no spaces...that was the problem.
(Shady) just have to stay away from the beastie now
(gandalf112) So no one found the answer to the dark maze that opened up from the 419 with Mahu?
(Shady) anyone any further forward with the acronym?
(Tesseract) yup, me (again tee hee) that's what gave us the Hope Diamond
(Tesseract) nope, only acronym I can think of is the GULAG one.

(Shady) me too
(Tesseract) GTG...back soon.
(Shady) later
Quit» (Tesseract) (lurkerSPLATchat-solu-6B4050EE.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com) (Quit: http://unfiction.com/chat/)
(Macavity) But it doesn't seem to be GULAG.
(Macavity) Wait, wasn't the first GULAG at a monastery?

(Shady) yes
(Shady) Solovki
(Shady) Solovestsky Islands
(Macavity) Maybe SI, then?
(gandalf112) So, it does seem that Gulag is the answer, but it isn't working.
(Macavity) Nope. Nor is it USSR.
(gandalf112) I typed in "nut house" and it said the thing about the Acronym.
(Macavity) the nut house was something completely different.
(Macavity) I don't get it. Gabriel, any change?

(gandalf112) So...are they looking for a person's name? Because it uses the word "I"...
(gandalf112) Oh, never mind...I remembered the question.

(Tesseract) lol...tried all of those, as well as all the versions I can think of for Solvetsky and/ or islands
(Tesseract) the response does seem to indicate it's the acronym though, i.e gulag...

(gandalf112) Okay, I'm back.
(Tesseract) wb
(Tesseract) GOT IT!!

(Shady) i'VE GOT IT!!!!
(Shady) SANP
(Shady) snap
(Tesseract) damn waht was he name of her father? didn't really listen to the audio...
(gandalf112) Congrats Tesseract!
(Shady) the answer was SLON
(Tesseract) we just didn't go quite far enough
(Shady) see wikis acronyms at bottom of Gulag article
(Tesseract) what is Eva's dad's name?
(gandalf112) Alvin Scott!!!
(Macavity) Gabriel, we've got Modo clear!
(gandalf112) yay me Smile
(Tesseract) decision time
(Tesseract) I wonder how Raph met Eva? I wonder if it was through the Prof...

(gandalf112) So what should we decide to do?
(Tesseract) So do we let raph die, or merge him with someone else (which might not cure his madness..)
(Gabriel) I just got back. Congratulations!
(Tesseract) So Raph's gone either way... what about a merge with Alvin? Give Eva her dad back for what she's gone through?
(Macavity) No, I think she's referring to the other one - the one who shot the Professor.
(Tesseract) Oh right the twin. yeah that makes sense
(Gabriel) Oh, it's Edward, not Raphiel. Raphael is right here, and he's fine. Eva is talking about Edward, I believe. The man who was inside the fifth dimension for a while, the man that started all this mess.
(Tesseract) Edwrad
(Tesseract) cool, pity to lose Raph. Still like the idea of maybe repairing Alvin
(Tesseract) ...although it may not work

(evenlake) What about merging Edward with Tom? He's still there, isn't he?
(Tesseract) hmm....two halves to make a whole, also appealing
(Shady) I like the Tom option
(Gabriel) Tom is right here. He's been very quiet recently.
(Tesseract) Tom has helped us though, and although a bum, he is reasonably sane
(evenlake) Perhaps we should ask him what he wants...
(gandalf112) Professor Erikson is still an option...
(Macavity) I'm just glad Eva's free.
(Macavity) Good lord, Gandalf, what are you thinking?

(Tesseract) yeah that's the main thing. Given the chance the merge may not work, do we let them just take Ed?
(gandalf112) I'm not exactly sure...what is it asking exactly?
(gandalf112) Why would we want to merge it with anybody?

(Shady) We could lose 2 people not just one
(gandalf112) What would be so bad about just saying "nobody".
(Tesseract) Gabe, has Tom said anything?
(Gabriel) Hold on, I'll ask him.
(Macavity) If I read it rightly, they want to know who should house Edward's . . . psyche, I guess, you culd say. It's possible that the merging of Edward's psyche with that of an individual who's not quite so hot-headed might help temper him.
(Tesseract) at the end of the day, it's his brother, and Tom has helped us.
(Tesseract) ..or could drive them both insane
(Tesseract) ...or could give Ed a physical body for killing people ..

(gandalf112) If it drives someone insane...then it should be Alvin because he's already locked away
(Macavity) Myself, I say no to a merge with the Professor for two reasons. One, he's still weak from his ordeals. Two, he knows too much about the fifth dimension - if Edward takes over, we could have a real mess on our hads - like the one that trapped Flibbertigibbet and all here, if not worse.
(Tesseract) if it works with Alvin, then Eva has her dad back, and Tom maybe would have his brother...if not he's already secure 9and insane anyway)
(gandalf112) Yes, Alvin seems like it would be a good choice.
(Macavity) I dunno, myself.
(gandalf112) If we see he's insane, we'd just leave him locked up. If he wasn't, we could maybe get someone to let him out.
(Tesseract) anyways we don't have to agree, hence the vote.
(Macavity) What if a merge creates amonster? That's what I'm worried about.
(evenlake) Let's see what Tom says, then vote?
(Tesseract) Gabe, I just submited and got a list of warning messages
(Macavity) So did I, Tesseract.
(Gabriel) Well, I asked Tom. Tom says "I look back at sunrises and never see the darkness settle, but my brother could see those glorious sunsets. Could we see both?" Take that as you will.
(Shady) I'm off to vote then
(Tesseract) gabe, could you check the system's OK?
(Gabriel) Checking.
(Tesseract) I reckon Tom's saying merge them...
(gandalf112) Well, I hope we did the right thing.
(Macavity) Well, if we didn't, we will soon enough.
(Gabriel) Fixed.
(Gabriel) You can vote now.

(Tesseract) cool, thanks Gabe.
(Tesseract) Hey - good work everyone!!
(Tesseract) We saved the damsel.

(Shady) Nice one.
(Gabriel) You did. Good job, and before Edward arrived.
(Tesseract) Gabe, will there be anything to see on RUMI when Edward gets here?
(Gabriel) Not on RUMI, I don't think so.
(evenlake) Sorry, but was a bit late (Stupid job!) So, how do we vote? Do I need to complete the RUMI puzzles?
(Tesseract) cool, I guess we leave then?
(Shady) No just type in Alvin Scott in to the EVA puzzle
(gandalf112) The password for the Eva puzzle is "Alvin Scott". Then you can vote evenlake.
(evenlake) Thanks, gandalf!
(Gabriel) Well, you can wait until Edward comes, and I will report what happens. Or, I will have a report on the blog afterwards.
(Shady) I'm off for some sustenance now. Until next time.
(Tesseract) Ed will be back in 25 mins?
(Gabriel) That's when he will arrive.

(Kevin) Whoops, I want to be here for the ending.
(Tesseract) lol.
(Macavity) You and me both, K.
(Tesseract) the waiting...
(Macavity) Gabriel, is everything all right at your end?
(Gabriel) Yeah, yeah. I think it's starting.
(Gabriel) The house is creaking but there's no wind outside. We all feel very cold. Tom is muttering and moaning.
(Gabriel) I see him! He's coming! He looks like a shadow with a cruel smile.

(Tesseract) I wouldn't get between the 4 and Raph/ Ed
(Gabriel) He says "Tom, my brother. I'm going to make it so we never die." He's reaching for Eva
(Macavity) So far so good. Kevin, crash team on standby in case of trouble?
(Gabriel) Fifth dimensional energies are unfurling from Eva's body, whiping and snapping like terrible beasts. And there are the four. They've just stepped out from behind her.
(Kevin) Lane is standing by.
(Gabriel) They grab onto the shadow with the cruel smile, and Tom screams out "Edward!"
(Tesseract) Poor Tom
(Gabriel) He's struggling. He's screaming. The sound is terrible. I can hardly stand to listen.
(Macavity) Hoboy . . .
(Gabriel) Four voices speak as one. "You have freed us, and for that we thank you. As you command, we will Reunite the brothers."
• Macavity bites nails.
(Macavity) I hope this works.

(Gabriel) Tom stands there, wide eyed and disheveled. The four figures sweep his shadow-brother towards him, and they... overlap.
(Tesseract) 0.5+0.5=?
(Gabriel) Tom, he blinks, he shakes his head.
(Macavity) 1.0, logically.
(Gabriel) He smiles!
(Macavity) woohoo!
(Gabriel) He just said something! Something lucid. He can see the present again. We reunited the brothers!
(gandalf112) Yay!
(Macavity) All RIGHT! We dood it!
(Tesseract) what did he say?
(Gabriel) He looked around and asked us who we are. He can see us as real people now, which is an improvement.
(Gabriel) Now the four figures are walking forward, like they are moving to a place that I cannot point to.

(Macavity) I think they're headed home, Gabriel. We've done it!
(Tesseract) Sorted.
(Gabriel) It's strangely peaceful to watch the symboliques of death walk back to the fifth dimension. I, I think we're all okay now.
(Tesseract) Cool. Raph Ok?
(Gabriel) Yeah. I think he and Eva are going to have a lot to discuss in the future. But I think they will be okay.
(Gabriel) Thank you everyone for your help.

(Tesseract) our pleasure
(Macavity) Glad to be of service, Gabriel.
(Macavity) yesyesyes!

(Kevin) Well, I'm done taking notes. Good job, gang! And I think that we have some things to investigate in the future.
• Macavity secorts a gremlin away from the keyboard.
(Macavity) I *really* need to speak to Zenner - Dex has been hanging around the main unit a bit much lately.

(Tesseract) like any other prisoners lurking down below SC HQ
(Macavity) And these "serpents" that Alvin was working with.
(Kevin) Indeed. Just what were those old Cypher teams getting up to? Hmm.
(Kevin) Yes. Serpent. That name sounds very familiar. I'm going to start digging on that.

(Tesseract) coolio.
(Macavity) they were probably doing paranormal wetwork - like a cross between the X-Files and a covert-ops team.
(Tesseract) Hey Kev, did you get my note about the old will?
(gandalf112) Obviously I missed some bits of the story because I have no idea what those Serpents are.
(Gabriel) Well, RUMI needs to get an overhaul so I'm going to start packing it up, and everyone else is eagre to get out of the house. Farewell, all.
(Tesseract) Night Gabe.
(Kevin) Yeah, I did. We're going to see what we can do about that.
(Tesseract) excellent.
(evenlake) Goodbye, all!
(gandalf112) Goodbye!
(Macavity) Gandalf - Alvin Scott was a member of a group called the Serpents. Apparently, an earlier Cypher team had a run-in (or several) with them - and it was one of those run-ins that precipitated the events at the Ayer House.

Yeah it'll be interesting what a present from death(s) will be...

also looking forward to maybe finally cracking Wylie's will (from PFF, the last game).

I've attached my working for Flibbertygibbet, transferred into Word as Excel don't work for some of you. I don't have anything for the others.
