[UPDATE] Blog: Rouge Moon/Nancy

Update to Rouge Moon/Nancy's blog on her Myspace.

Quote:
Dear Mr. Hurst

I so miss my high school days now. Remember the one teacher you had? That one teacher that either stashed a bottle in his desk, or was the one teacher the faculty always spread rumors about? Yeah, I had one too.

Ode to Mr. Hurst

It was a warm day in California, as it usually is. I was in 10th grade at the time, staying with my cousin Matt, who now lives in Oregon. I was having trouble keeping my grades up in Chicago, so my dad sent me to live with Matt.

Mr. Hurst was a fine teacher, he was always thinking outside the box. His son was a bit odd though, and I remember overhearing another teacher say that the Hurst kid was adopted. Apparently, the kid was a genius, always solving riddles and puzzles and things of that nature. It was said that the kid could crack any military code. Unfortunatley, the kid snapped in the late 70's and had a slew of emotional disorders, but the rumors and talk about the poor kid followed Mr. Hurst to every school he taught for.

I can remember Mr. Hurst reading us fairy-tales and interpreting them symbolically. This proved to be too much for the rest of the staff, and the school deemed him "unfit" for teaching. What the hell kind of crap is that? Sure, some of his ideas were a bit unacceptable, but that's hardly a reason to fire someone. He wasn't just a teacher, he was a mentor to lots of kids. I just happened to think about all this whaen I got that weird email today. The first day of class, he started teaching, when most teachers would introduce themselves first. I raised my hand and asked, "Um, what do we call you?" to which he picked up a small piece of chalk, and wrote in beautiful cursive on the blackboard, "A Friend."
