Agenda
Here is what I would like to discuss:

1. Number strings
a. Observations about the puzzle -
i. Basically the same numbers are used in three different ways
to designate order
to designate direction
to designate the letter to be used

Question: could the letters beused in a similar fashion so that the same letter might have a different meaning? any way the letters could have more than one meaning? Could this possibly be related to the way the number string appears on the card?


ii. The numbers were arranged intentionally to mimic a risk set up and possible ending. This was enforced by the deliberate placement of the risk pieces next to the number string which looked like a hint to go in that direction. CT went to a great deal of trouble to make it appear that Risk was involved in this puzzle.

Question: why is CT giving us these puzzles with this misdirection mixed in? Or is that a false conclusion? Does risk play in this puzzle - the number strings- at all?

iii. The order of the number strings is important based on the ticks update from Library of Babel

Question: why? Is it just to make sure we have the correct order of the letters?

b. Can we possibly have missed something and our letter string is incorrect. Could there be a further refinement we need to take in the letters themselves? (I know there was one puzzle that required a shift of the final letters to make it understandable.)


2. The microdot puzzle

I had completely forgotten this one. I think it is linked on the wiki now. We should discuss it. I haven't even looked at it but I will before the chat.

3. The shapes
Given the importance the silver cards are starting to take in our understanding of CTs puzzles, I ask again if the shapes could be connected in a way similar to that on the silver card Earth's Destiny?

4. Persian
If we have time, we should look over this one closely.


As usual we will post a chat log. I will try to summarize the main points.

I think these puzzles will take the collaborative effort of players to solve them. And I do wonder, if the basic idea of the number strings had appeared as a puzzle card like a super-hard silver, would it have been solved, at least this far, by now? I think that if we can reframe these puzzles into the context in which we are used to thinking of PPC puzzles- that of defined puzzles on the cards- we might simply make them easier to solve.

 		Sorry to say I got to this chat late and we had an overwhelming disinclination to discuss the puzzles. My conclusion: we all need to concentrate on the holidays. So we can reconvene after the New Year. Have a happy holiday everyone. Talk to you in 2007.
